If the next Virtua Fighter has any chance for lasting success it has to properly prioritize the real VF Community's need.
I've listed these in rank order from the most important to least important. But to be clear everything in the list is important for a lasting success that builds the VF fan base;)

    • Substantial single player content including legit CPU AI, Win/Loss profiles, a Quest Mode.
    • Tournament Mode for Offline Versus, with brackets
    • The Same match types that are used in rooms (VF5US) online should be available in Versus Mode Offline
    • Offline Player Profiles for Versus Mode (we had these in VF4, VF4EVO)
    • Offline Player Profiles for Single Player Mode (We had these in every VF including VF5)
    • Player Ring Names in all Offline Modes including Versus Offline
    • The ability to save Replays in all Offline Modes
    • The ability to edit Replays offline
    • Customizations available in Offline Mode for Player 1 and Player 2
    • Improved Dojo Mode (features) that exceeds features in Tekken's 8 Dojo mode and SC6 Dojo Mode.
    • The full online capabilities Room Mode/Tournament Mode from VF5US
    • Rollback and tight netcode
    • Options to turn off on screen effects

IMO this set of features would lead to a successful Virtua Fighter reboot and guarantee a vibrant and growing Virtua Fighter community. I know many folks on this site believe that Rollback is the sole thing that will save VF. I can assure those folks that's not the case. Although rollback and good net code is necessary, its not sufficient and won't be enough to catapult Virtua Fighter to new success. On the other hand the above list will definitely do the trick.;)

The problem is, Seiji Aoki and RGG won't want to make this kind of investment in Virtua Fighter. They will claim there is no budget. The sad fact is micro-transactions, in-game-stores, for-pay-stages and DLC and the promise of esports winnings and fame just won't work in this case.

:ROTFL::LOL: Hopefully Seiji Aoki and RGG will see this list of priorities and consider it a necessary to-do-list:holla:(y)

I like how you did not mention hit sparks once, and instead decided to focus on quality of life improvements that a new VF would benefit from. I agree with every single thing you mentioned, and I have nothing to argue over. (y)

If Sega/RGG delivers this list., The VF community will grow with amazing speed. (y) On the other hand if Sega/RGG just focus on online/e-sports with a in-game-purchase-overpriced-DLC monetization scheme and only offering the roll-back carrot, the VF community will continue to dwindle:(.

I agree. The online/e-sports aspect and the games core aesthetic are incredibly important to VF, but single player and extra casual content with an in-depth training mode is what will give VF the most leverage.

Esports are all about appealing to the people watching the fights. Hence, come back mechanics and even cut scenes in the middle of rounds popping up in every game. I'd rather VF ignore esports altogether.

    Priorities:

Gameplay comes first. Keep the core gameplay intact. No meters, no heat or whatever, and no changing camera angles to show some stupid canned animation of fighters powering up. VF's straight forward, technical system is what makes it VF. That being said I do hate the stagger system. Any mechanic that requires the player to press buttons as wildly and fast as possible is a bad mechanic. There's no reason the speed at which players exit stagger can't be decided by how fast they react with a single button press. P+K+G perhaps. I don't even try to exit staggers half the time, because it's a hassle.

PC release. Paying for online through a console is unethical. I'm not spending hundreds of dollars to play VF. Nobody should ever say to themselves, "I haven't played VF6 in a while, I think I'll jump online for a few matches; Oh I have to pay Sony $XX.XX, never mind." I certainly will not buy the game if it isn't released for PC.

Online. People cannot still be complaining about net code for this release. Provide good connectivity and a variety of modes.

Single player. Arcade mode needs leader boards. Add a point system to it, so people can compete. A large quest mode with AI that have different styles similar to those of real players. At least one more single player mode that does something else interesting with AI.

Art direction. Don't half ass the art. People need to look at VF and think it not only looks cool, but looks unique. Think outside the box. Compliment the fighters. Since "hit sparks" are inevitable, I think it would be really cool if each fighter had their own personalized "flash" instead everybody producing the same hit sparks as each other. It would make the characters more interesting too, which is another complaint that should be addressed.

Training mode. Address every game play mechanic you can think of.

Cost. No ads. No product placement. $70 should buy the player the full game including all DLC. Don't scam players like Capcom by slowly leaking out the game to charge more, while pretending half a game is the full game.

I want Shun Di and great Netcode.

And great customization system like VF4 Evo and VF5FS with unique sets per character.

Please don't copy the dumb Tekken system with Shared outfits and items

I hope that it has controller rumble feedback. Tekken 8 has that and I like it a lot.
EDIT: @Acid: SF6 is a decent game and it was worth what I paid for it for me. I bought one DLC character and I think that it's common for games to charge for DLC. It'd be nice if all DLC characters were free, but a contradicting precedent has been set.
EDIT 2: I agree with most of the rest of your post.

Also more info tonight via VF direct. I'm still in disbelief. I'm having trouble focus on game awards lol. At first I thought it was a trailer for resident evil 5 remake due to environment design. Then thought it was Yakuza/like a dragon. Until I heard Akira....

They really need to remove the joystick pop in. Change it for something else

They need to remove Jean and Eileen and make SDE 12f (if the game is based on VF4's system and mechanics, though I presume they will go for something new this time).
