I have been meaning to ask you this for the longest. Do you think you could find out what happened to KASHIWA JEFFRY? I really, really, really want to know please. He was my idol, well he still is! Did he just stop playing, moved out of Japan? What? I am sure with your connections you can find out something. He was a well respected player, so I am sure he is missed on the virtual battle ground. I am sure KYASA-O, or BUN BUN would know, since they were all good friends. But, I don't know if you ever see those players though. bah I sound like a desperate dreamer. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif anyways could you find out something, anything for me.

 

Never heard of Kashiwa Jeffry (I was out of games for quite a while there during a 2-3 year crisis of mine). Anyways, it sounds like he's quite fire away - Kashiwa is an unconfortable 45-50 minutes out of town.

Anyways, I do see those guys from time to time. I'll ask around and see what's up.

I was eating dinner with Heruru and some VF/FV2 crew this weekend... we started talking about the famous players of old. He mentioned that Kashiwa has officially retired. Shame.

 

thanks.... did they say why? Did he just want to move on, or did he feel he had nothing more to prove? It is a shame, because he was one of the original tetsujins, and at one point during the vf2 days. He was voted over all the best player. Even over kyasao and such.... heh chibita wasn't around then. He was still potty training, but did show up towards the end of the vf2 days to rock the house and become the monster that he is today.

Cha, ESQ. was telling me the other day that he used to play kashiwa regularly in VF3 back in the day. It was a tedious task, apparently kashiwa likes to not just win but also to humiliate you, maybe by finding some hole in your game and finding a flashy way to expose it.

So I guess we know that kashiwa did some VF3 closer to the end of its life ? And then from there faded out.
Of course he might have at least TRIED vf4 - I remember on the TBAC clips there was an exhibition between shinjuku jacky and ike sarah, and they had a few dozen games on. Maybe those games happened all in one day, maybe not...

 

Aren't you talking about the Shihou Toujou Zepp Tokyo tournament? That was just some exhibition goofy thing. I remember when one of the guys got up there with a 2-dan card, the group kind of laughed. Apparantly it was good fun.

 

wow, didn't know me and chibita shared the same mentor. Well it still blows that one of vf's greatest players just faded out like that. It really saddens me to see people like kyasao and bun-bun are still going strong, and kashiwa just walked away. Well I am sure he has his reasons.
hehe kashiwa was very famous for humiliating his opponents. I remember seeing a vf2 vid of him abusing a jacky player who liked to low P to much with jeffry's machine gun knee kick. lol it's so fucking hard to pull that move off consistantly, but he was doing it. damn he was the man. sniff sniff GOD I MISS HIM.
Gaijin Punch, help me bring him back man. Tell your peeps from kashiwa to go find that fool so he can come back and own people. I would love to see his creativity in evo with jeff.
