Maybe I'm biased because I always play grapplers, but I'd like to see a pure BJJ fighter. He could have a takedown stance like Vane, except he has ways to get into guard and does triangle chokes and armbars out of it or something, and it'd work like Goh's Tsukami throws. He could even have throws and sabakis into his guard.

On a side note, you guys ever wonder why there's always pro-wrestlers in fighting games, but never Greco-Roman wrestlers?

Before any other style they should add Karate seriously. Why does SEGA keep ignoring KARATE? You'll find a karateka in most fighting games it's essential more being a japanese game.

An example:
<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7dXFiskLajk"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7dXFiskLajk" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

OSS! OSS! OSS! Funny shit. Karate 4 life!

Yeah, as cool as some of these extravagant styles and arts are that have been mentioned, for practical reasons, just add Karate or Kempo, then a full-on Boxer. Fin. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

How Bout a plain ol Street fighter? Sega won't add a boxer because Brad is to similar to that style. How Bout Chinese Boxing a La Jet Li? Bring Taka-rashi back since this game is now grapple based. Tae Kwon Do is still absence in VF. How about Pancak Silat? OR Russian Sambo (Vanessa is Vale Tudo)? Savate,Glimo ETC.

Honestly, I do not understand either. Street Fighter, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, King of Fighters, Tekken, and Dead or Alive have numerous karateka, but I find Sega inexcusable for them not adding one. By the way, great video of a karate game. That game has a huge reference on kyokushin, the karate style that I practice.

What would you like to see in next VF?

What would you like to see in next Virtua Fighter game? I would like to see even more deeper character customization possibilitys, like chancing your character´s height and weight! A little more height could do some good for that midget El Blaze...What are your thoughts?

i kinda agee that vf should have a karate based character, i also want taka back on the roster, and they should add a piguazhang practitioner/master a perfect rival for akira's bajiquan/hakyoukuken, there's a clear demontration of piguazhang in shenmue 2;when you battle eileen eidelweis.... that is impressive on my opinion

Probably a more extensive groundwork system. Elimination of float combos. Tone down fuzzy guard and other option selects, make them harder to execute too.

Fixed that for ya /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Agree about the ground fighting though - how would that work, i.e. what's the rock-paper-scissors?
strike > submission > guard > strike

The only UFC-style game I played was ages ago, and it basically sucked.

Its very hard to make a x > y > z > w game, esp with fighting.
Striking is not always going to beat a submission and often sets up as submission...but conversely a strike can make it easier to get out of a submission. Guard position leads to subs, being on top makes it easier to hit harder but has much fewer submissions. In a fight, you often have to use strikes to set up a take down...but striking provides opportunities for a shot. I think the point I am trying to make is that a real fight simulator is very hard to implement because of the hundreds of variables.
That being said, I would like to see more flow combos from stuns and less air combos and a more extensive ground work system.

Re: Char and fighting style you want for a future

I'm not talking about making it a realistic ground fighting simulator, i'm just talking about how vf's basic

strike > throw > guard > strike

(which I think works pretty well, or at least used to work pretty well) translates to the ground.

If you're talking realism, an even bigger problem is that only 2 or 3 of the characters' styles (vane, goh, jeff, maybe wolf or jacky) should have any concept of ground fighting at all.

yeah something like that, also make specific high-reward grabs for predicting what direction they're going to roll on oki, make more stuff untechable too

I still think the focus on option select defense is maybe a little much, but maybe I'm just crazy and want an unreasonable amount of yomi in the game.

yeah but if you consider that like 99% of real fights go to the ground then they're all going to need to address ground fighting at some point if you're into a no holds barred style competition like the VF tournament supposedly is

god I'm such a fanboy

After watching "Mr. Kim vs Mr. Kim vs Mr. Kim" i was amazed by Taekkyon i love the way they "dance" like Capoeira which i also would love to see since we don't have any non-asian martial art except from Pankration and Wrestling.

<u>AM2 and SEGA PLEASE READ, I KNOW YOU GUYS TROLL THESE BOARDS!
</u>

<span style='font-size: 17pt'>The back story for my boxer idea: </span>

Name: Hurricane Jones
Nationality: African American
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 225 lbs

Hurricane Jones is an ex-world champion boxer who one day finds himself banned from professional boxing for life. His notorious dirty fighting and extremely violent spirit eventually lead Hurricane to actually killing his last opponent in the ring (a la Rocky 4.) However, no matter what he does, Hurricane can't deny his incredible desire to fight, hurt others (he would be a bad guy a la Balrog) and taste the thrill of victory in combat again. Because he is banned from boxing forever, but has to quench his thirst for blood, he decides to join the J6 fighting tournament to feed his brutal appetites.

His moves would be centered around boxing, but a style that would obviously be considered very dirty if it were done in a pro boxing ring but will work nicely for the no holds barred combat of the World Fighting Tournament...

He would use:

-Head-butts (dirty boxer's specialty)
-Elbows
-Knees
-Low blows (of course)
-Holding and rabbit punches (a throw maybe)
-Maybe some low, short range kicks but no real high or long-range kicks at all, maybe no kicks at all and just knees (maybe stepping on his opponents feet so they can't move etc...)

The /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif button would provide his faster, jab-like techniques and lighter, quick attacks (what if he was huge but had a 10f standing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif because he's so good at punching?)

The /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif button would generally control his more powerful attacks whether they are power-punches like hooks and uppercuts. Or the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif button could control his knees as he could have a relatively wide variety of knees because he can't do kick class attacks at all. This would also focus him much more around close range fighting, so he would have almost exclusively short-range attacks but many of them would have evasive properties.

His power punches could always be /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif attacks or something along those lines and free up /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif to just do his very wide variety of knees. (Hurricane Jones will be a knee attack master because he can't really kick at all. He'll have standing knees, jumping knees, dashing knees and such so he isn't too, too short ranged and I really want the knees have extremely varied uses.

Then add in his head-butts and elbows, some cool throws where he just brutally pounds the opponents face with different, boxing punching combos.

The key will be that he can't slip and dodge like Brad but the slips and dodges will be built into the moves. So your yomi will be using the right attack to avoid the attack you think they will throw. I'm thinking about moves with properties like Lion's 4PP that avoids high attacks from the first frame, or a punch where he lunges in lifting his front leg to avoid low attacks (Vanessa 1P?) or the moves could be even more specific with the attacks they avoid...

Basically he would have a faster, elusive style that is powerful in close and tougher to attack with from longer ranges. I'm not saying his range game has to be overly nerfed, but weakened a little. Maybe he has some long range crosses and stuff but they are high attacks that can be ducked or are very linear etc, basically more easy to evade so he can't play the range game too, too well...

<u>Summary:</u> He's a brutal American boxer with incredible talent but a overwhelming penchant for dirty fighting.

She(Vanessa) is not a sambo fighter. Soviet sambo '70 IS NOT Vale Tudo:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vale_tudo

VF really need Soviet SAMBO'70, which is a main fightihg style in Russian Spetsnaz!
Remember Fedor Yemelyanenko=)

Then that means that Sega would have to remove Brad Slipping techniques with something different and give it to him. They will do this because they took Vanessa Muay Thai stance because Brad came in Evo.
AS far as Russian Sambo go. Bayman is the Best Fighter i ever seen with that style so i would'nt mind seeing a character with that style.

If Jeffy is supposed to use Pancratium which is basically Roman wrestling then VF should have a Rival character that is MMA all the way like Ken Shamrock becaue he use locks. To do this use have to Take/change a lot of moves from other fighters for his use. I would'nt Mind seeing a Bolo Yeung type character lol!

I just want to see a Street Fighter named Pookie. He can sport a hoody and have retarded attitude but be white and speak with a Aussie accent. When he wins he sports gangsta poses and throws up
signs. When he fights girls he always enters the match doing booty
slap signals.

8th Mile mate!
