New quarter, new year, the same routine! For those hearing about the Akai Leagues for the first time, these are weekly league sessions that I host separately for Europe (over a year) and North America (3 years).

For the month of January 2025:
    • Saturday Session is for Europe region players.
    • Sunday Session is for North America region players.
Then R.E.V.O. is released making things a bit more complicated in February. For those that have follow the discussion about the league sessions, I plan to keep hosting sessions for Europe and North America for those on the PS4/PS5.

I will be playing R.E.V.O. and also got a new gaming laptop just to do so...and after thinking a bit more about it, I do have enough equipment that I could possibly host league sessions for both Steam and PSN communities at the same time. The goal is not spending more time hosting more sessions, but hosting more sessions within the same amount of time I have been doing so on the weekends.

If it pans out, this is what Akai Leagues will look like in February:

Test using Tekken 8 on Steam (imagine that as R.E.V.O. :p) to see if my setup can handle two capture devices
Tentative Plan beginning in February 2025

    • Saturday Session
      • EU PSN Division ~ ~1 PM CST start of session (evening time in Europe).
      • NA Steam Division - Approximately half an hour later to start this session.
    Saturday League Session
    • Event Summary
      • Europe PSN Division (EUP)
        • For Europe region PSN players with wired connection (VF5US)
        • Yellow color scheme to distinguish from other divisions
        • Passcode for EUP Room will be that day's date in DDMM format
      • North American Steam Division (NAS)
        • For North America region Steam players with wired connection (VF5REVO)
        • Magenta color scheme to distinguish from other divisions
        • Passcode for NAS Room will be that day's date in MMDD format
      • 3 Open Leagues per Division
        • At most, 3 open leagues will be run per division
        • An open league will only run when there are at least 4 players.
        • An open league can have a maximum of 16 players.
        • At any point of the session in which turnout is less than 4 players, may run less than 3 open leagues for the division.
      • Time Commitment
        • Can play in just one open league or in all three open leagues. It is up to you!
        • A 4-player league will last ~10 minutes, while a 16-player league will last close to an hour. Everyone will be playing at the same time. If odd number of players, every player gets one round bye/break.
      • Intermissions
        • Before and between the leagues, there will be ~10-15 minute intermission to leave/enter the league room. This is also a good time to take a break since once a league starts, it does not stop until everyone completes their matches.
        • After I finished posting to different social medias/websites; and there is at least 4 players in the room; I will start a countdown of 5 intermission matches before the start of a league.
        • For those in the room, you will see me post in-game messages of "preparing" and "# of games remaining" to give you an estimate of when the league starts.
      • Rules and Guidelines
        • Players must be residing in the region listed and play with a wired connection.
        • If there are frequent connection issues, I may ask the participant to leave the room or kick the participant out of the room.
        • No character switching within a league. You may switch character between leagues.
        • Please try to finish all your matches and leave after completing the league. If you are short on time, and it looks like you won't be able to complete the league, I prefer that you do not join the league.
        • I keep track of players' participation and stats during the league. It is okay to use different accounts, but let me know before participating so that I keep an accurate record.
    • Event Schedule
      • Start of Session: Preparation of league session for EUP
        • Once we have at least 4 players, I will start countdown of 5 intermission matches before starting the first league of the night for Europe.
      • ~15-30 minutes after Start of Session: Preparation of league session for NAS
        • Once EUP is up and running (the latest being the start of the first league). I will prepare room for the first league of the day for North America.
      • ~2-4 hours: Simultaneous Running of Two League Sessions
        • How this portion is handled will determine if running two simultaneous league sessions is doable for the long run.
        • I will post to different social medias/websites on the progress of these sessions, but the main organization will be through my stream chat on https://www.twitch.tv/akai_vf
      • End of Session: Concluding Remarks
        • After the last league ends, people still sometimes continue to play in the room. Up to you! May also use this time to go over certain VF-related topics.

I wish that I could do it. I work on Sundays. Hopefully, I can readjust my schedule in the future or days open up to where I can join all of you. I've been putting all kinds of time into it too.

    Nice start of the year!

    Week 1 Summary
    Europe
    • For Europe we had a total of 15 players.
    • Average league size 11 players per league.
    • Two players participated for the first time!
    • 40i4 had the best +/- per match in League B1B: 2.58 (36 rounds won versus 5 rounds loss) this weekend.
    EU 1-01.jpg

    North America
    • For North America we had a total of 25 players.
    • Average league size 14 players per league.
    • The first two leagues we hit the cap of 16 players!
    • Unfortunately the second one had environment/netcode issues. 4 players got disconnected during the league...may the VF netcode gods be kind to us!
    NA 1-01.jpg

Just in Case we do Playoffs!
If Playoffs is something we can feasibly do...like what was suggested in 2024...keeping track who has qualified. Just in case. Players that qualified are those that finished Top 25% in a league. If you don't want to participate that is ok! More points, more favorable positioning in bracket! Might have to adjust point system.

Participants of online league session I host - 1st Quarter 2025, Week 1 (January 4-5th). In hosting these league sessions, two goals I have:

    1. Acknowledging every person that participates (the video above is a direction to do that)

    2. Recognizing player achievements (keeping track of top results).

For those not sure the reason I host these sessions, by week 2 and by week 4 hopefully it will make more sense! I am already behind schedule...week 2 (January 11-12th) by this Friday morning . The intention is not to make a video every week, but to maintain updated player cards/media book of participant. I thought start of 2025 would be good to just get this going instead of waiting for me to go through the backlog of 2022-2024.

I'm going to see if I can make time for the Saturday NA Steam/REVO league, though I'll need to clear it with my wife with respect to childcare and whatnot during that time window.

A few questions. Apologies if these are answered elsewhere and I've missed or misunderstood the answers:
    • Is there a specific process for registration?
    • Which Saturday are the first NA League matches scheduled to happen? Are they every Saturday?
    • Is there an issue if I register but am unable to play on all match days? I don't want to a take spot from someone who can commit fully, so if I'm not sure I can do so then I may abstain.

Thanks for running these! I look forward to checking out some of the streams regardless of whether or not I'm able to participate as a player.

Looking forward to your participation! I also updated first post in thread with detail information for each session starting in February.
First come, first serve. If we constantly get full 16-player rooms (we don't) and people wanted in could not get in, then I might have to adjust format. But 3+ years of doing this, format working so far

For Steam NA League - Saturday, February 1st (VFDC Event Link - https://virtuafighter.com/events/akai-leagues-saturday-session.1425/ ). I will commit to this schedule to the end of March. And like at the end of every quarter, consider changes and what else is needed.

When I started these league sessions, the primary goal was flexibility for people to participate. So no need to register beforehand; no need to make it in time for the start of the league session; and no need to play the entire session (which I generally run 3 leagues per day); or show up to every single Saturday session.

Copy/paste from the new event post (shows up in the calendar and right column of upcoming events). It might seem convoluted because of a lot of task, but its pretty easy for participants. I handle keeping the session moving in a timely manner.

Week 2 Steam #VF5REVO & Week 6 PSN #VF5US Leagues completed! Getting more comfortable with the stream setup, I still need to do some more optimizing. 1st time I got a maxed 16-player league on Steam & for Europe! 2 false starts & 2 dc during league. Next time hopefully no dcs! The clip was the final round robin round of the 2nd league for Europe; trepurize and DoctorCurien were tied for 1st heading into it. Bager got the first two rounds and play the spoiler role, but this Round 4 of the match was a fun highlight for me!
