Frame timing windows for just-hit moves

I'm sure I'm not alone in finding the timing difficult on moves like Aoi’s [4],[6]+[P],[P]+[G] where you must wait to hit your opponent before entering the second part of the command. I know one method is to watch/listen for the hit, but since I’m a musician, learning the rhythm of the button presses seems easier for me. I’m really not much of a VF player, but since I wrote this information down for practicing, I figured some of the community might find it useful.

In Command Training you can turn on Command Information Type A and then watch the computer execute the move to get the frame delay for the second part of the move. However, there is a window of several frames during which you can execute the second part of these moves. Watching the command info will tell you if you're early or late. For some moves, the window changes a frame or two in either direction based on distance, but if you practice and get the timing down with the windows given you should be able to do these moves very consistently.

    Akira
    [2_],[6]+[P],[P]
    - wait 16-17 frames (sometimes 15 if you're very close) before the final [P]

    Aoi
    [4],[6]+[P],[P]+[G] (on hit)
    - wait 25-27 frames before the final [P]+[G]
    [2_],[3]+[P],[4]+[P]+[G] (on counter hit)
    - wait 15-17 frames before the final [4]+[P]+[G]

    Sarah
    from Flamingo [2]+[K],[P]+[G] (on hit)
    - wait 17-19 frames (sometimes 20 for max range)
    from Flamingo [K]+[G],[P]+[G] (on hit/block)
    - wait 35-36 frames

    Jacky
    [3]+[P]+[K],[P]+[G] (on hit)
    - wait 18-20 frames

Very good /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif. This kind of solution for doing those moves has never sprung to my mind /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.
It's fun when someone is diligent enough to solve these kind of problems and then share the answer with others /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.

I use this same method to practice hit throws. Especially ones for Goh and Wolf.

A matter of fact, I was training with Goh's hit throws last weekend. I thought about sharing my observations but didnt get around to it. I cant recall his frame executions exactly and cant verify at the moment but will post later unless someone beats me to it. I have noticed the frame window for hit throw execution never exceeds over 4 frames difference from earliest to latest input.

Excellent first post by the way. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

For Wolf' [4][K]+[G](hit)[P]+[G] wait about 17~19 frames.

It seems then the frames you have to input the throw or next attack are during the hit or active frames, i.e. beginning in the last frame of execution and lasting through all the hit frames before the attack is in recovery.

According to 1/60th, Akira's [2_][6][P] executes in 16 frames and has only 2 hit frames, which would explain why you must input the second [P] during the 16th or 17th frame. On the other hand, Aoi's [2_][3][P] executes in 15 frames and has 3 hit frames, which is why you can get [4][P]+[G] during frames 15-17. Sarah's [FL] [2][K], [P]+[G] only has 2 hit frames, so I'm not sure what's going on there. Also, Wolf's [4][K]+[G] has 4 hit frames, so maybe you can get in [P]+[G] during 17-20.

Assuming you get all the hit frames to input the next command, for Goh, it should be:
    [6][6][P], [4][P]+[G] - 16-17
    [6][6][K]+[G], [4][P]+[G] - 26-30
    [3][K]+[G], [6][K]+[G] - 24-26

For Jeffery: [2]+[K]...go grab a beer... come back, [2][3][6][P]+[G].
