His ideas are crap, there's no need to sugarcoat it.

Or would you rather take away a person's right to an opinion?

I am actually very good at VF4. I can easily demolish heros and what not, but I don't have any friends that like Virtua Fighter. Wish I did, but they all think it's a ton of fruffy, girly, Japanese fighting. Pretty ignorant, really. I tell them they're both Japanese games, and they laugh and call me an idiot, saying "Tekken was obviously made here in America!"

Oh well, this topic doesn't really matter anymore to me anyway.

To all those who just like to play VS mode...doesn't VFeverything already have that? What's the problem with adding more stuff to single player? I don't think that because you have more options of what to do in single player the VS mode will for some reason suck. VF4 already has the richest fighting mechanics of any fighting game ever; it's the lack of flash that keeps people away. I live in a university of 40,000 students, and despite my searching all I can find are Soul Calibur and Tekken heads. So I play a crapload of quest mode. Would a better single player business attract some fans of the gayer fighting games to our side? I think so, and then maybe I can get some damn opponents.

Keeping what this thread was origanally intended for in mind, I came up with some ideas for multiplayer internet play. I decided to ignore Elite's posts; he will not accept or even appreciate other people's posts.
First off, I think that there should be something like a town where you play in. There would be thousands of Virtua Fighters going through this town (keep in mind that it's a huge town. In this town there would be arcades and stuff that you go to that would directly correspond to the Quest mode arcades. If you manage to get into a Quest mode arcade, you can get a ranking match for the corresponding multiplayer arcade to get into it. On the arcades you could create and organize tournaments and matches. There could be public tournaments where everyone's invited, or private ones where only the people you invited could enter. There could also be a verbal fist fight between you and some other guy evolving into a "right here, right now" type of fight where people would may crowd around you, depending on your rank.
Now your avatar will be you (obviously), but it would change according to your rank. It could just be your regular character, or it could have an aura arund it that would intensify and change as your rank heightened. The avatar would look like your regular character with all his or her items on it.
Now, with a higher rank, you would usually hang aroud the better part of town with the better arcades and shops. As you go up to the better parts of town, the shops are much better and sell better items. There would be chat rooms, ranging from a single cafe to a huge complex of rooms, each with it's own subject (in a sense, VFDC could be hosted in a big room on the multiplayer server). You could even auction off items for cash (making huge cash for auctioning off a full set of orbs). Sega-AM2 would be constantly updating items, making new and more improved versions of items. You could even download a program that lets you make your own items, after which you would send the home made items off to Sega-AM2 to be approved, and, if your item gets approved, you would be payed a sum of money depending on how good your item is and how much they liked it. If you become a champion, you will promoted to a final arcade. If you beat it (and the W.M.A.C.II on Quest mode) you will go to the uptown district. Your ranks would continue on from there like the ranks in the original VF4 after Hero and Champion. If you manage to make it to the highest rank, the pheonix and dare-devil ranks would follow, culminating in the best rank of Chibita, making you a legend. When you walk in the streets with that rank, your presence will be notified beforehand to everyone in the vicinity. To obtain his rank, you would have to beat like 100 Pheonixes to obtain that rank, and only one person could hold it. Whaen you're Chibita rank, you have acess to all items at discounts, and recieve a really cool item to hold and show the world that you are the best.
    Anyway, that's about it. *whew*

thats pretty good, except the item maker, sure it would kick ass, but that would mean way too many options clogging up disc space, and that in turn ends up meaning less things available.still thatd rock if they could do it. and for the whole shop thingy, i hope there'sd a TON of items i hate having my character look the same as someone elses like the black winged black clothed red haired sarah a ton of people have.

Then change what yours looks like, problem solved.

why change it, when that problem could be resolved by there being a ton of items? at least 20 items per body part should fix all those concerns. it's really bothersome kicking some guy's ass when he looks exactly like one of your costumes.

There isn't a ton of items, and you're complaining about it now. So change it.

What I ment by an item editor was a seperate computer program that you would synchronise with the game.

oohh okay then yea.I thought you meant IN the game. but that won't happen i think not many pp would buy that, + it'd take forever to make.there's a lot of possibilities and with AM2's slow game cycle, hell it'd come 3 years later.

Some people have that kind of devotion to modify and create things. Sure, it's time consuming, but the results are well worth it (i you have infinite patience).

I would love to see an online mode as most of my friends are not into games and i have to go arcade to challenge and improve my skills which costs alot in the long run. But I doubt sega will do that seeing that most of there revenue comes from the arcade business, but it would be great. Maybe someone said this already but cant be bothered to read the whole post

You should understand one thing; especially about these particular forums. There are a lot of purists on these boards (myself included). It's not that these ideas aren't good. For most of these purists, they (we /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif) would prefer to keep VF the way it has been for a long time; a game that isn't about bells and whistles. Even the bells and whistles that we have now (quest, customizeable chars, record keeping), they exist, but they weren't implemented with a ton of other fun-but-worthless stuff. Besides, record keeping speaks for itself, and character customization is cool because it adds a personal touch to your chars. I personally think your ideas are cool. But the purist in me would prefer to keep the one fighter with few "gimmicks" the way it is.

I have few friends that play VF as well (well, until I ran into SoCal crew). And all the bells and whistles of other 3D fighters made me sick. Watching Link fight Nightmare in SC2, for example, is a freaking joke. Also, many friends (whom I own) brag about their 99 game survival mode streak. Imo, if you can't kick my ass, then why even brag?

But to stay on topic...VF5 ideas... here's my wishlist in order of importance.
    1. Bring Taka back and kicking arse /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif
    2. Bring the "lower tier characters" (if you'd call them that) a little closer in calibre with the higher ones (though I think Evo did this wonderfully).
3.Leave multi-level stages the hell out of VF for the rest of VF's days.
4.Leave evading the way it is (though I would gladly adjust if it changed).
5.On whatever home-version comes out, bring back the mem-card system from VF4.

They could leave the graphics, stages, sounds, etc, exactly the same for all I care.

    Aaaaaaaaack, for me it is
    1) Bring back VF3 style stages....good lord its boring just fighting on a flat square/rectangle.
    2) Bring back the E-Button
    3) Bring back taka
    4) take the asthetics further - torn clothing, a bit of blood, swelling of the face, etc.
    5) A more developed defensive game...have what I would call an "active" blocking system which could be used instead of just holding guard that somehow universally blocks all attacks with magic.
    6) A bit more involved ground/wrestling game.

I pretty much agree, especially on the evade and terrain points.

VF4's 3D movement just feels cramped and unresponsive, and the fights less dynamic as a result. Maybe if they just extended the reach of a failed-evade or improved the 3D movement it would be better.

I feel much of the flow of VF3 needs to return, imo. For example, a quick swing up onto the steps in the subway followed by a float launcher felt so good in VF3. Also ring-outs were more common and a viable winning tactic. In Evo, winning with a ring-out feels more like a cheat.

I would like to be able to set up tournaments between 4 to 8 players.

    Total scrubb talking ->

    1) Better 3d movement
Yeah, completely agree. Sc's 8wr is kinda nice, although I'm not asking for the sidesteps in sc2.

    2) Better jumping attacks
Again completely agree. I think moves like wolf's uf+k should be natural jumping attacks. And some chars like jeff, prob shouldn't have jumping attacks at all.

    3) Akira
Sorry, if I'm a complete scrub, but I think it's stupid to have execution like his. I don't see how difficult/impossible execution better the game in anyway. I'd say make his moves easier to do, but harder to apply.

    4) More [effective] catch throws
The vets will prob flame me to hell for this, but I'm a 2D player at heart, so I'm kinda used to having SPDs and PBs eat up incoming strikes. This is like the biggest thing that I miss in VF4E. SC sort of has it, but SC throws are sooo slow, and now they are GIable.. sigh, so not really. To me, it's the SPD/PBs that eat up incoming attacks that give the Gief/Potemkins their grappler flavor and intimidation factor. Without it, Wolf/Jeff feel more like strikers to me, than grapplers. I wish VF4 had catch throws that were somewhat faster, and with larger catch windows, but with much less range.

    5) Throw range differentiation.
Its so obvious that Asta has better throw range than Xiang. But in VF4, do characters even have diff throw ranges? Not talking about catch throws, here. Again, this lacking detract from the grappler character flavor.

    6) HP differentiation.
Yet more flame bait. I know that diff weights allow for diff damage intake, but I wish there was a HP differentiation to begin with. I mean it's kinda silly that Jeff and Pai have the same HP. Again, I realize this is more of my 2D scrubbiness talking (where e.g., Potemkin has much more HP, and floats less than Jam).

    Just my 2 cents:
Better 3D movement - I think the movement is just fine now. Too much 3D movement can make the game somewhat confusing/chaotic to play, like Ergheiz. Someone also mentioned before about less penalty for failed evade. The whole point for leaving you open to attack is so that you actually have to think about what you're doing, instead of just blindly trying to evade everything.

Better jumping attacks - I kinda agree on this. It would be nice to see jumping attacks that are actually useful. They are hardly used right now, if at all.

Akira - well, Akira is meant to be an expert character. They give him difficult inputs because those moves do a lot of damage. If they make the input easier, they would have to downgrade the damage to make it fair. But since Akira is already lacking in certain areas (lack of easy strings, lack of full circle attack, etc) that would make him too weak and would change the balance of the game characters. Plus, I think it's impressive whenever someone pulls off the SPoD or the knee (or 4 knees). It's a great way to show off your skills.

Catch throws - I think catch throws would be nice if they have some minor evading properties, but that's about it, especially since they are not escapable already. I think they just fine the way are for mind games.

Throw range difference - I think there ARE differences in throw range already, both between characters and between different throws of a character. I believe, Jeffry and Wolf both have throw ranges that's longer than other characters. You wouldn't want to make the throw range difference to be too big, just like you wouldn't make the jab range difference to be too big either. I believe that would make the game unbalanced. I know what you mean, though. I am personally a Goh user and sometimes I find myself not using a single throw in a round because the opponent stays outside of my throw range. But I think you can change that by changing yoru playing style to be more aggresive.

HP diff - I this might be a good idea, since you would expect someone like Jeff and Wolf being able to take a bit more punishment than Pai or Aoi. There's already a weight class for how high somone gets floated, why not put something like damage reduction for non-float damage. I don't know how hard it would be to implement, but something like 5% reduction for the two heaviest guys (7.5% for Taka if he's back =)) and vise versa for the lighter characters. I wouldn't touch damage in float since heavies are already floated lower and air combo scales down anyway.

I've always wondered why a tournament feature wasn't included in Ver. C or Evo. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif This would be a great for gatherings. Let's hope they include it next time around.
