Esoteric may trigger a few people's memories for one of the better VF5 threads, created by KoD. I've since made my own setup, and can use it for testing game systems that can't otherwise be determined.

First thing I looked at is weight classes.

After Akira's knee done on F0-F1 ([K]+[G] on F0, [K] on F1) I saw how late his [1][K] can hit.

On Eileen, a [1][K] entered on F54 will count as a true untechable combo.

For Jeffrey, a [1][K] entered on F50 will count as a true untechable combo.

Any later than this for the respective characters will result in a combo that can be teched. The game options for tech-rolling appear to match up with the green colouring for combo hit counts. i.e. A just-input tech rolling against a F51 [1][K] by Jeffrey can make the attack whiff, and will register as a green combo (escapable). When done of F50, the combo registers as true, and even with just input tech roll on, it is not avoided.

Jeffrey can input [1][K] up to F53 and still hit a late tech-roll. Any later than F53 and it will not hit a standard tech-roll. Inputs up to F65 for Jeffrey and F69 for Eileen will continue to be counted as green "combos", where the opponent chose not to tech. Later than this and they will not hit the downed opponent.

Against Taka [1][K] can be input up to F74 and still hit on an exact-tech-rolling Taka. F75 whiffs.

No differences between closed and open stances were noted.

    Further testing has the following
    Jeff/Wolf F50
    Jean F51
    Lei F52
    Pai F53
    Eileen F54

Taka F74 * obviously different stun here.

So it seems for each step up in weight class you get an extra frame to juggle. Will have to test with other moves to see if this is universal, or just forunate that it worked with the first move I tested.

[4][4] on F0 and F2 (i.e. 1F input each with 1F neutral inbetween) against Akira's [3][K]. If [3][K] is done on F5 it will backdash stagger. If done on F6 it will not. Tested with Akira vs Eileen, Wolf and Taka with no difference.

Tested Akira's Knee on counter hit. Against Eileen in closed stance [1][K] will hit when input on F58 as a true combo. In open stance /\ [1][K] will hit when input on F57 as a true combo. Against Wolf [1][K] will hit when input on F52 as a true combo. So the amount of extra time awarded for a CH juggle is not consistent (Ei +4F, Wo +2F). Taka does not change.

    Some others

    Eileen 58 closed 57 open
    Pai 56 closed 55 open
    Lei 54 both
    Jean 53 both
    Wolf 52 both
    Taka 74 lol

    Akira Knee vs Eileen
Techroll can be input on F72-75.
Akira [3][K] input on F85 will hit (+9)

    Akira knee vs Wolf
Techroll can be input on F68-71.
Akira [3][K] input on F81 will hit (+9)

Eileen can input [P]+[K]+[G] from F31-71 to get a stand up.
Akira [1][K] on F77 will hit (-6) (input of [P]+[K]+[G] doesn't change when [1][K] will hit.

Eileen can input techroll on F72-75
Akira [1][K] on F88 will hit when Eileen inputs techroll on F72.
However, if techroll is input on F73, [1][K] input on F88 will not hit. [1][K] input on F89 will hit.

i.e. for each frame later the techroll is input, the okizeme move will have to hit 1F later.

    Is it possible to find the active windows for Goh's [4] [P] [+] [K] [+] [G] and [2] [P] [+] [K] [+] [G]

    Goh's i12 [P] input on F0. Opponent presses [G] on F12 - blocks.

    Goh's input [P] on F0, opponent [4][P]+[K]+[G] on F -2til12 parries. Advantage varies from +0 to +14

    Goh's input [2][P] on F0, opponent [2][P]+[K]+[G] on F -3til12 parries. Advantage varies from to +16 to +31

Interesting question about VF's input system. If you press [2][P] for 1F (same frame) what happens?

Also, a request. If people are going to ask me to test things, please provide as much details as possible. I can't remember what reverses what, what parries what and what moves are meant to do. If you can include that in your post, it makes things quicker for me.

    OM

    [2]_[8] on F0, [P]+[K]+[G] on F2 (earliest possible input).

Lei [P] input up til F26 will still give sideturned status. Same with Akira. Same whether opponent holds guard or not.

Lei [K] input up til F26 will give sideturned status if opponent holds [G], any number if opponent doesn't hold guard.

Lei [4][P] input up til F26 will give sideturned status if opponent holds [G].

    [2] on F0, [P]+[K]+[G] on F12, [4][P] on F36 gives sideturned status, [4][P] on F37 does not.

[2] on F0, [P]+[K]+[G] on F13 does not give OM.

i.e. The input timing, not the speed of the move determine whether or not it will have sideturned properties.

    Dear Noodalls,

    Jide here

Goh has a move which allows him to Sabaki throws
[P] [K] [G] is it possible to know how large the window. I think this may actually be a 1f window.

Best test will be at -10.

    Opponent inputs throw on F0.
If GOH presses [P]+[K]+[G] on F0-10 the attack will beat the throw normally. (grey til 9)
If Goh presses [P]+[K]+[G] on F11 the throw will connect (grey 10)
If Goh presses [P]+[K]+[G] on F12-13 the throw will be sabaki'd (grey 11-12).
If Goh presses [P]+[K]+[G] on F14 the throw will connect (grey 11-12).
