Utilizing the slammers? + some combo questions

    so I was playing with Akira...and some questions popped in my mind:D

    How should I use these two moves?(i just call them the slammers)
    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

    I simply loves these two moves, especially the first one.
    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif double palm gives me somewhere around 86 on counter? man I gotta LOVE that!
    The only way that I found to use this goddam slow move is to use it after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif, so i can connect to /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif quickly and launch this move, but since Akira always has to be close to opponent, I can't get to safer distance to use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. If I do backward crouch dash twice, lots of time the opponent just stays still because they know that Akira has /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif(which I also love).

    So lots of time 214p whiffs and I get hella punished /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

    Is there any way to put this move in a more practical way?


    Also on videos I watched lots of Akira players using /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif right after successful evasion, but for some reason I just can't do that!(I cannot distinguish successful and failed evasion quickly right now). Is there any other way to put this move in use? I feel that on hit this one has frame advantage, which gives me enough frame to squash in SDE for counter sometimes.

    I'm also experimenting with 214p to know when I can use it. I love the move, but I don't always know when to apply it except at the start of matches (because several moves won't quite reach, and the move will hit on critical). It is also nice because it grants advantage on block - makes it rewarding to use if you know how. As for the 64P+G throw, that is blockable. If you press 8P+K, they can block it with 8G. If you press 2P+K, 2G blocks it. Akira gets nothing guaranteed from it but mixup and frame advantage (it is a catch throw after all).

    You can use 214P on fuzzy guarding opponents since its a slower attack

    Use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif against rising kicks as it has a hit detection frame of 4(2nd longest to /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif which is 5) so it has a higher chance of MCing rising kicks. Shun's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif has a hit detection frame of 29 so it has the highest chance of beating a rising kick.

    Try to do it just outside the range of the rising kick so that you are safe if you miss.

    I have never seen strong Akiras doing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif after a successful evade. It takes 24 frame to execute and only has a combo on MC. Might as well do SPOD or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. On successful evade, you would want a fast move to hit your opponent's recovery.

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif > Dbl palm works only on Eileen, Aoi & Pai in ver B. You may even replace Dbl palm with DLC too. In Ver C it works on midweights too. I don't have xbox and have only seen it on Kage and Leifei.

    Actually I was talking about after the P+K followup hits.
    So the combo goes 64P+G - 2or8 - P+K - 466P+K - 66KK

    I was asking if 466P+K is guaranteed to hit, cuz my opponents block this...I guess my input was too slow?

    Not sure about Version C, but you can refloat an opponent with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif after a successful Youhou (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif) - can't remember if it had to be counterhit/normal hit or both for this to work, though.

    Opponent should never be able to block the 466p+k. If they did, it was your fault, because it should hit in the back.

    Yep, can bounce after yoho quite easy, just do one(or more) punch before /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, but afaik the damage isnt that special compared to his other options.

    Version C combo is /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif - DLC. Works on most characters now. Up to Lau I think. As for how to use the standing double palm, I try to use it after backdash or evade, when I expect opponent to rush forward and attack.

    I dont feel that /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is very special outside combos, because it has not evasive properties I know of. Also the canned evade followup is bit weak framewise. But it does have one thing. If it is blocked, Akira recovers crouching and situation is even. You can use this against the slowest punch characters (wolf,jeff,aoi) since their fastest move is 12 frames, same as Akiras doublepalm from crouch, meaning DbPm will interrupt anything they try to do (Aoi can reverse though) after a blocked /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.

    On counterhit, the followup doublepalm is a combo.

    Yes, it is guaranteed afaik. But the timing is tight. I think you need exact input on bodycheck.

    Not sure, I might test if I remember. At a glance it looks like it should work.

    Dbl palm has been changed to a 13 frame move from VF4 to VF5. A guarded /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif to dbl palm won't be able to beat 12 frame punches anymore. If /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif connects on counter hit, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif has the best damage.

    After the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif(wall slam), its actually a wall stagger and can be struggle out so its not guaranteed. There is a waggle icon actually.

    Thanks, I've only managed to use this move probably on 2 people my whole ranked online Career as Akira. [when people realize you're not an idiotic Akira, they suddenly have this very amusing fear of WALLZ...]

    I know you can wall splat his single palm thrust. Perhaps CH only? In any case, I've practiced nasty wall combos juggling with Akira, Vanessa, Sarah, Jacky, and Aoi. [just messing around, my only serious characters are akira and vane with sarah becoming a sexy possibility. My Akira harem WILL be complete!]

    Still though, are there any 'guarunteed' 100+ dmg combos with Akira? I know 3 keys are necessary...

    Little / no juggling, the scaling [especially from DLC, damnit.. ;_;] pretty much ruins the damage output.

    CH. Obviously

    A crumple of some sort and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif bounce. I've noticed with MANY other characters, bounce off the ground combos do STUPIDLY high amounts of damage, even though they contain the fewest hits for a combo. [thus less scaling]

    Biggest combo i've seen involves 3 hits.
    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif 80 dmg depending on CH.

    If I'm feeling merciful [which is quite funny when people realize the 'mercy' combo looks more painful] I use this:

    and yeah, I call the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif variant ending Cannon just cause it's cooler...

    The only 100 point combo I know of without wall is when opponent does a big launcher and you evade to his back(towards his leading foot):

    Against some girls (maybe more), I've been getting:

Nice thing too is that like SDE /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gifx3 DblPm it hits really low at the end, and sometimes they'll miss a TR, so you can add /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.

    I used to get /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and DLC to connect for more damage after the bounce from sidecrumples (OM K) in ver.B, but I havent actually managed that in ver.C. I don't know if its still possible or not.

    Hey, I thought Akira was going to be buffed in ver.C..

    Stance requirements? I noticed that the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif will push opponents to different distance for side crumples. I've managed to pull off 2 x /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif against Lau then dbl palm!
