Looks like a return to form for the MK series? They are certainly going back to their roots, I notice the stages are all throwbacks to the earlier games in the series. So at least the nostalgia factor is sky high.

That being said, even if reviews roast the game, I'll be purchasing this without question.

Edit: LOL another fighter announced for consoles before VF5FS.

Still looks like the fighting will be ridged and stiff. I'm going to hold off with a wait and see approach.

I was too young to play MK back when it was big (parents wouldn't let me play it) so I don't have a much of the nostalgia factor playing in here.

I've long since lost faith in Mortal Kombat. The most involvement I'll have with the game is watching the scrotal sacriledge, along with any other amusing fatalities, on Youtube.

That said, don't let me ruin anyone else's hopes of this being the first good Mortal Kombat game in over a decade [IMG]

Wasn't Komat that little green guy who blew up the dam when Rei fought Yuda in Fist of the North Star?

Hyped as always. A "new" fighting game is always welcome. Say what you will, it's going to beat Tekken and SF4 to the ground with popularity... or at least Tekken xD.... And in the West only [IMG]

DAY ONE! I'd reserve a copy right now if they would let me lol. The game looks bad ass. While I'm a closet MK fan I have long given up on the series. I still usually purchase the game upon it's release in hopes that it will be good, but it always seems to disappoint. The major disappointment comes from just how fucking stiff the characters feel. Cheese and rice if midway could fix this and make the game feel more smooth like DOA, Tekken, VF I'd be a fucking happy man. The other disappointment comes from the controls. It's like with every new game they are adding another button. They add so many buttons and techniques etc that usually the button scheme is so fucked that I have to reconfigure it for an arcade stick and then to top that off sometimes reconfiguring doesn't even help. For the love of god midway just go back to your basic 6 button system ala MK3 / UMK3. If VF can always advance using just 3 buttons how the fuck can't MK advance using 6? My last gripe is play mechanics. Do we really need things like Pro moves????? Yeah I won't even go on.

Removes the stiffness, bring back the normal MK3 / UMK3 button scheme and leave the useless shit that a noob needs to make himself feel like he is a pro.

Anyway DAY ONE purchase like I said... usually if I think the game is bad it's shelved by day 4-5, because I refuse to torture myself. LOL actually I think I shelved MK vs DC by day 3 and never even played 1 online match because the damn controls were just so god damn awful imo [IMG]

MK vs DC was silly to play on a stick, no configuration seemed to work.

This MK game looks like it could actually be interesting, it reminds me of MK 2 & 3 and I know I was young when they were released but those games were awesome at the time.

    Re: Mortal Komat - reboot

Yeah you are absolutely right Feck. Playing on stick was meaningless, but unfortunately I'm not skilled enough to use a pad for fighters. I can only play with a stick. The only exception to this would be MK2 which didn't require complex inputs for any fighter to date.

The game's trailer really does make it look like it will be a good game. And I agree it does kind of look MK2 / MK3-ish. Here is hoping for the best of both worlds. The stiffness will be the overall deciding factor. I swear when they were using digitize characters all MK games played 10 times smoother. The moment they went 3D with MK4(arcades) that's when things started to go to shit imo.

Finally 2.5D where it's supposed to be. MK just never felt right in 3D at all. It's been a rough 13 years. Maybe it can recapture that MK2/MK3 magic. I miss those days. First Street Fighter gets reborn, now Mortal Kombat is doing the same thing. I like it!
