do it on xbox 360 because that's the system VFers have been using for the last several YEARS. Lets not change the system just because ps3 is available. Lets keep it on the system folks have mostly gotten their sticks for already.

Not all VFers have been on xbox for years. Many of them were on PS3 as well, but were unable to enjoy the online community for obvious reasons. Atleast the few I've met have been on PS3 and don't own sticks (myself included).

Putting it on xbox would force us to invest more money for sticks just to enter and FINALLY be apart of the offline scene.

    My 2 cents...

All our tournaments have been run on xbox360 prior to FS though. What about people who have been going to events prior to this version and got sticks already?

Good point. I'm not familiar with sticks as I've never used one, but I was under the impression that they could be modded in some way to work with both systems.

I really don't know. I hope there is some way to appease both parties, but I don't see how...

You CAN dual mod your sticks (and pads and hitboxes) to work with both systems. It's not easy to do it on your own tho, as it requires working with circuitry, and often requires that you learn how to solder wires. The most common way to get your stick or pad dual modded is by getting in contact with a modder. There's always a modder booth in Final Round, and this year shouldn't be any different. (that's how I got my 360 stick dual modded last year. I believe my TE stick has a ChimpSMD) It usually is charged around $80 to do (which is not bad, considering the mod chip itself usually costs around $50ish with shipping). If you decide to go this route, you should come as early as possible, as it usually takes an hour or a few hours for them to mod your controller, and queue lines with dozens of people form quick. Also, note, that ANY dual mod will have lag, but with a dual mod chip, the amount of lag is negligible(for most chips). And coming from playing Marvel as well, its EVEN MORE negligible for VF players. Dual mod chips are the most reliable of all options.

That being said, that doesn't leave you with a whole lot of time to get your controller ready for the tournament (the VF tournament will be on the first day of FR16, friday). The next option for you is to find a modder in your area. You can arrange with them to get it done on your time, and the price is usually around the same (though likely with added shipping costs). Not all modders are of the same quality, so see if you can talk or get some recommendations to a modder first. If you know you only feel comfortable using your stick, and ABSOLUTELY want to make sure your controller is dual modded in time for Final Round, this is your best option. I'm not a big resource for modder directories, but the first place I'd look is the Tech Talk forum within shoryuken.com: http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.ph...-builder-in-your-area-check-this-post.114465/

(yo, ToyDingo: osiriskidd, aka Ky Phung would be a very good local modder in ATL -- https://www.facebook.com/osiriskidd
There's also a modder in Statesboro as well, from what I know, but I don't have his info unfortunately)

Your third and easiest option (or should I say 'easiest' option) is to by a dual modded stick or buy an adapter. If you happen to play stick, you should be good, as the eightArc Fusion line of sticks (eightArc is a California offshoot of Quanba) are really good: http://eightarc.com/fusion-ivory . Plus they are almost the same price as a TE Stick now.
As for pad-players, well.....good luck. There aren't any professionally produced dual-mod pads that I know. Your best bet is to buy a converter, and two that I know are the hyper-expensive Cronus and Cronus Extreme converters ( http://cronusdevice.com/ ) and the Xim3 ( http://xim3.com/ ). NOTE: ALL CONVERTERS LAG SIGNIFICANTLY MORE THAN CHIP DUAL MODS. The question is not 'if they lag' but 'how much offline lag you are willing to tolerate'. I've heard things like 8-10ms lag. I dunno, do the research yourself.
And if you own a hitbox........well, I mean c'mon, you are rocking a HITBOX. It's totally a mod in itself, so more than likely you've had it built for you, so hit that person up. If that's not possible, they have dual mod controllers made by the hitbox originators themselves, hitbox Arcade. ( http://www.hitboxarcade.com/products/hit-box-multi-console ) But then again, 225 bucks?! OUCH that's almost Viewlix Premium level pricing

If all the other tournaments at FRXVI are PS3 keep it on PS3.You know for sure that everyone attending for another game will be PS3 ready.

I really don't know if there is a difference between ports like frame delay.

I know pre-FS VF'ers all have X360 controllers but this is a new game and there are potentially more PS3 players than X360.

I thnk the only difference between ports is some of the online stuff. Offline they play the same. Last year they put 360 and PS3 side-to-side to prove this.

Besides, Sega isn't Capcom, they know how to port on the PS3 without adding PS3 input lag.

The input lag that is being referenced is when you're using an adapter to play on both systems. That has nothing to do with sega or capcom's programming.

Referring to Capcom's additional frame of input lag on SF4/Marvel/SFxTK. Only other game to do this is DOA.

IIRC, the PS3 version of SF4 does not lag an extra frame, but rather the 360 port is a frame early. The PS3 version is the same speed as the arcade.

Thanks for all of the good feedback. I know the North American VF cup event will be on PS3 also, so people might want to train on ps3 since the biggest event in the usa will be on ps3 also. FR16 will be ps3 only for the main events. I was hoping the VF community would supply the set up's needed to run atleast 6 set up's(ps3+lagless monitors) 94 days until FR16! GET HYPED!

Alright, thank you everybody for the inputs, I've read all of them multiple times.

I've decided to make it PS3.

I'm going to supply 3 setups on my own (PS3 + Asus monitors). If anyone is available to bring a setup themselves to help out to make it six setups, I would really appreciate that too.

I'm saving a little extra money every paycheck for Final Round and any money I don't spend on the trip itself will be spent on money matches. VF5:FS (and my competitive career) will be ~10 months old at the end of March and I want to see how much I've grown.

Just letting you know, according to the FR16 rules, money matches are NOT allowed on the ballroom floor itself (its for a variety of reasons, from what I hear). You might wanna ask Shin Blanka to know for sure, but I think that's the rule from what I've heard: http://www.finalround.org/rules.cfm

HOWEVER, you can do whatever you want outside of it, including your hotel room, so money matches can take place there. As a matter of fact, I might wanna take you up on a money match challenge!

Maybe I missed it, but what time does VF start on Friday?

I need to know. Not sure if I should ask work for Friday off. Or if I can get there in time after work Friday.

    You know yet Blackstar?

I don't have a time schedule for all the other events, and I probably wont get one before FR. But Friday is team tournament day, so there probably won't be much else going on.

As for the VF tournament, I'm 90% sure I'm gonna start it in the early afternoon (2-,3-ish), and signups will likely start at 1pm. Of course it's all subject to change, but thats my plan
