Bad Games Thread

I've been checking vfdc on and off for... lets see.. 7 years give or take. I started playing VF seriously around the time I started checking. I was in Japan as an exchange student, and just wanted to know some moves and strategy at that point. I used to read up on VF, maybe print out some stuff, then go apply it at the arcades. Worked my way up to about 7th or 8th dan, came back to the states and played a couple local matches against some dudes in ohio (mainly maddy) that I had emailed directly from the site. Then I joined the military. I practiced a bit just to make sure I didn't lose too much from back in the day, but seeing as how noone I knew really ever stood a chance, and I moved around a lot... there was really never any point to make an account or post. Now theres xbl, now I actually care about whether the skill level of westerners rises (the better you all get, the better I'll be able to get), and now I'm vocal.

So, in other words, TWP called it.

Edit: Also, I feel it important to point out that, while yes, you were *part* of my motivation for writing what I did... the part where I said basically to stop complaining, go practice, and if you have problems check the dojo. That part, wasn't specifically at you. That was to everyone who was giving excuses for their losses that involved some sort of fundamental flaw in the game.

 

Well, you can see my posts so saying that to me just isn't applicable. I'm always trying to learn. You're just jumping in and posting about stuff you don't know anything about. Proof: your post in the rising against Brad thread...

But seriously, look at what you're doing dude, you're going around scanning threads looking for something that I said that may have been inaccurate. I'm not interested in flaming.

Bad games To this one lei-fei who was playing extremely linear... so tauntingly I dodged all of his attacks left, right, left, right, etc... I just smash this dude then he spams the hell outta of me with insults and stuff. So now I'm wondering how do people get to 8th Dan with skills like that?

You really need to ask??? You can get to 8th dan using Lei with your eyes closed and both hands tied behind your back...

Lei fei has huge holes--it's up to the player to use good defensive technique to cover them up. Honestly gerns, i think lion is hard to deal with but i'm not CONSTANTLY complaining about having to gaurd my feet the entire fight, or lion having a string of 3 double kicks that cannot be interupted. Or lion having to many mixups. Lei is slow, and linear, and struggles with framerates. If you defend well, lei loses his "avalanche coming down a mountain mistique" AND i'm only 6th dan and have some skills so lets cease on the anyone can be 8th dan talk. In fact in 8th dan is someone with a good understanding of the game, hoping to take the next step to shallow mastery. I know my lei fei, but i don't understand enough of the other characters. For example i don't understand Jacky. I suck against him, blaze, lau, jeff, sarah...And i don't understand Tsugurl 1, a jacky whom i played last night. He's a second dan and has beat me twice ranked with a run and hide jacky. I'm ok with that, sorta--i mean i get agitated when i lose but i take it, cause i struggle with jacky and anything 2nd dan or above and i know it'll be tough. Well, were in round five and he's been running forever but i'm gonna win and he pulls and claims his game locked. Always in final rd of loss right? So bad games to Tsugurl. Bad game. I would understand if i didn't take 2 losses to him, or it affected his rank--not really but still. But really, what? Was he trying to protect his %30 win percentage. Gern, i'd like to play u sometime. I need to work on lion, i just avoid him in ranked.

 

P.S. i'm not trying to flame u gerns, i just get tired of the lei fei op thing when there are so many characters i struggle against--more than half. : )
