Oh man. They really need to stop with this softcore porn focus. I know DOA has always had this but seriously come on, guys. It's 2013. This sh*t doesn't fly anymore. Or if they are going to do this then where's the pervy pics of the gents? And people wonder why gaming, and fighting gaming in particular, has a certain reputation...

I think most of the players just see it as a bit of fun really and it's not the main point of the game (there's the volleyball/beach game for that....). Or at least that's my view on it. There are lots of images of topless men in DoA... just that the girls get more attention... (Ein's topless, chain with red trousers was my favourite costume in DoA2).

 

Swimsuits are Japan only. Probably would get them if they were available, since they're better than the other swim packs.

I may regret it, but I'm gonna pick this game up when it's out. Jacky and Rachel are the main reasons. Just hope that there's more positives than negatives this time around.

 

I've started to play DoA5 again... Funnily enough, VF has stopped me from always trying to attack but to look at attack patterns instead. The downside is I'm trying to evade by tapping 2/8 which is the worse thing cause I end up just standing there to get smacked in the face. Also my Jean combo's keep coming out when my character doesn't even have those moves. Guess the bikini isn't enough for my reactions to remember it's a different game...

 

We should get some matches in DOA5U Rodnutz.

It's things like this that I just don't understand how someone finds joy in doing it over and over especially when they know it's broken. This is not specific to DOA, but in general to any fighting game.

I put money on it that the person doing this infinite thinks this is acceptable. Their excuse would be something like don't get hit I bet or you can pick those characters too. Any honorable player who knows something is broken would not do the loop over and over till you are dead. I'd say two to three times at most!

 

Hopefully Team Ninja is as quick to patch this out as they were to patch out the Mila infinite from vanilla...

Infinites are bland though.

 

If they do patch it out, it won't be the move itself because in order to fix the move in tag they'd have to fix it in singles.

I'd honestly expect them to "patch" the tag mode to have the same gravity as singles. Of course, that's inconsistent with the rest of the series, but the rest of the series didn't have juggles like this in singles. Also, there's the concern with the tag combo challenges being affected if they do.

 

So awesome! I wish Sega did stuff like this.

I was just over at FSD and saw this. Watching it now, but I really wish the VF chars were going up against the DOA cast. Just from watching the first match it seems to me that although these are skilled players they are playing DOA5U VF style since it's a VF vs VF matchup. You can see how they are playing that ' it's my turn... ok now it's your turn ' style of play. This sort of play style IMO does not exist in the world of DOA. In most cases no one gives that much respect to wait, let you attack, wait, let you attack. And then there are some DOA chars that it's just best to not wait. Just attack, attack, attack, attack, attack because there mixup / stun game is just so good that all they need is to just get a solid offense rolling.

Anyway I will take some Jacky notes, but really hope they do this again the other way around.

 

I know you said "IMO", but IMO that is how you play DOA, you just have to focus a lot on your environment opportunities as well. (Not saying you don't focus on ring position in VF).

Again Rod, you have to play us in some offline matches, sucks you couldn't meet up in NJ with me and the crew. You can't weigh this game on its online play methods, because frankly the online isn't good netcode.

 

Well I finally got the game recently. Its fun though I still have trouble against attack happy opponents XP. So far i'm still maining Helena like in the previous games though I'm thinking about trying to main someone else. Cant decide whether to stick with her or go with Lisa, Bayman, or Momiji.

 

Don't go with Momiji..... I hate mirror matches. Hahaha only kidding - love her Halloween costume.

 

What type of playstyle do you prefer in fighting games?

@Sorwah: I dont exactly have a prefernce in playstyles. Or at least I didnt in the past. I usually just go by how a character looks and try them out. If I like them, i stick with them.
Idk if it helps, but my mains in my other 3d fighters are Aoi (VF), Anna (tekken), and Setsuka/Alpha Pat (soul calibur). The only things I notice they have in common (at least Aoi and Anna) is that they have cancels/special stances to help with mind games and pressure. Also defensive tools with sabakis and reversals.
