Is this a new band, or have they been around for a while? They sound familiar, but I can't think of any of their songs....

Is it new material? I'm in a musical rut... I don't know what I like anymore, but they still hold one of my top 10 favorite songs of all time... Temptation.

I believe he was just pointing out the factual innaccuracy of your post, not that there was anything wrong with coming from the 80s.

And I always preferred Joy Division myself.

well i know that joy division used to be new order until their frontman suicided....
still...were any of their songs good?

New order tracks to check out:
    regret
    60 miles an hour
    crystal (WICKED track!)
    here to stay
    bizarre love triangle

Yes Joy Division are fantastic. Tracks I'd reccomend especially are atmosphere, transmission, digital, dead souls and of course love will tear us apart again.

Not to say that I'm not a big fan of new order. They're a great band that's released a wealth of good material over the years.

Why do you feel the need to identify the music in a genre?

Anyway, if you dig Joy Division as was previously suggested as something you might do, then I'd also recommend Interpol, who have clearly been paying attention to the good part of the 80's.

id term the music as electronica/ new age rock.

Interpol huh? ....i mite check em out.....

Yeah, new order, great band, oviously Blue Monday is some seminal student abused song (and rightly so), but I always preferred Joy Division myself, I'll have to dig out my old Unknown Pleasures and Closer LP's, now that's proper music, none of this Drum n bass, hip hop, blah blah crap u get today, oh and Warsaw was one of my favourite Joy Div song's not yet mentioned.
