    VF5FS Shun Post Round Sobering
One of the keys to the Shun Di match-up is keeping his Drink count as low as possible which prevents him from accessing more powerful moves, special properties on moves and a general damage bonus. During the course of the match you can try to land moves that sober Shun (i.e. reduce his Drink count), either inside or outside of combos, but one of the best opportunities to sober up the drunk old man is after winning a round.

Depending on the moved used to Knock Out (KO) Shun for the round, you're sometimes given an opportunity to land a few extra hits "after the bell". Some KO moves will leave Shun standing momentarily which are ideal because they let you quick land pretty much any kind of standing move at your disposal. Examples of these moves include many characters' middle kick attack commonly performed with a [3][K] input, and also everyone's standing [P].

Other KO moves may have different types of animations, resulting Shun collapsing to the ground in a variety of ways, and limiting the types of moves that can connect. Either way, depending on your KO move you should always be ready to maximise to opportunity to sober Shun!

This guide is organised by character and lists the different types of sober combos you can use depending on the type of KO hit.

Ok i checked yesterday. Post ko the combo 9p doesn t work in any stance... The easiest one is 6_k -> kpp -> 9p 4dp on both stances. If u ko shun with 4k u can use immediatly after is p -> 2kpp -> 9p 4dp also on both stances too. Idk if cm can modify this thread, however actually i cannot coz i m not at home so @Myke @erdraug could u do it for me?

    Nice addition!

By the way didn't we start using these: â–º
    On VFDC? :)
    as opposed to the: >

    Besides nitpicking, good stuff!
we all have to chime in if we ever want to see shun sober up and off the drink :p

I'm fairly sure you can add microdash 4P in that Blaze one after 2P+K for -5dp. I just can't remember if it's stance specific or if there's anything else like only working after P KO.

Also, it's not mentioned anywhere that a simple jab from anyone causes a standing KO.

@MakiLeSushi i don't have access either. But i wanted to ask you: can DS vanessa switch to OS in order to do a 4DP sober combo?

@erdraug i tried today and i didnt succeed i guess it s not possible. Btw i find for os van the easiest one for 4dp on both stances coz the death scythe isn t appropriate for the input a the end of the round. The best one is: 9p-> kpp-> 9p @Myke would you replace the initial 9p combo by this one pls.
For this combo erdraug as example i cannot connect the last 9p i always get 3dp. But i just started my research so who knows...

It's not easy to type â–º because of it's unique character code, and I'm reluctant to add it as a smiley because it seems like overkill to be typing something like [>] for a command separator.

Thanks. Added as a general note in the introduction.

    Thanks. Updated.

@Combolammas the jab gives a standing ko but he stands up less than a ko with 3k. For exemple if i ko shun with a jab, i can do the combo with 9p but i cannot succeed the one with 426p max charge

I can agree with that reasoning, i merely wondered - because of consistency - since the combo-lists seemed to be using thus.
    > is infinetly easier to deal with no doubt :)

(Oh, though i know of a certain... tool that does â–ºspace-filling automatically ;) just for the purpouse of doing stuff like that sobering list.
I.e "Space filling: On", and it would turn any whitespace into that char and copy the full command line to the clipboard automatically..)

This necroposting reminds me: sometimes after the round is over and shun is on the ground, floor scraping moves such as Vane's 9P will connect. Does it still remove a DP (sorry, can't test ATM)?

And, if so, should these types of moves be added to this list? I remember seeing other moves hitting prone opponents post-KO as well, and, after a quick check, some of them have DP-draining as well eg. Lion's 46K+G or 66P, Jeffry's megaton knuckle, Jacky's somersault, Lau's downward slap etc.

As I understand it, the list is just for post knockout combos that take the most drinks. The floor scrapping moves where relevant are already listed in those combos. Remember time is very limited.

Yes. When you're Post-KO and the sobering attack hits Shun, then he'll lose Drink Points (DP) regardless of whether he's standing, grounded, in the air, etc.

As @MarlyJay points out, this wiki page is a collection of optimal or maximum post-KO sobering combos to use against a standing Shun. But you won't always have the luxury of KOing Shun with an attack that leaves him standing so it's definitely worth knowing other ways of sobering post-KO.

For example, as a Kage player I often KO with [2][K] and as a Knock Out hit this produces a foot crumple. Since Shun falls to the ground, I can't do the optimal Sober combo listed above, so instead I do [2][P][+][K][P][+][K][+][G] > (Jumonji) [3][P] > [6][6][P][+][K] to take off 2 DPs against the grounded Shun.

Alternatively, if the knockout doesn't afford me much time, or the distance separation is too great, I do Kage's [6][6][K][+][G] to sober 1 DP.

If people are willing to contribute alternative post-KO Sober combos for non-standing situations, then I'll update this wiki page accordingly.
