Bad Games Thread

You should flame him, fucking tired of hearing the Lei Fei BS. There are several characters I have trouble with i don't come on here flaming others for using them and I damn for sure do not claim that anyone who plays said character is guaranteed to get "__" rank. I don't care who looks better on paper, if your having trouble with any character get in dojo and learn to fight, that or invite a top tier person for some games and ask for advice.

Just because you personally struggle against one character or the other means nothing about the power of Lei or anyone else. You're using the strongest guy in the game, determined by people who know MUCH more about VF than you or I, and you're not winning against weaker characters. Lion is one of the weakest, determined by the same individuals, so I don't know what to tell you other than: that's not good.

You're tired of the Lei Fei is "overpowered" thing (he's just the MOST powerful, whether or not he's OVERpowered is much more debatable) because you use him and you don't like to think it's helping you out, even a little. So keep deluding yourself. Why would it matter to me?

If you like the edge using Lei gives you that's fine, go ahead and use him, he's in the game right? But DON'T come on here telling me he's not powerful when you know he is AND he's the only guy you use so you really wouldn't know anyway. If people are beating you with weaker characters, they are just outplaying you, hands down.

I like VF5 but I get very tired of people who are using the most powerful guy in the game, championing the balance, it's corny. Use Lion or Sarah for a couple of months and come back and tell me, in all honesty, that he is as strong and as easy to win with as Lei. You won't, I KNOW that. Winning with those character takes a lot more WORK. (WORK not guessing or anything else, WORK. More correct guesses cause you do less damage, have a lower priority and much larger, riskier disadvantages.)

I didn't make the tier list[/size], that was made by people that know waaaay more about the game than I do. On the level VF is played at in the US, I think the tiers mean even more. I'm not good enough at VF5 to get every ounce of power out of my Lion or my Goh so anyone using Lei has an advantage, on paper, over me. Even more so because we're all mid-level so "on-paper" advantages actually mean even more.

Yes, the game comes down to good guesses but when your moves do so much more damage and thus, have a higher priority than mine it doesn't make it easier for me. Plus, you can stagger and crumple off so many moves and sabaki 2 out of 3 options on almost every sabaki, I don't know what to say to you.

If you don't think Lei is the strongest guy in the game then you don't know enough about the game...

And lastly, I would never expect a Lei player to admit Lei is good at all. According to the Lei players here, he's the weakest guy in the game right???

One last thing, don't tell me to use Lei Fei, I don't want to. I am not interested in using the most powerful guy just because he's the most powerful guy. I play for fun and enjoyment of the game, not to get my worthless, utterly meaningless rank up in ranked match.

Why are people still talking about their rank??? How stupid is that???

I'm just curious as to what changes should be made to Fei to un-OP him. I'd also like to say they made plenty of changes to Fei from VF4 to VF5 to tone him down such as Hai P being a high instead of mid

 

That's because it's a question I can't answer. I haven't faced enough people to make a good comaprisson against all characters. Right now I'd say it's Kage, but that's because the last Kage I saw was Myke, and well, he could be using any character and make me look like a fool.

Against someone a bit more of my level like Zero, Sarah, or more to the point, his Sarah scares the poop out of me. My roomate, Fagan who's a better player than me, uses Lei, and Zero's Sarah still scares me more.

 

I think what Cuz is trying to say, is that whenever you lose against a character ranked higher than Lion, you blame the balance instead of putting some of that on yourself for just not playing well in the match.

I play Sarah and I'd be playing Sarah regardless of what the character rankings are, because I was using her before I knew about the specific placements.

I'll also tell you that, imo the game isn't as balanced as some players say(those players that use higher ranked characters), but I think this is due to some engine issues that higher ups can take more advantage of. Also though, a plus side to using someone like Sarah is that almost everything works against her in this game, so it makes the guessing games easier because it's easier to choose my poison.

Gernburgs, you also do nothing but complain about tiers, but you never ever say a damn thing about matchups. You never know, Lion might not be a good matchup for Lei Fei, but if you beat a good Lei Fei, you'd just think that they royally sucked because they're using #1.

What if people who know the game a lot better than u suddenly decide lei isn't op, does your mind change. What if people who know the game a lot better than u decided that lion, who is twice the man he used to be, still is not much of a man...or only a girly man..does your opinion change. Seriously, though. I find the strongest characters to be blaze, lau, and kage from my experience. Are they? To me yes. To others? If i only fought lei fei my record/rank/reputation would be better. But those guys I freely admit i am worst against those. I do not match up well against them. I don't consistantly make an ass of myself complaining about them. Instead i try and learn. I may always struggle against them. Lei fei may always be my easiest opponent. Whose to say. And i am NOT an apologist. I WILL NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR WHIPPING @SS WITH LEI FEI. That's my goal going in everytime. You don't like it, take advantage of the holes in his game. Struggles with frame rates--it's a bitch getting in an attack without advantage. You have "work" harder with lei to open a string than u do say...lion. Anywho, not saying lion is op or anyone is op. Also, anytime u lose you were outplayed...like it or not. Cheesy or not. Spammy or not. The only score keeping is win/loss.

Awesome post social_ruin. Never apologize for something that you don't have to. I use Lei because I like him and want to get better with him. Gerns, the last time I played you with Lei I won more than usual and you never said they were cheap wins. You said that you couldn't read me anymore/i got less predictible. I just don't understand why you're bitching about other Lei's now.

Before that, I played you with my Kage and you messaged me that he was cheap. P - elbow/throw/b+k+g~b+p+g (hit throw) is cheap? WTF?

First Kage, now Lei? Gerns you my boy and all but DAMN SON, GET YOURSELF TOGETHER MAN!! The moment you think a character's cheap is when you lose. You think they're cheap therefore maybe in your head you think it's ok to lose and hence not try any harder.
It's ok to get frustrated, but calm yourself down and think before you react to so-called cheapness.

Gern, stop bitching, start adapting. We all get frustrated sometimes and call BS but in the end it's usually what we do or don't do that fucks us up.
