Alucard, you SUCK at taking movies. None of the clips that you were supposed to be filming got filmed!!! Wah lan ne!!!!!

ZYEITH: While we were shooting clips this guy kept telling us we weren't allowed to record. What's up with that? Claims it's Singapore law that one cannot record or photograph in arcades...sounds like bullshit to me. He also claims he's the manager, but confirmed that he's not.

What to do? Can you tell the guys to let us record? I don't see the harm at all quite frankly. It's either we play at Bugis and record there...or we play at home and record at home. Can you please speak on our behalf, it just seems a little bit ridiculous.

P.S. We recorded matches in the Yishun arcade with no problems...in fact, we attracted quite a large crowd checking out what's going on.

singapore law...yah..i'll believe it when i see that piece of legislation that specifically states ' no recording allowed in amusement centres'.

I have seen ppl filming in arcade centres...don't tell me that is a different sort of 'recording'....

Plus, didn't SC2 tournies at bugis(or not...regardless of the location) get recorded on a camcorder as well?

    What gives?

I'm not exactly in my best mood...I better stop b4 I regret my stupid mouth ^0^

Never mind lah... the few matches that were supposed to be recorded kind of sucked anyway. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif We'll try again this sat loh(IF we are allowed to).

Anyway, the card readers on both machines blew up today, like that dunno how to play man, I certainly wouldn't want to update my cards when they are used up(lest I end up like Jeff /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif).
Shit, my Pai card has less than 50 games left, die liao. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Outta interest, how come you guys didn't wanna try the cable to camcorder recording ? If I remember correctly, some camcorders do allow recordings directly from an input cable, though those were particularly bulky to bring around... Correct me if I'm wrong though, since I'm not exactly sure myself. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Though if I remember correctly from what Genie said last time, it would be hell to set up....

Ah heck, convenience is more important I guess. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Oh yeah, is anyone going to Japan ? I'm thinking of asking someone to get me more of those foodstuffs that they have over there in the Airport... Delicious stuff I tell you, though awfully sweet... /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Ice: Dammit....my fault...i posted a reply to you after your post about using digicam but somehow it didn't appear here.. /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Was gonna inform you guys about no filming in our centres... :p

I was asking if you be interested to hold sort of a mini tourney. If so, i can try to arrange for a day to have the equipments setup and record some of the gameplays direct into a tape(VHS). Then either you guys bring the tape to SIM LIM and have it converted onto a CD or anyone here that has a Video Capture Card can do it for you.

No its definitely NOT stated in any legislation in Singapore that filming is not allowed in arcades..haha I think what he meant to say was that its OUR management's rule... /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Was he being mean or anything? Anyways, did you manage to get the guys name? Apologies guys but its really the management's rule all along that no UNAUTHORISED filming is allowed in our centres.. but you guys can consider the option i proposed abt the mini tourney. The quality of recording will definitely be much better then digicams but not as nice as DV though as its gonna be NTSC. Trust me, its gonna be FUN! lol /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif *Imagines Summah rocking joystick vigourously trying to flash some moves to be recorded*

Hmm, for me it's all about convenience. Bringing my digital camera and recording a couple matches is easy, fun, and spontaneous. Holding a tourney, tapes, conversion...it's cool if somebody else wants to do it and organize the whole thing, but not me.

Usually, there are reasons behind rules right? The guy I spoke to (didn't bother getting his name) said something about management not wanting their competitors to know what's inside the arcade? Like...uhh, WTF, this is a public place. What the heck is so top secret?

"Wow!! Bugis has Para para! We didn't know that! Let's get one for our arcade! Hu hu hu, now we can better compete against Bugis!"

Sorry, it seems like a pretty dumb rule to me.

How many people do you think will join the tourney? There's definately gonna be an entry fee rite? Is it enough for you to cover your cost and maybe perhaps to BUY BRAND NEW CARD READERS? Thanks for replying to us so promptly. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

It's a rule to prevent people taking photographic evidence of all the school-kids who are at the arcade during school hours :p

  17. Zyeith

    Zyeith Well-Known Member

LMAO..hahaha you really shd have gotten his name...lol He's a CLASSIC!!! Urmm anyways...its not that reason I SWEAR..stupid of him to say that actually....very very ....lol

There're other reasons resulting in the management having to implement this rule within our centres..something to do with previous incidents actually..so, sorry you guys cant do that. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

For the tourney, urrm maybe we can get some volunteers from here to help out? Stuffs like designing of posters and rules, contacting of participants are all i need help with. Setups i can arrange to have it up, after approval from management of course.

Hmmm hard to say....but we can always do a mini one first to test the market? /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Aye, there usually will be a minimal entrance fee involved. But if its a mini one, i can propose for pay-per-play? No prizes though..hehe The registration fees are usually to cover the prizes. It'll never be able to cover cost and manpower. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

pltan: *claps claps* you got yourself 2 points! But need to edit abit.. "Photographic Evidence of school kids that SNEEKED in resulting in us having to pay hefty fines.."...these kids have no idea how much it will cost us just to let them have a go at PARA PARA during school hours...hehe
