Does anyone have an opinion or at least know exactly why Sega took away some moves? Two that come to mind right away (which looked painful and cool as hell) were Jeffrey's side throw arm break and his side low throw where he punched the opponent through his legs.

How about VF4 Lion's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif? Personally I thought it was unfair that Lion was the only person to have this throw direction, especially when he didn't need another one.

Boy, I can't think of anymore right now. I thought I had a bunch to talk about. Well, if anyone else does let's hear it!

I remember importing the Dreamcast and buying VF3tb. Jacky had a move I believe was called the Lighting Striaght /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and to do his normal 3ppp you had to do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif[P/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. I remember my japanese copy stopped working so I brought the USA one and the Lighting straight was gone and it was just /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. I thought at the time that they forgot to insert the move in the game but now I'm thinking the USA version was an updated version of VF3

well Lion's throw was removed because obviously it was just way too strong and it's as you said he was the only one who had that direction. No one ever escaped it! I remember when Adam played with him during beginning of VF4 it was pretty much the only throw that he used and even though we knew it was coming we never escape.

As for Jeffry, even I have often wondered why wolf gets to keep his low side throw and such but Jeffry loses his. Jeffry always seems to lose something in the throw department, where as wolf always seems to gain a few. I was actually shocked when I saw his new VF5 throw where he drops your face on his knee. Personally as big and strong as the guy is I think he needs more brutal throws.

Jeff should have his VF3 wall throw /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif back.

Thats the coolest throw ever! Slam your face into the wall, drag it along the wall and then kick ya up tha ass! That was my shit. I liked Giant swing over the edge of the 'Great Wall' too

Funny that you mention this because for the years Sam, Boyd, Alexei, and I played it was only escaped once by me. Against better judgement I went to Sam's sicker than shit and drugged up on Nyquil and that's when I escaped it. =)

On a side note of other missing moves, and myabe LA Akira has some imput on this, I could swear that in VF4 arcade (not EVO or PS version), Shun's BT punches also involved him kicking low. I can't imagine this was the case but it seemed like this attack was both high and low at the same time. Am I on drugs?

Pai's DDT! WTF?? That was the greatest move in VF. Also her 4p punch reversal which came out as a simple p if there was nothing to reverse--arguably VF's first sabaki, if you think about it.

Yeah, I used to use that DDT for the instant ring-out. That sucker was quick as hell to. After playing VF4 EVO I was favoring Wolf's ground pick-up Belly-To-Back suplex over his VF5 Final Cut, oh well...

And what in the hell happened to Lau's Double Stomp Pursuit? Guess at his age he can only jump on someone ONCE :p

Pai's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif in VF1 was rather broken, it took mid and high kicks and punches (possibly even elbows) and if input at the wrong moment the fastest move in the game came out... Can you say win-win? Ah VF1, on the one hand I'd love to play you again, on the other I know I'm going to get annoyed as hell with you.

    CarolinaPanther:
    Definately Lau's double stomp.

I used to love Akira's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif throw in VF1 (the slide by elbow between the shoulder blades that left both players BT to each other) They've since incorporated it in other moves but it never looked as cool.

Akira's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif from VF4E. I loved the evasive properties on that thing and the way you just bowled people over with it. Now it's a safe side turner that makes me go rather meh.

    Doesn't Akira's 46P+K+G give + on block?

    It's pretty fast, too.

Yeah it was called the Drum punch. It was removed in the VF3on dreamcast.

Lets see. Do anybody remebers pai's Wall throw?
Th DDT with the Kick off the Wall? That shit was beautiful.I love that move. How about the Jacky Driver? His original throw that was strong as hell. How about Jacky Double 2+KK crouching?
or Lau's Top Spin? Jeffry toe kick in a splash mountian was too overpowering. Remember Wolf's Dashing grab with the arm toss in VF3? How about his Torture rack into the Razors edge?
Theres too many moves remove throughout years.

    Kage's Overhand chop
    Jacky's Knee into kick combination
Akira's standing elbow and flying knee (same as Jeffery's).

That was an excellent anti side step move for Akira, and great for avoiding highs and throws too.

You might be right. VF4 Version A and Version B had a whole bunch of moves that were removed or changed in Version C and later. Jacky and Jeffrey in particular had most of their animations changed drastically. I can't remember all the changes, but I do recall a few that I liked.

Vanessa used to be able to do offensive stance [2] [K] [P] [P] in both stances, and her [6] [P] [+] [K] in offensive stance had an animation really similar to Brad's [6] [P] [+] [K] . Pai had [IMG] [K] [K] which was a low kick and sweep, and [4] [P] was a lunging mid palm stab which caused stomach crumple. Jeffrey's [4] [P] had a different animation, longer range and better recovery, although didn't have the extra canned punch followup. Jeffrey also had [3] [P] [P] [3] [P] which was absolutely hilarious for mix ups.

From other games, I like Wolf's SSD, Pai's DDT, Dural's punch punch elbow flipkick combo, and Jacky's GODLY BEAT KNUCKLE OF DOOM from VF2, and occasionally I miss being able to roll forward on wakeup in VF3.

I'd like Sega to include an option to unlock the old movesets for the old characters, but this would probably unbalance the game severely.

The animation on Jacky's [3][P]+[K] hit throw was slick as fuck in VF4. Shouldn't have changed it.

Shoju good shout on the second jacky lighting kicks animation.
I really do miss Jacky's vf4 animation. He just looks so awesome when hes in full flow.

I know the moves I miss right off the bat were:

    Wolf
    SSD (Steiner Screw Driver)
Catch (behind opponent) - Double German Suplex
Opponent down on back, head towards - Off the ground Release German Suplex
    [6] [6] [P] [+] [G] Flying Mare (I think)

    Jacky
    Northern Light Driver
Beat Knuckle 3-String (high and low)

    Pai
    DDT
The other version of the PPP [2]K (she didn't take all year to do the sweep.

I miss Vanessa's DS[4][K]. It was just a sweet looking retreat kick. Staggered on normal hit, but you were too far away to capitalize. Still, it was a great tool for spacing. I think sega took it away because too many players were using it for running away, not spacing.
