    Ahhh a closure =)

Rich: Time and again I've heard from you and Creed saying that mIRC is separate from VFDC, it's a social gathering not a VF gathering. So "REALLY", you can socially shove it up your ass. I've got VF to work on and your fucking up my Feng Shui.

Piccolo: You have yourself a nice day.

Everyone Else: Move and think faster and you'll win NO BULLSHIT!! (piccolo, did you hear that??)

    later guys.

Couldn't we all just get along? And if we can't, fu*k it than let the VF SAGA continue that's what I say. Oh, can I be the REF for the SAL VS BLONDE ONE Title fight?

If I move back to the states, I think I'll have to give up on video games.

I hate to say it, but I now know the full implications of "gaijin" and other slang terms, and why racial discrimination is so preevelent (not to mention legal) in my country of residence. Forgive my lack of knowledge, but does everyone in the gaming community (or fighting game community) in the west behave like this?

You're damn right, Paul... I know there are people and VF groups in Japan that aren't overly fond of each other but I have NEVER seen them get violent over it to this degree. I've been warned against using certain techniques that piss people off by my teammates, though... like the repeated [3][K] on a fallen opponent.

Capcom "community" is even worse, sadly.

I've never known anyone to really do anything offensive to another player besides maybe a few dirty looks. The main place I play (Shibuya Gigo) consists of at least 3 relatively large teams (Kiba Ichizoku, Team Sarah, and Yoga Smokers). We play against each other, and some times with each other in 3on3 & 5on5 tournaments. There's an announcer most of the time, and to razz it up, I usually throw in my own little narration, or just mock the cheesy narrator in the game, but it's all in good fun. Everynow & again, you'll here a Japanese voice joining in the fun saying, "Ekuserento!"

Any voyage to Tokyo planned in the near future?

No offense, but Japan and America are two diffrent worlds, with two diffrent cultures. One is a 1000 year old country who has gone through countless wars and history and diffrent types of government, to create a society where owner is more important than life. The other is a new nation, only 300 some odd years old, with only one government ever, and its people raised on guns, and violence and rebellion, so if the japanese do it one way, and americans do it another. there's a reason. Now, if youve got a problem with the american way hey thats cool, but dont bring racism into something that can happen anywhere on earth. PEOPLE BITCHING ABOUT EACH OTHER!!!!

Jedi has a point. Besides, wasn't this thread meant to be an apology? Gaijin, if you moved back to the states, I doubt you will give up gaming. It's not like everyone does this and it's only been seen online here in the online forum community.

"dont bring racism into something that can happen anywhere on earth"

I have to agree with this.

And on the topic of violence? No one is immune to it; in Japan there once an inccedent where a person was killed over a game - so it can happen anywhere.

I think it's easy to get all violent cool online, but a different story in real life. Course there's a community of people who all know each other here, and get together, so if one cat says he's going to paste a guy, he probably will unless the other guy is just as tough. Two tough guys who might potentially kill each other will deter violence between them, unless the hate is too strong and somebody HAS to throw down. I don't know that two or four guys who obviously hate this one guy Blonde One is a reflection on every gaming community in America. Though I can tell you, the whole Japanese community sounds one hell of a lot more interesting and fun than guys calling each other "poopdick". LOL there though.

These peeps are so envious of you Chris. It's obvious that they want to gather at homes with their friends instead of at the computer in some online chat room. It just eats them alive. No matter what they say or do, you're still #1 in the nation at VF4. Don't forget it. Those countless days of practicing really paid off huh? You gained the respect of the top players who participated. These other fools only want to bring you down with their tribal banter, and oooh online power. That won't happen. You make me proud to be associated with you. There's always drama in the states.

Didn't gaijin once say he wanted to knock the crap out of someone for switching cards once? /versus/images/icons/wink.gif

Not to add fuel to the flame, but more to support the original point: it can happen to anyone anywhere. Even the ARGUMENTS on VFDC have more class than a lot of the the everyday posts on other boards, for which I'm grateful.

Yeah, I said that -- but did I act on it? Feeling something and controlling your feelings (even online I'm afraid to say) are two totally different things.

Also - someone somewhere on this board ages ago mentioned that fights in arcades are not uncommon. I really don't remember who it is, and didn't take it as fact, but it seemed to be a common feel, at least in that thread.

I don't agree with racism to be honest, but if you read some of my other posts on the subject matter, I do my best to be a good 'guest' and get pissed when others don't as they make me look bad. So while I think it's bullshit, it's still a rule I have to play by. Sorry if I offended.

And as for this thread being an apology -- yes, it was supposed to, but we see how long that lasted.

This is pathetic. What started out as a kind gesture by Jedi-Fei has rapidly been reduced to the most immature, idiotic exchange of ideas I have ever witnessed. This sort of thing makes me embarrassed to be a member of the U.S. gaming community.

Seriously, you guys need to chill and check this out: http://www.farts.com

Well, re: did you act on any of it... as far as we know, the fla crew and sal have not ever come to blows yet either, so far it's just venting. I don't know anyone personally (or even know second hand about someone) who has fought irl over video games or in an arcade. I know people who have fought over pool, but the difference between pool and video games is a lot of money and a lot of history, so it's no surprised.

Disclaimer: Not that I believe nothing WOULD happen if say, Piccolo and Blonde One met in real life. I'm not saying it's IMPOSSIBLE or anything.

Not sure how racism got stuck into this, but if anyone wants to make a broad sweeping statement like "japanese arcade-goers are more considerate in real life situations" I'll buy that. I'd also buy that they're cooler online too: The korean VF channel on IRC has as many people as ours, probably more (they had as many people in the early morning as we had during primetime).
Every single person had ops (control of the channel) and nobody was banned. In the american equivalent only half the people have ops and other people are banned all the time. It's easy to read 10 different things into that description of the situation, so before anyone says something nasty, I'm just relaying the facts.

Overall I agree though that I wish american gamers, specifically VF players who frequent arcades, were more like their japanese counterparts. I doubt the japanese have ever wished their buddies behaved more like americans =/
