Got the game liao. The quest mode is quite interesting.
Herez what I think:
Its quite easy to Rank up.
Item is hard to get.
Win tournament at each area gives a reward. (money or item)
Must meet certain requirements before you can enter the tournament at each area e.g 30 wins to quality. When you meet the requirements, you will be prompt whether you want to exit and join tournament or carry on with the random battle.
There an event centre where all the big tournaments held. No requirements to join but the computer all higher ranks and quite intelligent. At least more intelligent than the Kumite mode in VF4.

Plus: Might have a gathering this weekend at my place. But no promises cos my schoolwork is terribly piling up.

Danny: call you yesterday so many times but you never on your Hp. Wanted to ask you to try the game out.

Yes that is what I noticed. Quite easy to rank up. The AI is vastly improved. The training room looks very much like the Danger Room of X-Men /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif But I miss the caged industrial environment of VF4 Original.

I may offer my place this Sat 15 Mar for a gathering of sorts. My coffee table is removed and I have a big space in front of the TV now. PM to confirm if Zhifeng is not available. Time to exchange notes /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

 

u forgot to mention about hyper battle mode. Combos are ridiculous. eg, Akira can DE and follow with SPoD. Almost like a true continuous combo.

I was trying Jacky in the hyper battle mode(HBM) and I could do KK, KK and KK. Its nearly endless. And, another possibility is PP, d+K, ub+K. It works.

From the two matches I played, one with wolf and the other Akira, I feel that computer Akira is a menace in HBM.

As for the stages, there r 2 versions of each. ie, there is a VF4 version of every stage in the game. ie, Pai's original aquarium stage from VF4 is still in the game, along with the new VF4evo stage.

Goh's sabaki kick crumbles on MC, I think. Its much better than the ver A evo and opens up more options. ie, low throw and combo. Haven't seen Goh in HBM.

The AI is indeed much better. Its not like in VF4 where u can abuse the AI's weak pts. There are few weak pts in the AI. u might say that the whole AI received an overhaul.

The quest mode's sub tournaments are varied. I kinda like the "Wall attack mode"(I can't remember the exact name). Everytime when u bash the opponent against the wall, he/she receives additional damage. Likewise, if u get bashed against wall, additional damage will be dealt out. Makes the game a little more exciting.

 

Aiyah all so lucky. I reserved mine through phone yesterday and today Jurong West SC told me sold out and priority given to those who gave deposit. Yesterday evening not yet arrive today morning sold out. Excellent.

If u want, go down to sim lim tower seow choon. Yesterday evening, I went, still have. But, u have to rush down. Not sure if they have any left.

But, funny, why out of sudden so many pple interested in the game?! Thought the game dying out in Singapore and gamersquare.com pple not that interested in evo.... /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Anyway, I can't wait to go home for another few more rounds. But, now play 3 round at home like a little weird, cos' too used to Yishun's 2 round matches. argh! 3 round match at home like take forever one.

One word of caution here. The AI is a killer.... cannot anyhow abuse. I use Jacky dodge, P+K+G, cannot get free throw..... sian... The AI quite smart one, especially Akira. This morning I play against him, kenna trash.

eg, AI akira SDE, then combo DJK. d+P+K -> DJK again! scary....Haven't see AI akira do SDE, +, yet.

AI aoi also another siao zhar bo. hehe. She has this weird punch stab move that crumbles on MC. Then, when she did that, she followed up with f+K,K. The AI use her combo not bad one. Not like VF4 PS2.

I played against the computer Goh. Also quite amazing one. Seeing is believing.

 

Bwahahahaaa!! Me and Danny got the last two at Seow Choon.

I have no idea. All I know is that I was enthusiastically buying it in Seow Choon. Got off work early and went to SLT to get. I even hopped over to SLS where a friend had Net access and posted its arrival over 3 forums /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

HBM is completely crazy! The HBM Leifei dished out string upon strings of hits. I'm staying away from HBM for the time being.

I just got back from Seow Choon. New stock of PS2 Evo will be in 2morow (after 2pm).

$89 each.. $87 if you buy 2 copies or more... $50 if you bundle it with the 'evil' xbox purchase..hehehe

I must say they really have the best bargain in town.

 

But, HBM quite fun. Can chain all kinds of funny combo, even pressing K repeatedly with Jacky can do miracles! Like, Baek from Tekken. hehe.

IMO, Akira has probably the highest damage potential on HBM. Imagine this, K+G, DE, DLC 2/3, SPoD!!!! Just dun let the opponent fall. hehe.

Alan, not sure where u can get a copy of evo. But, u can try seow choon. Funny thing is why the game can go out of stock?! Thought no one play already....

Can't imagine how Dural can fight in HBM. Sure die 1!!

Actually, mem card not that expensive. for a normal 8 meg, its about 30 something. can buy one, if our group is not too big. but, if many pple use the same character, then mah fan....
