EVO 2K10"Year Of The Upset"

Oh my, never witness so many upsets at EVO or any other tourny like this. Holeman and GM didn't make it to the finals at all in T6 I forgot what other know players got bodied. But those two were heavy favorites, at least Mr. Naps is there. Melty Blood was full of upsets because the game is at EVO. SSFIV had a lot of WTF moments that I enjoyed. Sabin losing focus towards the end, Tokido, losing to Floe.

The strange match between Stanford and the Korean player was weird(Random pauses) Wong losing to Vangief(Great zoning by him) Marn getting eliminated quick out of the SSFIV tourny, And VF Hayato beating Fuudo in VF5FS in losers after CidKid send him there. And we all know about the Adon match(Thats what Wong gets for thrashing Adon)Lets see what the Finals bring. I think Marn and Wong were feeling the pressure of being part of EG. That's what I think.

 

I still think Sanford got gypped badly. There were 2 separate malfunctions. The 1st one cost Sanford Game#1, cuz they say he paused.

Then in Game#2 the other malfunction happened on the other guy's side. That's TWO malfunctions in 3 minutes that's no accident! You can't say it's player error anymore. I had expected them to restart and give Sanford back Game#1. But no, they just didn't count the 2nd malfunction at all, but Sanford's Game#1 auto-loss still counted. He was completely thrown off his game and lost quickly.

It was tragic; I really liked the way he played in the tournament.

I haven't followed the pro scene before so I don't know how Wong usually plays; I just know his name by rep. But no matter what, you can tell he was under tons of stress this tournament for some reason. The commentators had mentioned that the room is very cold, all other players looked comfortable, but Wong was just sweating bullets all the time. I thought maybe he caught a flu. Then towards the end it started affecting his game and he was making multiple truly scrubby mistakes.

Given his reputation, and his experience participating in tournaments, I cannot believe that this is his usual level or that he's a guy who chokes.

I think SEGA actually bringing FS to EVO is positive news for a potential console version. If it's never being released in America, why bother?

guilty gear was about to have an upset, but then evo staff turned off the tv as the grand finals were going on so people can watch a ten year old documentary that's never going to make it's creators a dime.

 

It was totally tragic, even though I disagreed with the decision it was understandable that Sanford was punished because the pause was on his side, however the second pause was on the other players side, how the hell can that justify taking a round away from Sanford, it still makes no sense to me.

VFFS at evo 2010 WTF ?!! I watched the streams all day and most of the night yesterday and nobody on commentary mentioned it once, gotta be a good sign though if its there.

Yeah, looking forward to the top 8 today, even though I don't really play sfiv, fun to watch. Awesome seeing American players do as well as people from countries where these games actually have an arcade scene

yeah gamerbee was also top tier in cvs2 as well, iirc. he's no newcomer to the scene, he's just getting the exposure that he should've been getting earlier.

Ono is on stage with him as well. We have the head of Tekken and the head of SFIV/SSFIV at EVO as well as the lead producer of TvC and MvC3. Could you imagine the miracle it would take for Sega of Japan to send one of the head people at AM2 over to something like EVO? LOL! Sega is so fucking stupid.
