[nycHOTNESS] let the domination begin - chinatown gets EVO

Chinatown finally gets Evo.

-High res monitor.
-Japanese style (sanwa) sticks and buttons.
-Crisp ass sound (Andy donated one of his subwoofers to sit beside cabinet!) /versus/images/icons/grin.gif
-Stage select!
-Best of 5 (vs play).
-50 cents per game!

We will be working on league nights (once a week - probably on Tuesdays) where records will be kept. And if people are interested, a tournament once a month. We will try to convince arcade op to put machine on free play during league nights for 6 hours, but participants must pay fee of course.

Thanks for the suggestions Llanfair and Godeater! Also, a big thanks to Andy (CrewNYC) for spearheading phase 1 of projectEVO in NYC - this couldn't have been possible without you. We'd probably be wasting money ($1 per game?!?!) on shitty sticks at Lazer Park if not for Andy and Sam (arcade owner from Chinatown fair).

NYC players, please use this thread for setting up meet times, etc.

Actually I was just there a little while ago, it was off and had a sign that said 'do not touch'. The guys at CTF said Evo should be up and running in the next few days. I guess it's not wuite ready yet /versus/images/icons/frown.gif

Awesome! Rich and I will be around NYC this weekend and will be able to play Friday and Saturday... What times are there the most competition?

It will be our first time in the famed CTF arcade - also hoping to get to meet some of the New York Players ...

The broken 1 st player stick is fixed. Is anyone getting together this weekend?

NYC player here, decided if I'm gonna get any better at my Aoi I better start reading up. Question: Anyone got some information on exactly what the new sticks -are-? I know they're Japanese style from the first post, and that I'm really really not used to them from my personal experience.

 

Adam or Andy could better answer your question but I think they are called "Sanva" sticks. I guess "Sanva" is a company for arcade parts like "Happs" is to American arcade parts. All of American made sticks and buttons come from Happs I think. They have 4 different types of sticks. CF games have 360's I think.
