No, not really any contradictions and I don't really see why this has been dragged on as long as poss.

If I'd been coming with Will it would have been a straight £10 I'd have been spending on food. I never once said I'd be bringing extra if Will was taking me at all, you've read between the lines wrongly there. Talking about bringing a little extra cash has to do with making travel arrangements yourself...eg if you miss a train or the trains are cancelled or need to get someplace else before you can get home or plans change and you need to stay over somewhere/ decide to go out etc etc...

Will bringing me guaranteed me a ride to and from yours so I had no need to worry about extra cash (which I wouldn't have done, it would have been the £10 on food, period).

Will bringing me = No need to worry about transport cash, so I can spend a little of cash on food for EVERYONE.

Oh and what on earth is your point about "regulars" not coming? I don't get it. I don't play the regulars at home here at all, you've just made that up. What's the point of discussing something if you're just going to make things up about what happens in Manchester when you're not here??? The times I do play them is when they come to meets, bar Ade who I used to see/play about once every 6 weeks or so.

I've played Mye one sunday afternoon at the start of term and Ade the same. Not seen Das since May, not seen Steev since May, not seen Ramsey since Feb sometime, not seen Ade for a few weeks and when I saw him it was in town for an hour or so. Not seen Will since March (I think) and saw Dan on the 25th sept. You don't seem to realise I only play the regulars at meets. That's one of the biggest reasons you and Andy are better at the game than others...you have each other to play all the time wheras as I have very little human comp here at all. Same with Ade and the others. When Ade used to call, it'd be mainly a lads night in, with drink, tv and various games, we didn't just sit and play VF to death, an hour or so, maybe 2 at the max but nothing like regular hardcore sessions to drastically improve. That's what the arcades are for, go ask anyone who plays regularly in an arcade. I'm sat playing Quest as I have no real human players to play.

What about the very first time we tried to organise something and you all pulled out bar me and Ade (and ramsey cos he lived round the corner)? At the last minute some of you too. Should I have kicked up so much fuss about nothing there?

btw Ade said I had a lot on my plate, not me, so don't try and argue with someone elses quote, that's his opinon of what's going down. It happens to be a good evaluation of things but there's no real need at all to dredge up all the little details of my private life on VFDC.

Shaun it's a video game. Are you saying the only valid excuse for not coming to a meet and having "a lot on your plate" is someone dying or equally terrible? Please get a reality check.

I deal with the shit life hands out, don't try and make out that I don't. Your still only 17 man, you've got a lot still to learn.

    Andy:

Believe it or not, I don't enjoy breaking my word. When I say something to someone 99.9% of the time I genuinely mean it and I don't like going back on myself. If I say I'll be bringing food then I mean it, regardless of what other things are taking place. My plan was always to bring food and yeah I knwo you would have had some but let's face it, you can never have enough food at a VF meet can you? Especially snack food as it's often gone in a flash and I don't know about you guys but I'm normally starving by the end of one of our meets.

When Will txtd me to say he couldn't make it, then Ade had said he was going to be going out for his mates bday and not going, I knew I was letting you guys down by being a no show and going back on my word, in fact I even told Ade I thought there'd be a back lash from not coming but I can't believe it's been made into such a big deal.

Why not have a go at the scots who didn't come down on the 25th? First a few were coming, then 1 or 2, then back to a few and then they all dropped out. In most cases they simply said "can't make it". Why not go and attack them for not giving valid enough excuses? What about others who didn't show for the 25th? (I know it was a wash out btw but it's a good example) Loads said they would come and then turned around and said, errm nah, not coming now.

Should I have rounded them all up in a witch hunt and persecuted them until they gave me a reason for not coming that I myself thought was valid enough?

Oh and yeah, 1 hour on the train, 40 mins at least to walk into town from mine (unless you wanna get ripped off by a taxi or stagecoach bloody buses) so it's more like 2 hours plodding around one way and 2 hours back when I was feeling up to it in the first place.

Just for the record, my dad lent me £300 this morning...essentially meaning I now have a budget of around £30 a week for the next 5 weeks until I go back home.

I'm going to try and maybe hold a meet before christmas sometime if anyone can still be bothered playing us truly shit manc-scouse lot. Apparently Jennys has VF4 in so, I know it's an old game, but one possibility is playing there for a bit and then going back to mine to play evo.

Oh and before you try and say I can't be arsed any more, don't forget everything I've organised in the past and the fact I spent the summer playing quest so players had files that looked the way they wanted and it's hardly been used at all. I wouldn't let all that time spent on making things look pretty (plus learning the game more) go to waste by not attending any more meets would I now?

So why couldn't you use this £10 to come to Leeds? was the extra £2 too much?

No one was making you bring any food with you, you volunteered to do this. If you would have said that you no longer could afford this as you had to buy a ticket, there would be no problem.

Are you trying to tell me that you have never played Ade, Steev or Das even once when it wasn't an official meeting. Are you trying to say that Ade has never come round to your house at a weekend to have some games? Maybe you haven't seen them in a while, but if you count up the amount of times that you guys have played, it will be quite a high figure, so choosing not to come just because Ade and Will backed out is a lame excuse.

I don't remember this, as far as I can remember, the first meeting I was invited to and said that I would make it to, I came, but if you can find a quote from ME with my reasons, I'm pretty sure that that they stand valid.

I am saying that using 'I have a lot on my plate' as an excuse it bullshit unless something unexpectedly terrible turns up. Having 'a lot on your plate' does not include the day to day bullshit hassles that will always be there.

I never said that you don't deal with shit, however, if your arguement for not coming is money troubles and daily problems, then you obviously are not dealing with things, as you are letting trivial things get on top of you.
As for being 17, big deal. not the point.

hmmmm, and you are trying to patronise me by having a lot to learn, yet you are still living on hand outs from your parents with whom you still live with.
£30 is quite alot of money. Me and Andy live off of £20 to share, as this is all of the money I get a week, we have no choice but to deal.

    Well done.

    *clap clap*

Living off handouts? wtf are you on? You know nothing. Living off a reduced student loan, whilst already in debt (besides 2 ODs I recived a comical letter recently informing me when I need to start paying back my £15,000 + student loans) is what I'm talking about, fuck all to do with living off handouts you prick (it's getting paid back to him when I get my loan instalment in January...do you know the difference between lend and give? Doesn't sound like it). Once again you're reading between the lines wrongly.

Living with my parents, yep, that's where I am now isn't it? Yeah, I live with my parents all year round don't I? Yeah, nice one Shaun. £30 a week is fucking nothing, I live off £50 or so normally during the year. I couldn't care less what you can live off, if you hadn't noticed I'm bigger than you and could eat most people out of house and home in a week.

    [ QUOTE ]
Are you trying to say that Ade has never come round to your house at a weekend to have some games?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Reading my fucking post for once.

As for Steev and Ramsey, we never held "VF meets" at all. I'd play about 5 mins with Steev and then cane pro evo all the time. Das only came round to mine once to play VF when it wasn't at a meet.

As far as bullshit hassles go, no, it's not just about the "day to day" hassles, it's about a load of fucking things you don't know about yeah? Like my girlfriend stressing over an abortion she had, yeah? About her ex wanting to try and get back with her and marry her, yeah? About her hating her job and being stuck in the same drab existance of working with people she hates, yeah? About juggling with money and uni work, yeah? About real life shit that has fuck all to do with arguing pointlessly over the internet about why I didn't feel like playing a video game one day, that decided to hit the fan during the week before you were holding the meet.

Coming up with Will might have been an escape from it all...but like I said when I heard the others weren't going / couldn't be reached (eg Das) I really couldn't face it.

Let's be honest, I've been doing it here, but I really don't need to answer to anybody about my actions.

    End of.

This is all getting a bit silly.

This applies to all of you.

Now. We all know people's lives are difficult. Ev2, you have every right to be annoyed that people dropped out, but equally well Chris' reasons are actually understandable. Yes, you have been to lots of Manc meets. Yes he hasn't been to Leeds - yet. But stuff happens. It's a game. There will be other opportunities for meets. Move on. Have a pint, courtesy of this lovely lady :

Mmmmm, beer. Probably not safe for work, or Uni!

Job in Leeds disappeared btw, so I'm not coming up there, you filthy scamps.

I can't really be bothered carrying this on any further. The only reason it's gone on so long is that you keep changing your reasons or contradicting yourself or whatever. I still think that it's only fair on the person who's organising something that if you say you're definitely going to come then you should try your best to actually do that. Now you probably think that you did, so whatever I'm not going to argue (although I still think the reasons you've given are quite weak). If that stuff about your girlfriend was really what the problem was then you could have just said you had "personal problems" or something instead of making up money problems or whatever. Just be straight with people and crap like this wouldn't happen.

The reason I didn't "have a go" at the edinburgh guys that didn't come is because (as far as I know) only Li and Graeme ever said they were definitely coming.

Anyway, there's no point dragging this out anymore. If you can host something before xmas then I'll be up for it.

As of yesterday I'm certainly up for hosting again so I'll post details soon. I know this is the end of it all but the money thing did play a factor in deciding not to come and I really didn't want to bring up that stuff about my girlfriend (I spent the actual day with her on the saturday) I just lost it in the heat of the moment yesterday and blerted it out. Her own family don't even know about it so if any of you meet her, I'd liked to think no one would dare mention it.

Shaun if you're still coming down on the 24th, let me know and me, you and Ade can meet up and go back to mine for some VF.

Yeah that would be fine Andy.

I now have 3 chairs in my room so there's plenty of space for people to sit in.

Oh, more importantly, I texted Will last night as I'm trying to arrange a meet for the 11th Dec. He can make it and bring his set up as usual but I'll put details on the main thread.

I am not sure about the date of my Psychology thing yet, but I will let people know as and when I do. as for the 11th, I might be able to make it, but with Christmas approaching, money is a little tight., as Andy's girlfriend has bought me a damn present, meaing I have to get her one too. Then there is my two next door neighbours with whom I am friends with, so I have to get them something, then I have to save the money to get a return ticket to Blackburn as I am spending Christmas with my Nan who lives there. Then I have to get her a present, plus my Uncle and all of his family is coming, so they need presents. I also have to buy food for me and Andy between all of this, and all I get is £30 a week. Dammit money sucks!
Anyway, I will let you know about things as soon as I can, but if you have to put me on a yes or no list, put me as no for the 11th.

Ok no worries about the 11th.

Ade even if Shaun/Andy don't get here on the 24th (ie next wed!) do you still wanna come around for a session ( /versus/images/graemlins/blush.gif ohh matron!). I'm free from 1.
