My nephew didn't know how it was going to end.

He seen it last year on the telly and asked me if the boat was going to sink straight after they hit the iceberg.

Titanic was a historic event. If your doing a movie based on past events, of course we know how they end. But if it is an original story, how that story develops and plays out IS the reason to go to a movie. If you want to see graphics, see a tech demo. A movie is about loosing yourself in another reality.

I agree, (the following are rhetorical) but have you been reading the posts here in regards movies? Have you listened conversations about XXXXX-movie lately?

Graphics, Fan-Service, and lack-of-originality-as-well-as-shit-script-writing (not to mention cliche-ridden) is what people go for. Shit, just look at how AAAWesome 300 or Transformers was to the average VFDCitizen.

There is a reason why Michael Bay still makes movies; retards go and see them.

well, I personally think transformers wasn't that great, and transformers 2 was crap (Still saw them but w/e). 300 was alright, it was just a fun action movie to watch, it didn't try to be anything else and it had... charisma or something, it stuck to its testostorone pumped attitude throughout, I can't hate something that stays true to itself like that. It wasn't AMAZING but still very fun to watch. BTW- Watchmen would be my fav for this year, I thought it was great, but i didn't go to theatres much this year.

But anyway My review on avatar- Personally I thought the movie was alright. It wasn't spectacular (except of course in the graphics department, i saw it in 3d). I would probably never want to watch it again lol.. but watching it the first time was an interesting experienc. The story was better then you guys made it sound like, still definitely not a original story, but compared to crap like transformers 2, it was acceptable.
PS- my review may be biased due to the constant alien fan service hmm...

I saw it. To borrow a line from the movie... I saw it. I was absolutely overwhelmed by the grandeur. The imagery and concepts were so moving that tears came out of my eyes at least five times. I wanted to shout at the top of my lungs when they first flew the birds down the face of the mountain.

The apocalyptic visualization where it seemed the heroine would be overrun by the invaders. The look on her face. The explosions in the background. The colors were perfect. The expressions were amazing.

I was overwhelmed for at least an hour afterwards. Absolutely overwhelmed. Every synapse was firing about what I had just seen. I did not want to even drive out of the parking lot before collecting myself. I could have run into something.

Thank you James Cameron and thank goodness that such spectacles can be put together in this day and age.

Right now, if I never saw another movie. I would be OK with that.

I love the story. I don't care that it has been done before.

The idea of communication with the planet and all things on it is just exquisite.

    Connections.

I've seen my dogs hunt, attack, and kill another creature. Their apparent respect for the kill (which I'm sure was just instinct of watching to make sure some other predator didn't take their food) was just exemplified in the first hunting scene. If my dogs could think in abstractions, they would "see" their prey. Of course I project human traits on my dogs. Of course they are not human. I do not care.

I love driving my car. I love how I can feel the road through the steering wheel and my whole being. How I wish I could plug my freaking hair into it and be as one.

I can look at something so outrageous and still think "It would be so AWESOME if I could do that."

I hope that never goes away.

Up until today, I thought that what I felt about this movie couldn't be put into words.
    Thanks, Plague.

I find it interesting how anybody could harp on this movie. When I first heard/read a couple of reviews (even some reviews right here) my expectations weren't that high.
    Thank goodness.
Thank all of you who harped on this movie and didn't say things like "It was the best movie experience of my life" because then my expectations would've been too high... but I have to be honest here:
I felt like a kid again, dazzled and amazed by the creativity and... those animals... just, wow... I'm feeling "wordless" again... I'll say this though:
I'm not a guy to collect toys (unless it's VF toys XD) but if they come out with a good figurine (or whatever you call it) of that giant bird at with the flame design on his back (can't remember his name) I'm getting it.
That's how majestic and totally fuckingawesomecool I think that winged creature is.
I WILL be watching it again and if I was rich, I would watch it every weekend until the day that they took it out of the theater.

I just saw Avatar. After readying what you guys wrote about it, I decided to see it with an open mind and without being to presumptuous; it was a good movie.

    *SPOILERS*

The movie made me sad really. It's theme really does parallel a lot of injustices our soldiers face. Marines, after war being cast aside as damage goods. In this those depicted are nothing more than hired guns trying to make a living working for large corporations. It was crazy sad when I saw all those good men probably with families of their own being pitted against a living planet; vastly unprepared and slaughtered with the help of Judas.

All for what? Legs? The chance to swing from branches? Funny that even in this future setting, with the science to restore the main characters legs available, the healthcare system does not work in favor of a fallen soldier.

Desperation to live can lead anyone to desperate measures but that ungrateful bastard was given a way out. By the end of the movie I wanted to blow all those Blue bastards to hell. What good are they anyway, a human is better at being a Nubi than they are.

I had to let out a Hoorah when the Sergeant took 2 to the chest. Seriously

unfucking believable... If I could put it into words this is exactly how my experience with the movie felt. I was talking to Shag afterward and we all stood around for like 30 minutes to an hour just talking about how beautiful the experience was. I guess it was like Plague said... time was needed to sort of gather yourself and what you just went through.

People can hate all they want, but in my eyes the movie was flawless. I feel exactly the way Tony felt... It really was the greatest movie experience of my life.

Avatar is good enough to see twice in the theater.
If you didn't watch 3D last time, I suggest go get it again!

Avatar 3D blu-ray comes later than regular 2D version, and it requres upgrade setup(both monitor and BD player). I think it's much easier to buy one extra ticekt to watch 3D again for that experience!!

Fuck no, I'm prohuman, I play for the home team baby all the way. You're probably a Cincinnati native that roots for the Cowboys aren't you?

Sides the Aliens came in blasting in Independence day, we just wanted to uproot a tree in Avatar.

To be fair, although the story was meh, it was entertaining if you just sit back and enjoy it for what it is. I wouldn't see it twice if you bought my ticket though. I'd see Sherlock Holmes though.

Actually if my interest was truly to troll you'd be the perfect person to derail the thread with. Plague saw what I did thar. So let me leave this thread to the people that love it. I for one didn't hate it but meh, there's nothing else for me to see here.
