Reaction times

I thought it'd be interesting to know how do VF players' reaction times look like. Personally, I'm not an advanced player, I just played VF2 (on PC) and VF4:Evo (on PS2) casually. But I used to practice Shotokan Karate in real life.

Anyway, I used this little flash to measure my reaction time, and here are the results:

Best: 0.181
Worst: 0.202
Average: 0.192

As far as playing VF goes, this test is pointless. You know exactly what you have to react to, and you know it's coming. If there was a one move in VF, you could block it every time too, even if it were 10 frames. There's more to playing than pure reaction time.

If you want to know just the general people's reaction times, I can tell you without them taking the test. They will be anywhere from 0.15 to 0.25 seconds. Anything under 0.10 isn't reaction, it's prediction and lucky timing (reaction time shorter than 0.10 seconds in considered a false start in athletics 100m sprint).

 

True, but I think it's still interesting to know the distribution, you know. The 0.15 - 0.25 range is a bit too broad.

 

A range of 1/10 of a second is too broad? Come on.

If you want confirmation of your elite shotokan skills, fine. Your results are good.
