I got Kingdom Hearts too. I liked it. It wasn't anything like the previous Disney games since it hooked up with Square. I liked the Disney parts to tell you the truth.

There are many things to love about Skies of Arcadia. The fact that cities are in the sky give the game a "whoa" and "duuude" feeling. It's very nice. Also you get the feeling of discovering new places. Imagine people traveling to strange, exotic places, without all the wars and forced religion changing. It's wonderful and... heartwarming, to say the least. Of course you won't always be welcome with open arms at first, but hey, it's an RPG. It mimics our world in a very cute, slightly exaggerated way.

Characters: There are plenty of characters along the lines of FF6 perhaps, though you can only control 6 throughout the entire game, and you are limited to 4 in your current party. The rest (more then 10 at least) are in your "crew," which modify your ship's abilities and are helpful when you call them out in battle.

I thought the character relationships were great. The game does a great job telling the story with different angles, facial expressions, and at times, voices. I like it more than the stuff in FF10 because it does what it can't; it's very anime-ish, and very lighthearted and carefree.

I can't really complain about the battles, either. You are actually encouraged to use your special abilities! Imagine using FF7's Limit Breaks almost whenever you want. Your Special Attacks require a certain number of "AP", shared by the team. Each turn you get some AP, and you can raise it even further by making it your action (in addition to attack and guard). In fact boss battles are won by managing your special abilities. And THANKFULLY you can skip them, unlike FF's summon spells. Ugh.

Yessir, I would be perfectly happy if Skies of Arcadia was the last RPG I ever played.

I''ve been playing FF since SNES days. FF4,6 & 7 were and still my favourites in the series. With the upgrading of the home console system from the old 8-bit system to the recent 128 bits power house, it's no surprise that the CGs and in-game effects are getting more and more spectacular and breathtaking, especially so with the more recent FF titles. IMO, CGs and cool graphics is one thing but in a rpg game, gameplay, storyline and music are all equally if not, more important. The graphics in FF6 (war of the magi) maybe be old and outdated, but I believe it is still the best title in the whole FF series. One point I agree with CreeD, I have never regretted buying all of the FF tiles. Final Fantasy ROCKS!

I liked FF8 I guess, but not nearly as much as other FF's. It was way too easy to get your stats up with the draw magic coupled with the junction system. I pretty much maxed out everyone in my party near the end of the game. I even had 100 Drains junctioned to Hit so I would get back 9999 hp each time I attacked. Very useful against those damn marlboros. /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

Anyone here ever play Legend of Legaia 1 and/or 2?

yes, I remembered the Legend of Legaia. I have played the game a few years back and IMO it is a highly playable and challenging RPG.
Though graphic-wise it's pretty dodgy, the battle system is rather innovative. You can select from four types of attacks by pressing left, right, up, or down with your directional pad and your character will either attack with his/her weapon, a punch, a high kick or a low kick, something like that. It's pretty cool to watch especially with those super combos. Haven't played LOL2 yet, still undecided whether to get a xbox or PS2. PS2 has got FFX and VF4 but xbox has much better specs and DOA3! /versus/images/icons/confused.gif

I have always like that site although I've not visited it for quite a while now. The black mage always reminds me of Vivi in FF9. cute.

IMO Legend of Legaia 2 is a better game than the first. It has new characters, storyline, various types of arts with weapons, bare hands/feet, and even elements. There are no more Seru but Origins. Only Mystics can have Origins. The game explains it like a soul within your soul, somewhat of an elemental manifestation and makes a mystic what he/she is. Normal, Super, and Hyper arts remain. Gone are the Miracle arts but are replaced with Variable and Mystic arts. Variable arts combine two people in one single powerful attack string. Mystic arts are a much more damaging art that combines the skills of you and your Origin. Some hyper arts can be leveled up with exp. points to unlock a new, more damaging hyper art. The damage you can do with these arts is crazy if you have the right equipment. I heard that someone did 1 million hp damage from only one character. Anyway, you should try this game out. You'll love it if you liked the first LoL.
