This really is not CG, I don't know what up with people's eyes on this matter. The gameplay that's been shown thus far looks about as pretty at the two pictures here, so it's not a stretch to say this is in-game footage.

Team Ninja are great at graphics, they've been pushing hardware beyond what we thought was possible for a long time now. Those guys can make those polygons work it.

You know what, I sometimes wondered if many people here played no other game beside VF5 in the 4-5 years.

Have you looked at Uncharted? Battlefield 3? Or any other AAA games in the past a few years? Compared to these games most Japanese games look crap, and VF5 looks almost like last gen dog crap. (Sure Tekken looks even worse, but even Tekken players concede to that point.) The DOA5 screenshots, while it looks a generation ahead of VF5, still looks poor compared to the latest Western games, and no reason to suspect that it's not in-game.

Man, I'm still blown away by the graphics of Metal Gear Solid 3.

I still think VF5 is the fighting game with best graphics. At least when it comes to character models (or most of them).

Like I said earlier guys it's not being rendered on xbox/ps3 hardware. It's still early on so they probably haven't started getting it to run on the PS3/360.

Wait till release and if it still looks as good as those pics i'll eat my own face.

EDIT: @Hyunster - Yeah I play a lot of recent games and VF5 looks nowhere near bad compared to anything on PS3/360. Still looks good to me, especially when I consider it's a 6 year old game.

I give up if you guys really think VF5 is anywhere near actually looking good these days. I thought VF5 looked unexceptional even at the very first moment I saw the game on an HD TV. The only thing VF has is that it uses a lot of _unnaturally_ shiny surfaces on its characters and costumes.(or specular shader in technical terms.) Considering that VF never in history had more than two characters on screen at once, there is hardly anything technically impressive.

Only one I could think of that i'd consider more technically impressive than VF5 and that's only concerning the graphics, and it's only marginally better too.

Also don't forget that in VF5, when u fight in water or if it is raining, the characters' outfits gets soaked. And when I first saw in game footage of Final Showdown, the graphics are improved.

I've never noticed that, I'll have to look for it.

If you fall off the raft in Shun's stage you get wet the next round. I was blown away the first time I noticed this effect. It'd be nice if you started dripping on the floor. Alas, things for VF6 to improve on.

It's the lighting from the DOA5 screenshot which is suspicious. Not the polygon or anything else that you are wondering. Lighting similar to that would be GT5/Forza 4 car model viewer. Lighting can add significant realism.

Sorry, language barrier. Feck already said what I tried to say:

    ps.
Actually the clothes get soaked whenever a character falls down, even on a dry stage. [IMG]

pps. I dont think VF5 looks as impressive anymore, but I havent really seen anything thats more impressive than it really. The current consoles simply cant produce any better graphics. I recently got myself a full hd monitor, and for example arkham city doesnt look any better really than vf5 imo. Then again Im not a graphics nut, so I may end up using wrong kind of terminology for which I apologize.

Serious? What stage is this. you are a Killjoy.. I tried to get past it thinking you just like to hear yourself talk but now im convinced. You just always try to chime in with something to correct someone.

AS far as the Video is concerned. a Bit of CG enhancements is thrown in there along with great editing. Akira's long combo at the take place at 2 different parts of the ring. Its evident when she hits her back on the lower gate then end up rolling off the stage.

Hey Tricky you get even when you hit the floor from the water that splashes up. Since jacky stage has drizzle you get soaked when you fall in a puddle.... VF 4 started this.. it was the first game i actually seen leave snow trails (Followed by DOA3.).

Re: Dead or Alive 5 coming

They implemented this in DOA3.1, and people who managed to play this game have been begging TN to bring this feature back, in conjunction with frame advantage moves, unholdable setups, and a slew of other features that only seemed to be in this version of DOA...

TN then ended up saying the sidestep feature was a glitch, but from what I saw and played, it was the best glitch ever imo-- aside from the Juggernaut glitch in MvC2...

People knock the skin on VF5 and it wasn't until I saw a post NFL game interview on a HDTV and was like "Holy shit, that player and interviewer have VF5 skin!"

This game still holds up but the age in the animation is showing. Thankfully FS fixes this.

We played at Northwest Majors 3 in the casuals area. Two Tekken players set up their game so we had both games running sided by side. It was a Paul mirror match where one of the Paul's was shirtless. I thought they were playing TTT HD but it was Tekken 6(forgot customizations weren't in TTT). VF character models are still boss. The backgrounds are lacking, but what other game do you know where "EXCITEMENT AND INVIGORATION ARE OFFERED TO ALL MEN!"
    TTT2 looks nice, though!

ON TOPIC: Akira looks really nice and so does Kasumi. This game is on the "sorta" radar.

I'm a Graphics Whore God, so DOA while looking spectacular, always left me wanting more, contorl wise. Hope this game delivers!

I've never been a fan of DOA. To my knowledge, I have played every iteration of the game but always felt it was a step behind its 3-D fighting game contemporaries, like VF and Tekken. Also, not a huge fan of the "reversal button"; VF implements reversal and reversal-like moves so much more skillfully it's not even close. IMHO, VF does advanced defense better than any other fighting game series out there. Defense and advanced defense really matter in VF snd are central to many of the character's game (Aoi, Goh, etc)...
