2018 promises to be a good year for VF due to the inclusion of FS in Yakuza 6, and the NYC / East Coast scene in particular with the return of Hayato’s arcade looking stronger than ever. Thanks to the efforts of the old-school arcade community at iFixMachine, VF will have a strong arcade representation at this year’s NYG.

Community Effort Orlando saw a great Virtua Fighter tournament take place at Daytona Beach, USA.
The community saw the return of some great players to the tournament scene, and a lot of up and coming new faces.

Calling all Virtua Fighter players in the West Coast or any part of the world. VFDC will be hosting a Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown Side Tournament at EVO 2018 on August 3rd at the BYOC area inside the Mandalay Bay. The tournament bracket will be set for Double Elimination and if we have at least 32 entrants, the top 4 finalist will be taken to the side stage from 3PM to 4PM. The EVO Staff will provide us with monitors from their partner GAEMS and we are also welcomed to bring our own monitors and consoles with any version of Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown.

After a 4 year hiatus, the VFR 16th Beat Tribe Cup took place on Sunday 1st April 2018 in Tokyo, Japan. It saw 510 players in 102 (5-man) teams compete to determine the best of the best! The event was streamed live on Game Newton Ooyama's Twitch channel, and the 11 hour archive has been dissected, translated, timestamped and re-packaged for your consumption below.

Saturday 16th September 2017 saw the running of the 15th annual OzHadou Nationals (OHN) fighting game tournament in Sydney, Australia. Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown was featured as a "medal game" and drew an impressive turnout by comparative standards. With all of Australia's heavy hitters present and accounted for, a healthy contingent of new challengers, a returning vet and a surprise International guest, OHN15 had all the ingredients for one exciting event!
