Hey Justin. If you were stranded on a deserted island and you only had a choice of one fighting game you could bring along with you, which fighting game would it be?

I think I would bring a puzzle game called Magical Drop 3. It’s a fun puzzle game and the first arcade game I ever touched in the arcade. But for a fighting game, I would probably pick Virtual Fighter 5 since it’s a hard fighting game to master and to master one characters takes very very long.

First off it helps to know where you are pulling that from (JWong's website). Secondly, Justin should know it's 'Virtua' not 'Virtual' though it's a common mistake at this point. And lastly, great answer, though I would have gone with VF4:EVO personally because it has the tutorials, better A.I., and I like the system mechanics and faster pace better.

VF (Quest) and Tekken (Ghost) are about the only fighting games I can think of that offer any chance to be fun without human opponents over the long haul.

Wait, Justin Wong said that? I am shocked. I figured he never bothered with VF.

To quote 3SOE's main song, "RESURRECTION!!!"

Anyway, I wonder what his views are now with the upcoming release. He showed interest in KOF XIII and even MK9, so I'm pretty sure he might take a shot at it if the money is good in tournaments...

MK9 is a 2D game, like most fighting games nowadays. I dont think Jwong will be playing 3D games any time soon..

Understood. However, there was a point in time in which he played Tekken, the most recent one no less. Come to think of it, he's played TTT even... Who knows, he might jump on sc5 if the dough is looking right, or if the scene blows up...

What's that about Seth Killian and VF in your sig?

Oh yeah that... Let me explain...

This last Evo where Seth did the commentary for some matches, he was giving some background on Fuudo during a match. Anyway, he ended the bio with something along the lines of "Fuudo's decided to go where the 'fun' is..."

Thing is, Fuudo still plays VF probably as much as SF, so that comment imo was felonious and to me it pointed out his "disdain" for VF (my guess is he probably doesn't understand the game). Sure he's Capcom's "hypeman", but throwing mud, be it ever so subtle, was totally jacked up imo.

VF already gets tons of hate or disrespect from people (big wigs and no names alike) who "respect" the game, but don't have the stones to learn or even play the game, and those that look at the game, or read forums and say "ugh its too hard, I quit/it sucks"... I hope Sega heard it, too, so they can make FS even better and truly show how fun the game can actually be...

Anyway, back on topic... Justin Wong blah blah blah. Nah, to add on to what I was saying awhile ago, he does play 3d games, so there's still hope just yet... Personally, I think someone who's "big" in VF should challenge him to some matches. Just give him a week to train or whatever, or just tell him to "tier whore" which he does do, and then battle it out...

We don't need that community's approval.

The sponsorship/endorsement checks that get cut for all the PR spin going on (edit: at SRK) might be sweet, though.

You talk about "we" like this is some holy grail of exclusiveness we need to protect. Meh, if the guy brings in more competition I'm all for his spins.

Yeah sorry, I'm just responding to the idea that we need someone like Wong to legitimize VF or something. That could very well be me just pre-firing against something that wasn't said lol

Whether he plays it or not, I care not... He just better not place top 4 in US tourneys when we have strong players here...

Ugh, I remember one KoF tourney he was in, and he just slaughtered with just fundamentals from the looks of it... But whatever...

I'd rather see Gamerbee and Fuudo make a return, even Ryan Hart...

Well, if someone else from another community wins with minimal effort then that's just desserts for NAVF frankly. Then the inevitable excuses that crop up in the wake of a win like that often set off a big drama bomb and ultimately lead nowhere. The VFDC "told you so" crowd will definitely be ready to pounce after that and justifiably so.
