FS Character Storyline: Lei-Fei

Lei-Fei was under orders from the Grandmaster to stamp out the Koen-ken martial art once and for all. However, after facing Lau in the 4th World Fighting Tournament and experiencing its power first hand he came up with a devious plan that, with any luck, would ensure he had the secrets of this powerful fighting art for himself.

After successfully approaching Lau at the tournament and skillfully ingratiating himself with him, Lei-Fei was able to start training in the Koen-ken style as Lau’s apprentice. However, over time he became increasingly impatient. Frustrated that Lau’s teachings were not bringing him closer to the essence of Koen-ken fast enough, one day Lei-Fei attacked him without warning . He believed that the only way to get to the ultimate truth of Koen-ken was to attack the master with all his might. Lei-Fei was surprised to see that Lau, who was so impressive in the previous tournament and once revered as legendary, was nowhere near as strong as he remembered.

“Huh. Well then, I have no further need for you,” he said callously, and continued his unrelenting assault. After battering Lau to his knees, Lei-Fei stood over him with a triumphant glint in his eyes. “And now, with this final blow, Koen-ken will cease to be,” he whispered. As he was just about to finish Lau off, Pai appeared from seemingly out of nowhere. Caught off guard and winded by Pai’s ferocious defense of her father, Lei-Fei was forced to retreat.

As a result, Lei-Fei had failed his mission to put an end to Koen-ken. Moreover, he had failed to secure the martial art as his own or uncover any of its secrets. Unable to face the Grandmaster as a failure, Lei-Fei had nowhere to turn. The only option left to him was to continue training alone, and develop the strength necessary to defeat anyone who came after him. Lei-Fei decided to purge himself of Koen-ken, and used the pressure against him to drive himself to become stronger than ever before.

He had no more lingering regrets about Koen-ken. Now with his formidable fighting skills and renewed confidence, Lei-Fei felt he was ready to redeem himself in the eyes of the Grandmaster and entered the 5th World Fighting Tournament.
