As I said in the thread, I'm absolutely not hyping myself until we hear more news. Yes, it is cool to hear Sega utter the words "Virtua Fighter" in any capacity but also this is Sega we're talking about.

At worst it's a tournament with VF5 +/- previous games to gauge interest.
Better we might get a current next version for VF5FS + PC.
At best it's a new project all together or would lead to a new game.

It's positive news anyway... But I agree be careful with expectations.

I won't get my hopes up. But I'd be lying if I said this didn't put a huge smile on my face. Especially from that ending.

I see that speculation are running wild whenever I read vf fans. As of right now confirmed infos are basically none. Seeing that they didn't forget about vf does kinda jump start a bit my hopes but i don't want to believe until I see something for pc or consoles also in the west.

I'm just happy to see in the background behind Akira they are showing Brad vs Aoi and Goh vs Pai, so it's likely to not just be another vf 1 or 2 release. Can anyone tell if those fights are from 5 or are something new? They look like better models to me, but also look like cinematic game intro quality.

This is what I think. The current version is going E-Sports, so either a rerelease on PC and possibly next gen consoles or a major JP / Global??? tournament. If it's VF6 though..... AWESOME!

Knowing how sega has been treating VF recently by shoving the characters into other games as guest characters. I wouldn't put it past them to go left field and include vf chars into something totally non related and call it esports. BUT i really hope its just a port if not a real VF6.

Considering they are saying it's for Japan only at the moment, I am going to say this is Sega adding online gaming to their arcade machines to keep the community alive and make some more money off the existing game.

If it was VF6 they would have dropped that name to build hype.

So I know that this likely means NOTHING but twitter is collecting all the trending posts and it posts a small summary. Well twitters summary says its a reboot despite NOTHING in the announcement stating reboot. I think twitter has got this wrong.

The word 再始動 (さいしどう; sai-shi-dou) is in the original tweet. After looking it up, it's "restart" in computer parlance. So I guess it can also be translated as "reboot."

I'm just a beginner in Japanese so I don't know the most accurate translation for the word within this context. But this, at the very least explains why the word "reboot" is being thrown around in some of the translations.

I'm fine with a reboot if they add Eileen to the roster. Otherwise, oh man am I gonna be pissed.
