This thread is to inform you that the first reliable mirror for the kakutou shinseki live feed is available on IRC - via an Fserve.

The fserve trigger is !tournament ... the command to use afterwards is

get jamshow_512k.asf

It's 811 megs, aieee. Make absolutely sure you understand how IRC resuming works before downloading this - for newbies, you want to do the following:

DCC --> options --> folders (on the left) --> change the DCC ignore dropdown to say "disabled" --> uncheck the box below that says "turn back on in [5] minutes"

This will allow you to accept the file. If the download dies for any reason - just attempt to get it again using the usual methods and mirc will prompt you to resume, overwrite, or rename the download. Choose resume. You'll pick up the download where it left off. You can watch the movie as you download it, but remember it's not seekable. I recommend pausing it if you need a break.

All of these instructions pertain to mirc; mac and unix users, and windows users who prefer non-mirc-based clients will have to do some research.

Finally, when the movie becomes available through other means, i.e. http or ftp, it will be posted here.

Enjoy!

Maybe distributing it through bittorrent would be a better idea.
It would take some load of the main server and get it around faster I think. I dunno how to make a tracker though... /versus/images/graemlins/blush.gif

btw, is this beeing served by the CreeDo bot on #vfhome? the Fserve seems to be down /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: Kakutou Shinseki II download thread.

Sorry guys, I tried to put up an autoresponder explaining what was up, but it didn't work -

I turned off the file server in favor of uploading the clip to barrybot. Barrybot has a 12MB/s connection and can serve several cable and DSL whores are full speed at the same time. So in ... 10ish hours you guys can go nuts downloading at 120 kbps instead of 3.

I haven't downloaded them yet, but tbzone appears to be hosting the file in chunked zip files:

http://tbzone.gameshot.net/vf4/movie_clip/kakutou2/kakutou2.alz
http://tbzone.gameshot.net/vf4/movie_clip/kakutou2/kakutou2.a00
http://tbzone.gameshot.net/vf4/movie_clip/kakutou2/kakutou2.a01
http://tbzone.gameshot.net/vf4/movie_clip/kakutou2/kakutou2.a02

The zip program used is called alzip (www.alzip.com) and it's a pretty nice one, I let it handle a lot of my zip files. I have no idea what the contents of these zips are... I imagine they split the 800 meg file (ragnafrak's or their own) into 4 chunks of 200 megs, and have provided instructions on how to merge them back into 1 file with alzip.

Hrmm... it seems someone over on the tbzone staff captured the live stream just like I did, it might be convertable tho, I guess it all depends on what kind of program they used to save the live feed. I know it is not mine though, as it's 831MB total and 811MB.. downloading right now to check it out.

the TBzone vid is the same as mine, looks like it was grabbed off of suprgolden's ftp and then ALZip'ed and rehosted by tbzone

Does anyone have this file in a different format yet? I'm using Windows 98 (not the second edition), so I don't have the ability to use Media Player 9. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

My only hope is that VFzone hosts all the matches eventually.

98 first edition can't play wmv9... wtf have you been doing downloading all these things /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Someone else with the same problem mentioned it and I tried a few solutions with him, mostly alternate players + the codecs. All failed.
You basically will need to install 98SE. This movie has resisted all efforts to be converted.

Since my buddy is gonna install 98SE right this minute, I can tell you how it went (i.e. was he able to keep all his files).

[/ QUOTE ]it's looking pretty slim for this to happen (at least not my file (tbzone's)).. i've tried tons of things to get it into convertable form and it's just a no go ;[

E-Z irc fserve info - 12MB/s connection.

First off, to Dre - you can install 98SE over your original 98 without losing any of your existing files. My buddy got it going and he's on irc if you want to, uh, 'discuss' the windows98SE install file.

To everyone else, the upload to barrybot is complete (Thanks to supergolden) and here are the exact commands needed to grab the 800 meg movie easily:

join #vfhome
type !fserve
barrybot will initiate a chat with you. Wait for his welcome message.
type cd kakutou_2
type get kakutou_shinseki_2.asf

Accept the incoming file and you're good to go. If the file type is ignored, disable DCC ignore in DCC --> options --> folders (on the left).

Anyone else having playback problems? SuperG asked me about it yesterday on IRC and I hadn't encountered any. I was continuing to watch it this evening and between 1:33-2:03 (hr:min) I have encountered 15 seperate freeze-up's lasting between 5sec and 2mins in length each time. The past 30 minutes has basically been unwatchable. Does this improve?

5 More times within the next 10 minutes, this is crazy annoying. Was it like this during the broadcast?

this might just have happened to random parts of the file, due to dips in the download speed while streambox was saving it. i apologize for any bad sections of the movie, but what can i/we do? XD

hopefully sega will either release all the matches ala saveable streams.. or we can eventually get the whole vid converted to something editable
