Changing Display Name Disabled

As many of you may know, this forum supports the changing of your Display Name (My Stuff > My Profile). This is the name that you're known as on the forums, and is different to your forum login name (which never changes).

Changes to your Display Name previously required approval from the admin (me), and for a long while this was somewhat manageable.

But lately, it seems that some have felt the urge to change their display name quite frequently (multiple times per week). While this might be OK to do in your favourite instant messenger client among your personal group of friends, I don't think it's very appropriate for a public forum.

It can make for keeping tabs on who's who an unnecessary chore. Users could be quoted, referenced, given GGs (and BGs) only to have thir display name change, thereby severing any links the post content had with an actual user.

So, in 48 hours, I'm going to disable this functionality indefinitely.

That means you have a final chance to change it, if you so desire, but once you do you'll be stuck with it.
