Good painting and drawing comes from the shoulder, especially on a larger scale.

Yea, that guy is not a game addict, he is an MMORPG addict. I consider MMORPG addiction to be in a different category, as I do not consider MMORPGs to be games. More like a carrot on a stick scam, or something like that. Still, good for him for kicking the habit. I've lost many friends I used to game with to that insatiable beast.

    Main Entry: dex·ter·i·ty
    Pronunciation: \dek-ˈster-ə-tē, -ˈste-rə-\
    Function: noun
    Inflected Form(s): plural dex·ter·i·ties
Etymology: Middle French or Latin; Middle French dexterité, from Latin dexteritat-, dexteritas, from dexter
    Date: 1518
1 : mental skill or quickness : adroitness
2 : readiness and grace in physical activity; especially : ]skill and ease in using the hands <manual dexterity>

Maybe you are right about painter's not needing to be particularly dexterous then. Although it's pretty much essential to be a good musician (which again, for most people is a hobby).

Funniest thing is, MMORPGs have kind of infected everything. I never saw the outcry for items, outfits win poses, and other personalization etc until those came out.

Yah boy! And would you know I've NEVER had a beer at Rockys! I didn't drink back then, but shit I made so many contacts. Most of them weren't even fighting game players. They played that Golf game. It was a good time for a while man. No regrets. Granted I paid Rockys quality money for all the time I spent there but not as much as the people I used to beat constantly!

When I started losing eventually. I stopped playing. Losing is too expensive in an arcade.

I feel like we have this discussion every once in a while and it's healthy to have. The fact that we talk about it probably does mean we play a lot of games and we might question whether or not it's too much or if it's is healthy, but in the end, it's a choice of what you want to do with your time.

I've spent 14+ days (1 day=24 hrs) of my life playing MW2 but I don't really regret any of it to be perfectly honest. You're not wasting your life away because you aren't downing ten shots and ten beers at the bar on Friday night, that's BS... That's a waste of your life. I've done that and it's not that fulfilling. Just like any high, it's temporary and you have to come back to reality and face your problems, albeit now with a hangover or worse...

Doing something you love is what life is all about no? You could constantly push yourself to learn and succeed in every free moment, but I feel like you'd be missing a lot by doing that too. For those that put hours into the dojo, or play and practice all the time, I commend you for your pursuit of perfection regardless of what it's in.

I'm sure I have at least somewhat of an addiction to video games, or I just really, really like them a lot... I'm not 100% sure. When I was 5 years old I freaking LOVED video games so I'm not surprised that I still love them 24 years later, not mention how far they've come since then.

Even when I'm not physically playing games, I'm still on gaming sites like this or reading magazines about it, but I still think it's just a hobby. I think I having a hobby is very healthy as long as it doesn't rule your life. For me, games are my favorite hobby.

    Moral of the story:

Games don't fuck up your life.

    World of Warcraft does.

I think its easy to test. Think whether you could walk away from games couple weeks. Its a test to see whether the games control you or the other way around.

This is good advice. Every so often, I will go a few weeks without touching a game. It is not that I am forcing myself away from the game, but simply that I do not have a strong desire to play.

Only problem I'm having in transitioning between games that I have not played in a while like Street Fighter. Also I haven't played MW2 in months, a game that was very simple to play suddenly became a little difficult.

Gaming doesn't hurt my life at all. I play hours and hours of games everyday. I still have a good social life because of school and boxing,so the only time I play games is at night after school. Sure its not the most active thing to do with your time from most people's perspective (however I disagree because that game gets my heart pumping sometimes lol), but it is great entertainment and also makes good memories (mostly).

What does healthy even mean though? Do whatever you want, no one can control your values. If you're dying, i dunno... if that's REALLY the way you wanna go out, do you. I could tell you that you might be missing out on a lot life has to offer, but if you're sustainable and happy, I can't say much. Biologically, if you aren't drinking antifreeze, people will wanna do different things, anyways. Are videogames addictive? No, but success, power, comfort, and fun are. How come some people cant get addicted to videogames? Cause they don't get those values from games. They find success, power, comfort, and fun elsewhere.

So, no matter what you're doing, you're gonna be constantly seeking success, power, comfort, and fun. Oh and fear can fuck you up
