Spong is really known for churning the rumor mill, and they're right about 50% of the time. But this news bit is too good to pass up =P.

my understanding of the article is that they simply want people to be able to skip the card process and jack their cell phones directly into vf.net machines... storing the information a different way.

There's no indication that this capability will be used outside of japan. It definitely doesn't mean anything like "vf.net is coming to america!@!"
