So this movie sucks ass? Doesn't surprise me since his last good movie was Aliens (and that was nothing compared to Alien... at least Fincher brought back the dread and destroyed the fucking stupid clichés).

This is a misconception too many retards people make.

A fairer thing to say is: Most things suck (90-95%) regardless of when/where things originate. There are good movies, music, games, etc. being made now, it's just that not enough people have discovered it yet. We can say, "Things were way better back in 19XX," but damn hindsight really puts up blinders and makes us forget all the swill one had to swim through in order to find a (supposed) gem.

Agreed, especially Cameron. Yeah, he isn't as fucking awful as, let's say... Michael Bay, but shit.

I think the movie was great. predictable but great!.... all I have to say is, if Africa had flying dragons hundreds of years ago I think things might have been different too...

I thought Avatar was terrific, but I'm a glass-half-full kinda guy.

I particularly liked the repetition of the being/avatar relationship throughout the movie. The general has his mech. The protagonist has several. His wheelchair. His Navi. His Navi has his horse and then that bird thing & then that "Last Shadow" thing.

The societies represented in the movie have their own symbolic representations of what they really are. Big Tree. Corporation. The scientists have their lab.

The drivers (prime moving forces) of these societies are represented as fire on the one side & bioluminescence (and stuff) on the other.

Not a bad flick. It ain't The Terminator but then it isn't Titanic either.

You're the 3rd person who's mentioned that today (not on this thread, but on my end).

Anyway - I think it was probably the best film this year? I can't think of anything else memorable.

    SAW 6.

Nah, I'm just fucking with you.

Drag me To Hell, Zombieland or Surrogates are probably my favourite movies released this year.

Watchmen is probably worth mentioning as well.

Only ones I remember watching this year are Bruno, District 9 and Inglourious Basterds. I really liked Bruno, District 9 was decent too.

Don't think i'll watch Avatar, the Dances With Smurfs thing puts me off.

    Are you serious?
I'm bewildered how imdb review this film....

I'll try "Paranormal Activity" this week, but I won't expect that much~~

District 9 is decent, and the best two movies I think they are avatar and up~
Inglourious Basterds lies down about 2 mothes but I never watch it...

I really liked Drag Me To Hell. Reminded me a lot of the Evil Dead Movies, which I'm guessing was what Raimi was after.

It drops to 7.3 now and I remembered it was 8.0 when I watched it.

I really dislike the titles like this "The scariest movie of the decade". It makes me eager to watch but disappointed after.... Otherwise the movie itself is not bad~~

I'm not one to take someone else's opinion, unless I actually know them. Especially a collective representation of the internet's views on a movie.

It is the same basic story. Been done over and over and will be done again. Usually enjoyable though. Going off topic, i've actually been to the real Fern Gully (Jamaica) [IMG].

I liked Saw 6 actually. [IMG] (but I like the Saw series anyway), and Watchmen too, now that you mentioned it.

I'd give Cameron some credit for his Alien world though. Not many people could pull off that sense of awe, and the attention to detail was actually very good.

Also, this must be the first time that anyone was able to do a dragons vs machines battle properly.

Story-wise though, I think Watchmen was slightly better, but I think overall, I'd give Avatar the nod. I mean, sure, the DWW comparison is legit, but it was still a good movie.

Best film I saw all year was Waltz with Bashir. Anyone else see it?

Watchmen was pretty boring for me. It just seemed to drag on. Also, Ozymandias (or however it's spelled) seemed too small size wise compared to how he was in the comic book, which bothered me somewhat. Rorschach was spot on though.

How long is Avatar? I'm going to see it sometime next week.

Ash, I saw Waltz with bashir, it was very good indeed. My favorite movie this year was Gran Torino, or was it last year?

I think you guys are too worked up over the whole story thing. Honestly, I can't believe there's a single person who didn't know how Titanic was going to end!

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and IMAX 3D definitely brings it to life.
