leaning more towards (JAP) version of the system. Yes I know multi region is possible, but I rather not risk it. Must have VF5 on day one /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If history is anything to go by the American version of VF5 with be edited/censored

Good luck getting one of the 100.000 JP units at launch :p

Anyway, the PS3 is region free...so just import the game itself if that is all you're worried about.

So if it's not censored, then all is well?

I will wait for an import PS3. Right now the only game I want on PS3 is VF5. So no rush since the game doesn't come out till next year.

The system itself is region free, but it is still up to the developers to make the games multi region.

I think Japanese games will definitely be region locked to Japanese units. Especially due to the censoring going on in Japan nowadays, I doubt Japanese PS3's will be able to play US games for the most part as well. I think we're still ways away from true region free consoles.

Exactly. Spread the word everywhere for Christ's sake. How come people think that all the PS3 games will be region free (because Sony said that the PS3 system is going to support region-free games)??

Actually, it doesn't really matter (unless you live in Europe). Let me explain:

All PS3 games will be on Blu-ray disk (Sony is sorta forcing them). Even if Sega decides against having region free for VF5, U.S. citizens can still import and play VF5 (japan) on their U.S. PS3's because...

    *drum roll please*

...Blu-ray now has fewer regions than DVD (BD has 3 where DVD has 6) and guess what, Japan and the U.S. share the same region!!

    Hello imported Japanese anime!!

I will most definitely get one but I will wait until next year when the demand goes away or shrinks to where I can get one at the store at any given time of the day. I want to VF5 more then any other PS3 game and will wait for it. Of course I will preorder it too so I am guaranteed a copy. If Sega makes it region coded I will have to see if I want the US or JP version but if it isn't region coded it won't matter to me I will get the first copy I can get my hands on.

Again, they can't region code it.

All PS3 games are on blu-ray (mandatory), and even if they do region code it, Japan and the U.S. share the same region, so it becomes irrelevant.

Unless you're European...and, well, sucks to be you.

What does movie region codes have to do with game region codes? They are not the same thing.

True, Europe and Japan are on the same region, region 2 that is for DVDs.
    The games aren't

Ya that was cool!! But now with Blu-Ray, Europe is Region 2 and Japan region 1, which sucks totally. /versus/images/graemlins/tear.gif

What card slot? There is no card slot on the VF5 stick. It might look like there is something in that picture due to the reflections, but if you look at other pictures of the stick and even read the specs, there are no card slot on the VF5 stick.
