According to Sega's AM port team, VF5FS will be getting a patch on August 7. There is no word on when the patch will hit other markets.

The biggest update will be to the player matches. Before there was a mandatory 30 second wait between matches, with the option of pausing the timer to let other players join your lobby. With the patch, after the wait option, you can now press either Square (PS3) or X (360) again to skip the timer completely and immediately start the match.

The team wanted to address other requests that fans had, such as player intro movies that are in the arcade version. Unfortunately due to the amount of voice and graphic data involved with these intros, not to mention that they are not especially important to the online experience, they decided that they would not be adding them to the game.

This also goes for real-time commentary, not to mention they'd have to do English voice tracks for all of the new lines added during 5R and Final Showdown. In addition, they noted that the English commentary wasn't well-received overseas, so they didn't see the point of recording additional lines. Because of these reasons, realistically it wasn't feasible for them to pull it off, and they apologize for not being able to do it.

Lastly, the team stated that while they wanted to say something earlier, they didn't want to release a vague statement like "we're looking into it", etc. They wanted to flatout say "we're taking care of this issue" so that fans knew what was coming. The team responsible for the update actually has to approve all of the comments posted on their Japanese blog before they're visible, so they actually read every single comment made, and they wanted to let the fans know that they are keeping track of everything posted.

Other updates coming with the patch include:

    - If you don't end a game properly with a low amount of matches played, your disconnect rate will be "high".
    - During free training, when you set the CPU to "Guard then turn around + Guard", the CPU's guard will come out 1 frame late. This has been fixed.

    Example:
    1. Select free training
    2. Choose Lion (CPU can be anyone)
    3. Free training menu -> CPU settings -> React settings set to "Guard"
    4. Perform Lion's 6P+G to get behind the opponent
    5. Use Lion's 4P

Before patch: CPU could not guard
    After patch: CPU will guard

Note: This will affect some of the game's text as well.

No mention about them fixing the region issue? Being in Canada, I'm forced to only search for matches in "Worldwide" region. And 80% of the time I'm paired with someone from Asia or Europe with a laggy connection.

Can't they divide the regions in continents like Tekken 6 does? The game isn't as popular here as the Capcom titles so you can't get away with restricting yourself to Canada just get a good connection. So Please Sega change "Same Region" to "Same Continent".

I hope they listen to this. Glad they're fixing the room issues though, that's a relief.

EDIT: Also, PLEASE format the room lobbies such that players can enter the room in the middle of the match instead of only in between matches. No other game suffers from this retarded design so there's no reason for VF to have it either.

No 30 second timer, so no one can join. It's going to seem pretty dead unless there is a way for searchers to see lobbies that have matches in progress.

SEGA has no idea what's going on the market outside of JP and USA.

I'm from Canada and I don't have this problem. I never search worldwide and always find matches.
It could be a PSN thing.

I find the patch somewhat ... underwhelming? Is it an appropriate word?

Dude.. It's like that so it will run the best it can run during matches online. If people was to enter the room as a match is going on, you will have big time lag spikes during matches. (Soul Caliber 5 is a good example). By doing it like this, you do not have nearly as much lag. lag is minimized when you CANNNOT enter during a fight? It makes it better for everybody. Keep it the way it is when it comes to that. But what they should do is, for players that want to enter the room to be put on like a waiting list, so that you can join the room, without actually joining the game in progress.

eh decent patch but was hoping for a fix for the "players met" list not functioning at all on PSN and mandatory compatibility patch for the customization dlc so people who didn't buy them can still see other players custom characters

Rooms are going to be much more enjoyable now. No player's met function is pretty backwards though, that should have been fixed too.

      That's a great patch !

Still , I wish people will ask sega to include score/ beat by notation on player match or/and room mode, and togle show result option in replay mode.

Just that one fix is huge, imo.

It is a PSN thing, on XBL this problem doesnt exist. Also the "same area" filter is smarter on XBL. I live in Finland and "same area" on XBL means the entire Europe.

Ok, rooms might become a bit more popular now. I'll take that.

Though I do wish they'd added a few more bits and pieces to the game. I'd like to see a "history" stat that shows every time you play someone. Like "matches played against" and a win/loss record for that particular opponent.

Also, the leaderboards need a bit of scrubbing. Get rid of some of the cheaters...but oh well. For what it's worth, good job Sega.

The main fix they need is ability to see Frame-by-frame REPLAYS - now no any slow motion or pause in Spectator replay mode!
Its terrible, it was in VF4Evo and is VERY IMPORTANT to analyzing your gameplay.

Err, they're really allowing us to skip the timer in the rooms? Guess that'll make saving replays ten times harder, GGs guys.

No time for anyone to join too :facepalm emoticon:
