i was under the impression that most stuns gave only the option to parry

This, more recovery on counters, and I'd say some alteration to the current movement/evasion system a little bit and I'd agree. DoA is really close to being a great game. Here's to hoping with Itageki off the squad, they'll get things right. But I'm afraid they're gonna go for the easy buck and make this super 'casual'.

Itagaki is the only reason the game was half decent in the first place guys.

Really? I just remember the changes he made post-production on 4 that made me think dood was responsible for the whackyness.
Tecmo still has the rights to the series.

DOA and VF are the closest cousins in fighting games. They are my two favourite fighting games, and the DOA series is much misunderstood and incorrectly maligned. It is an excellent game with great depth, balance and dynamics. Even with its creator Itagaki now working on other projects I am confident the team left at Team Ninja know well how to advance their game.

DOA4 really only needed a few more tweaks to certain characters maybe in a patch to keep it fresh.

    Can't wait for this.

i used to like doa a lot, thats the game i played on the DC after VF3 and the reason i got an xbox at launch instead of a ps2,

but after playing vf for the past 3 years its hard to go back to doa as it is. it seems to me that itagaki meant to make the game accessible to newcomers and to level the play field, but I miss the vf system too much when i play it. if they keep everything as it is, and give more options to struggle out of stuns, then it could be a good alternative (for ME!), otherwise as it is its just a fun game not to take too seriously.

Brad Wong just needs to stop stealing moves from Shun Di, that's all I'm saying...

I really like DOA4 but to me it was all fun and only that. I sold DOA4 after I got into VF5 but I am not sure if I will ever get DOA5 if it is made. I found DOA to have a high fun factor to it even though the gameplay never compared to VF.

nvm. doa5 might come out soon. i just went to video game store in japan n i found new doa extreme series on psp. i think it came out only couple months ago, so doa5 is very possible to come out on consoles...

You make it sound like VF puts off casual players because of its system.

All I have to say is that some of the best DOA players are chicks iirc.

That says it all. Reversal button = the wackness...

    DOA needs to get deeper.

I can appreciate doa system, instead of evade they have holds, but in VF you dont have to evade all the time to avoid damage, while in DOA once you are stunned thats it, either you perform a hold and you guess right, get countered, or plain accept to get hit. just remove the long-ass unstrugglable stuns and its perfect.

seidon, maybe i havent played doa for a long time, but i remember getting frustrated by the continuous stuns, that was really the main issue.

edit: if there is a way to avoid being stunned, let me know.

seidon, are you seriusly telling me that you somehow struggle out of stun in doa? can you point me to a high quality match where instead of holding, they struggle? cause im watching, and all i see is stuns and holds...

let me know if i need to link a vid, so you can see what im talking about.
