Where can I find a picture of this outfit? /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I hope they at least resolve the memory card issue...
I can't believe they want to censor a game for a country where BMX XXX was released.

So Acclaim can release a horrible biking game with strippers and we can't get a home release of a game without Sega covering our eyes when the "naughty" bits are on.

    Did you not play vf3?

Of *course* I did. I've been playing VF games since the tender age of 12.

I've seen much worse (or should I say better /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif outfits for female characters than Vanessa's pl. 1. I can see censoring her outfit if she was topless, but come on; they're just workout clothes! Capcom didn't alter any of Cammy's win poses, or Chun Li's fireball animation from Super SF when they came stateside. I can give sooo many more examples of why this is complete and utter bullshit, but I would fill about 8 more posts! If anything, Sarah's player 2 outfit is worse, but there not censoring that (and they damn well shouldn't anyway). The minds of Sega of America: "Oh wait, how offensive is it for Shun to turn red! We can't have any of that! But it's ok for people to buy the Sims, put a bunch of them in a room, start a fire; then delete all the exits in the room (ex. doors, windows), and watch em all burn alive." I guess that's socially acceptable /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif. But, an old man turning red from too much alcohol is just plain offensive (?). If Sega wants to do something useful, they should have changed Jeffry's pl. 2 outfit; now that needs some changin /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif!!

Hey man, don't mess with Jeff. Leave him the hell alone /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif. It's bad enough that two characters are being unnecessarily altered.

Maybe I am in the minority here, but I like the changes. P1 Vanessa is a horrible outfit. It doesn't suit her very well and gives her outrageous birthing hips. The hawaiian shirt for Brad I think is cool. Although, many will gripe that it makes him look more and more like Steve Fox from T4, but oh well. Changing some names in Quest while annoying may be better, since names like "Krzt666" may cause unnecessary bad press. I understand wanting nothing censored or altered in game localization, but at least they are leaving the gameplay intact and that is what most of us care about.

Come on dude! You know that pl. 2 outfit is horrible /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif. there isn't much sega can do to it that would actually make it worse /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. However, with all of his new arm/shin guards and gladiator type items in Evo; that stupid blue vest might actually fit in now.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion. It doesn't look bad at all to me. I see women dressed like that everytime I go to the gym...sometimes the clothes are in smaller portions /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif . That's why this censoring thing is so stupid to me.

If it were a male vale tudo practitioner, we'd expect to see at least one costume in mixed martial arts-style fighting clothes. Vanessa is wearing the female equivalent to those clothes. I don't know, it seems too stupid. Once I get used to something I don't like to see too many changes.

And you've seen the costume they're going to change it too? I haven't seen it yet.

And in response to the fool dissin' Jeff's second player costume... /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif It is much better in Evo because you've got the viking helmets and crud to make him look like a warrior, but I thought the costume wasn't that bad to begin with. Give Jeff a break...he's a fisherman. He's not going to be dressed in CK and Gucci /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

So. Doesn't mean that they have to make him colour blind. He almost dresses as bad as Chibita. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Last I heard the P1 outfit for Vanessa was just a Desert Camo version of P2.

Have you ever seen a female runner, or an actual female Vale Tudo practicioner? Very large, well-built legs. I was incredibly impressed when I first saw her design over a year ago because AM2 really did their homework on researching what a combat-oriented woman's figure would look like. And now they're going to cover it up. Sigh. (-_-;)

Different strokes for different folks. I find it to be exceptionally ugly. It's an outfit that I refuse to play with I find it so ugly.Yes, I have seen many MMA matches involving female contenders and while they do have solid upper leg muscles, most do not have the monstrosities that Vanessa has been drawn with. Her 2P outfit while covering up her thighs and hips does not look anywhere near as huge. It's as bad as early artistic works from Capcom involving Chun Li and Cammy. <shrug>

Censorship in videogames will always get me confused. Tecmo can use sexuality to advertise DOA ''they kick high" commercial. Girls with huge bouncing breast, dressed in skimpy outfits are OK but Vannessas 1p outfit and Shun turning red isn't. Whatever happened to the Sega who let Midway(or was it Acclaim), anyway, keep the blood in Mortal Kombat. Nintendo always had the reputation of being too strict when it came to censoring games but not sega.

Kids'll see worse on TV than they'll ever see in a VF game. The guy making those decisions at AM2 should get fired. I know that the things mentioned don't have nothing to do with gameplay, but it's the PRINCIPAL, first will censor this, then will censor that, oh and while we're at it let censor that too. Who loses ? We do. It's like Sega forgot that we grew up eversince the first VF. And what's the demographic for VF anyway ?

The whole thing is very stupid.

Replicant: I can't see why you hate her costume so much. It's not bad. And her hips aren't bad at all. But like you said; different strokes for different folks.

And the Shun being red thing...hmm...I wonder. Zerochan, did you ask this guy if they thought that Shun drinking would be offensive to children too? I ask because if I pick Shun and his bottle is gone or the drinking animation is gone, then that would be utter bullshit.

This whole ordeal pisses me off too. I just want the game the way it was designed. Looks like I'll end up getting the import version too. How the hell can little kids pull so much weight in the porting of a game that will be rated teen? Seriously...WTF?! /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I always thought the turning red was just more of a cultural thing. It's used symbollically here in Japan. I don't know of any Westerners who get all red-faced when they are drunk, so why they took it out confuses me. It actually is a decent, fast indicator of how dangerous your opponent's Shun can be.

Getting red faced after drinking is just as common in the states IMO. The reason I would *guess* they would take it out would be because it portrays achoholism in a positive fashion. The more Shun drinks, the more powerful he becomes and the redness in his face is the most noticeable item about his drinking.

ok time to toss in my two cents...

I think vanessa is a pretty masculine woman and maybe AM2 feels the need to change her costume because the design might be unappealing to a lot of westerners...yes yes VF4 sold 450k copies or whatever, but probably some marketing focus group or something said they didn't like her...who knows?

But doesn't the ESRB review the game before it's released ? Aren't they the ones who decide whether a game gets a T or an M rating. They're not as strict as people think, I'm pretty sure if DOA2 and 3 got a T rating then the japanese ver. of Evo. can get a T rating also.
Some games do push it to the extreme but certainly not Evo. Sega is just taking the initiative and auto-censoring the game without consulting the ESRB. Dumbasses without a clue.

As for Shun not turning red, if I remember correctly reading in the VF4 instructions that Shun "pretends" to drink to confuse his opponet. If Sega is going to pretend that Shun pretends to drink, then having him turn red would defeat the point. (Unless, of course, he is drinking non-alcoholic "turn me red" juice or something) /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I'm not saying you're wrong but why does he turn red in the jap. ver. then ? And if you're doing drunken style kung fu don't you suppose to get drunk ? I'm lost ! /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif
