I didn't realize all that stuff you can do after entering the mystical door. The enemies there are pretty tough so I just ran all the way to the boss after a few attempts lol. Luckily it was one of the easiest boss's I've ever fought so far.

if the dragon is getting you, just use the stairs to the right of the skeletons, go downstairs & the fire will miss you. Also, while you're down there, do down one more flight & kick the ladder down, shortcut to Undead Burg

I'm embarrassed to have been terrified by him, easiest boss in the game by far.

    Just beat the Gaping Dragon.

Some Cloud wannabe mashing with the biggest sword he can find and get beasted by my Rapier. Free 100% Criticals on parry and can block and stab at the same time.

Also caught him when he rolled away and got a free backstab.

Yeah it's great that you're loving the game and that, but no need to diss halo!

Felt like more of a statement directed towards a very specific group of Halo players, sure he didn't mention how awful the games are [IMG]

Yeah ok, but why the constipated face? It sounded like he was dissing people that played the game like there's something wrong with the game itself. To put it shortly, I play halo and I'm not a weakass. And I'd like to think the game is for me as well. No discrimination plz.

Lol dude i wasn't talking of ppl who play halo, just that generation of gamers who judge every single game by if they have multiplayer and deathmatch in all the games they play. You know, the casual players who despise a challenege and spew ignorant crap about something they have difficulty with. My fellow NES generation gamers know what i speak of. No offense to you lol

How to Easily Beat Havel the Rock (Undead Burg)

How to Easily Beat Havel the Rock (Undead Burg)

Location: There is a locked door as you enter Taurus Demon Tower (Undead Burg area) that you can open early with the Master Key. Down the stairs, at the very bottom of the tower, you can find Havel. The door he guards leads outside to Darkroot Basin and the Hydra boss.

Item drop: He drops Havel's Ring when defeated which in turn greatly boosts your Equip Load. This is ultra helpful in the game as you hardly have to worry anymore about your equipment's weight and your movement speed.

Melee strategy: You enter the tower through a relatively narrow entrance. Go down to Havel and lure him back to that entrance. Be sure to have a 100 % block shield, and let Havel do his full-out swings at you. Make sure he misses, then attack back with your Strong Attack (RT). Due to the slim entrance his club-like weapon will lose its effectiveness as it's ricocheting from the walls whenever he tried to swing at you. Rinse and repeat for a while until he's dead. Make sure to strike only when he has swung and you have blocked successfully.

Absolutely love the game. The dread, the open world, the characters and depth, the monsters, the items. I couldn't be happier with the it, and I'm taking my sweet time playing it. I used to get so pissed in Demon's Souls when I would die... but here, it just feels right. 40,000 souls down the drain? That's just the way it goes sometimes!! :'D

I'm gonna be playing this game for a long time. I'm avoiding the wiki like a plague and reading as little as I can for the time being. Gonna complete the game before I start really digging in, cuz right now it's just hardcore exploring and adventuring, a gaming experience that is truly unique... and as great as Demon's Souls was it really doesn't touch this.

I'm a gamer that plays for the experience. Won't play a horror game unless I'm alone, with the lights off, and the volume cranked, cuz I'm never going to experience that primal fear the game was designed for if I don't magnify it the first time around. Dark Souls is rich with experience. The ambient light and sound, the variety of characters and their motives, the details in the areas, and I am soaking it up as slowly and thoroughly as I can.

Can't say enough how much I'm fucking loving this game.

Hmm, when I get to the last part of the game I think I'm going to brutally murder every npc there is for their goody's. Their cries I will not hear, their sorrow I will dismiss; the goods I want.

Re: How to Easily Beat Havel the Rock (Undead Burg)

Pretty much the same for me, though i'm not quite experiencing the dread as bad as I did with Demon's Souls. I've avoided the wiki mostly too, only read up on the system changes, wish I played the previous game this way too [IMG]

The open world seems to add a lot to the game, it gives a greater sense of scale and need for exploration than the previous game did.

One thing I am dissapointed with is the bosses, hardly any have gave me trouble so far. The majority i've done first try and i've not died no more than twice on the others. Seems strange when I spent months getting raped by Flamelurker in the first game.

I didn't die on flamelurker even once. I died like a pussy on all others though [IMG] All of it is because I attacked flame with spells and he got stuck somewhere. It was like a gift [IMG]

Yeah I read he can get stuck pretty easily, never worked that way for me though [IMG]

NG++ it wasn't so bad, cause I just cast Water Veil and raped him. That first time though was a nightmare.
