I guess I will. It will be next sun at 8pm. If that doesn't work for anyone let me know. I think a 5$ entry fee sounds OK but, it really makes no difference to me. What does everyone else say?

    Double Elimination Tournament.

Finals will be best 3of5 with the winner of the loser's bracket having to win twice.

As far as having a local tournament, that's cool. I don't expect to win or even place well enough to be considered good, but I'll play. I will be kind of difficult for me as I have a weird work and school schedule. Somebody just post when it's gonna happen and I'll do my best to be there.

Also, let's have a round of applause for our friend Enkindu who is currently whoopin' some Atlanta butt !!!

Now, I know I do not have a perfect game and would like some input on things you folks think I should work on. Whether, it be learning another character, learning not to fall for the same combo, or anything else you can think of. I am open for advice from you all, as you are the people I play against and may notice something about my game that I do not. Any advice is appreciated. Don't worry about hurting feelings as I have no ego to hurt.

Hope to hear from you soon.

ps. I will prolly be up there monday night if anyone wants some practice.

I'm on my break so i'll take this opportunity to try and criticize one of the nicest gameplayers I've met.

    1) Try not to be so nice, you're my boy John but in order to win you need to play like an asshole ;) Sometimes I think your kindness translates into your gameplay.

    2) Don't be afraid, to not attack. You got reamed playing me because you were trying to beat me to the punch to much.

    3) Elbow, you don't do the basic elbow much either. If it staggers DE, or go in for throw.

    3. Low punch defensively, keep in mind that most strings can
be interuppted by a low punch by the it's 3rd part or even 2nd.

    4. Cut out the low kicks, save them for low life tension situations once in a while.

    5. Concentrate, see what's working for your opponent against you and try and take that away. And to be honest if it seems like a tension situation and your opponent is standing. Start jabbing works all the time.

that advice kind of sucked but i tried lol

Unc- I appreciate your suggestions and will take them into consideration.
Your definately right about the basic elbow. For some unknown reason I have not been using like I should. I think I had forgotten how important it is (before VF4, haven't played VF in at least 2 years).
Also, sometimes try to get an interupt LP during on oncoming attack, but for some reason usually get nailed. Will work on better timing, etc.
I will also try to not allow my general personality display itself in my game. Perhaps I do not play aggresive enough.

Thanks again for your input, @sshole!! (just kidding, haha)

Break time again. Try and develop a pressure game that will keep your opponents options to a minimum. Say if you commit a move like a shrm after say d/f+p+k (think that's the low punch deal) and I block what will you do besides try and low punch or back up somehow? Enter d/f+P+G and d/b+p+k to take care of most of the better throw options people have or get a reversal. Continue applying pressre with low punches back dashes and double palms, b,f+p, and sides steps, and don't dragon lance out of the blue. I see you start trying this a lot;) I think you just want to see if you can do it more than applying it to your game huhuhu.

went to rockies tonight to play absolutely NO ONE. there were around 10 people huddled around the tekken machines tho.......i think they either upped the difficulty on the vf4 machine on the left, or i had too much of a buzz, because pai was being a TOTAL bitch. i got to jeffery once i think out of an hour of gameplay. thats sad.

Yuck well pai can be a bitch there's a trick to it though, if she's being a complete wanker just start elbowing/sweeping and she'll go back to be stupid. I was gonna show but tonight was work night.

i must say i've never seen her this way. she literally kicked the living shit out of me. normally i get to at least lau or vanessa everytime easily, but dayum. oh yea, the one guy i played against was literally [bold]pounding[/bold] on the left hand side of the machine on the left. he was definitely mashing, as the whole board that the buttons are attached to was moving up and down as he hit it. hopefully there wasnt any damage to the machine. /versus/images/icons/mad.gif

I don't think we're ready for this tourny guys. There's only 7 of us IF we all show up. In a few weeks maybe Mikey will be ready to join in...or THE MYTH might start playing....I dunno...we could go with 7 but, I'm just not seeing it happen....

    Anybody got an opinion?

i agree sort of, like I said before I'm not in any rush and we're still pretty erratic about showing up to these things.

Hey guys I was sittin here looking at all our posts and seeing as how we all have a very wide game base. Alot of us play more than just VF4, and seeing as how it's not even out yet why don't we all organize a Central Fl. Weekly gathering. I mean seriously. I watched B5 over at IMF's house the other day and I think We could have a weekly or Bi-weekly get together for all games. Streetfighter, Tekken, and VF. I mean everyone that I know that goes to rockies plays fighting games. Why don't we just have a big get together where a lot of SF fans and Tekken Fans, and VF fans can meet and share info on a weekly basis. All it's going to take is 1) a place, and 2) People. I would love to meet everyone in the area that is serious enough about fighting games to show up to an event like this. Feedback please. We Could Put Florida on the Map for alot more than just VF.

P.S.- This post is only for "Streetfighter 2D" not MVC2 or CVS1or2. Just to keep the sluts at a minimum. =)

Blonde-One, i'm with you, Unc, and IMF on the sentiment about better organization of our gatherings. I, myself, do not play Tekken, or any other game. Only VF4, but I will still try to meet for any VF4 competition or meeting. I would try to learn some of the other popular games, but I am afraid I am eons behind. But, who knows, maybe I will.

Re: There are no Florida VFers here.

There are very few people that are interested in just Street Fighter that I know of in the central florida area. I mean they have Hyper Fighter at Rockys but noone plays it for any length of time when the "interested" people are there. I think we played it off and on for about a week. Also in all honesty when you talk about 3D fighting games "here" you're already playing the people worth anything.

Florida in general is a "current" gaming state, in other words, if you leave out mvc2 and cvs2 you are leaving out a large amount of people. As far as I'm concerned, the only games I'd really like to play at home would be anything Samurai Showdown, Soul Calibur, Garou:Mark of the Wolves, Last Blade, and VF4...maybe a little ol school SF, but I hate all the alphas...though I can be down for 3S. Now if anyone has a link cable and down for some VOOT, aka Virtual On Oratario Tangram I'm as good as there /versus/images/icons/wink.gif

Well I think a good stage for you to meet these other gamers would be to call a "console gathering" before my next vid game tourney "OD4" but be warned...most are "sluts", who have some other interests but not many..

    VOOT is the junk!!

So OD is coming back? That's cool. Is there still gonna be a VF4 tourny at the SFC in April? I know you have a thread on VP for it but, shouldn't there be one here too?

Didn't you mention something about Miami comp a ways back? What's up? They still playing?

Re: There are no Florida VFers here.

Just talked to the Miami honcho today, VF totally died out in Miami. He's not even sure if the machine is still there. That's how much attention it gets :/ Apparently when I came down people said cool! Didn't know how to do shit and it just fell thru.

As far as the deal in Miami, it's one of those, if there's enuff people they will come things. But from the looks of it, the only people competeing would be the people from Rockys which really, really sux. Sure someone could win entry + 100 bucks but that's a long drive :/ And that's only 8 people show at least..otherwise no tourney. What's worse VF people don't travel like other gamers do...but then again with almost no chance to win back your travel expenses you can't blame them.

But yeah if OD happens which it will, but chances are without the support of Rockys Replay there will definately be a VF tourney. Hel I'll make an HF tourney on that one machine if you all would play in it.

VF4 died in Miami? Wow, thats sad. Unc I'm all about MOTW and VOOT. It's good to hear somebody still plays VOOT, I've got some Voot Replays DLed, it's good stuff =). Anyways watching B5 has inspired me to get back to my SF roots. As of right now VF4 is still my main focus, I'm just eagerly waiting for the release of the damn thing. Tired of spending too much hard earned money on something I'll be getting in a few weeks/a month or so. I'm still going to play, just not as much. Ya'll better look out once it hits home though =). The way I feel about any sort of tournament is like this. Until I'm playing at home for a # of weeks, I don't want anything official. It just seems like opening your Christmas presents before Christmas.
