VF3 History Questions

    I'm working on something related to VF3 and i came across an interesting video. It claimed that a qualifier for VF3 Maximum Battle took place in Jakarta, Indonesia on the 2nd of February 1997, less than 2 weeks before the Final Tournament.

    Was this the case for other countries? There were players from Korea, UK, Philippines, Singapore, and Taiwan. I'm wondering how these players got the chance to compete in this tournament.
