The only unique combat style (for DOA5) VF characters needed to be in the game are missing.
    Aoi,Vanessa,Eileen,Jeffry and maybe Wolf.
Too many similar Chinese styles and ninjas :ninja:lol.Still one of my best and loved FGs.
Getting Ultimate next week for 32 Euros.Wonder what the US price is...

I know Sarah is OP, but Sarah has to be creative to get that OP. People just press buttons with Rachel and there isn't much you can do to cut in and hence lies the problem with DOA's balance issue in my opinion. Sure you can side step, but mad shit that looks straight as hell tracks.

When a character is always at -2 or -3, but has crush moves to stop even your fastest input of just a punch it's just whatever. At that point I'm like I'll just sit here and hold block till you get tired. But gasp she has PP*throw which I can't understand why she needs this. You throw, get the surprise exchange, take guarantee damage and just repeat again. It's like a never ending loop.

And then to top it off if you happen to get away she just throws out many random punches or kicks that seem to crush your moves (at least with Jacky). If you happen to block something again right back in the -2 or - 3 random guessing game.

Lastly if she downs you and gets the down attack, punts you away which forces you to rise and here comes another OP loop setup. Is she going to throw me in the air for her rebounce combo to down attack punt kick again and repeat again or is she going to go for a stagger, etc before she throws and puts you in said loop again. For now the character is just mindless lol.

Ever since DOA4 I've always wished they had something similar to Tekken where you could just play possum if you didn't want to get up. You eat a ground attack, but you can just stay down to add variation to your get up patterns.

Anyway still having mad fun despite my struggles. I'm sure the game will get some sort of rebalance patch in a couple of months. I can only hope Jacky gets a small buff because I don't plan on learning anyone else. I'm sure I could use Kokoro and do much better, but since I don't really care to be a top player I gotta rep VFDC.

I'll try to save and up a vid when I get time.

@kingo There doesn't seem to be any secret characters at this time.

@Rodnutz you're not the only one who feels Alpha and Rachel are OP.

There's a thread discussion on banning Alpha from tournament play (before the game came out).

I think Rachel might be up for being banned at TFC as well but both characters' fates haven't been decided.

@Rodnutz Well I know who I'll be using prob if I do pick this game. If I do pick this up in the F2P model, I'll prob play the most broken OP char in the game.

    Is Sarah still broken?

Since I'm more comfortable with my VF play, and its less likely that DoA Sarah will screw that up, I'm gonna main her now.

@Tricky - unless you have a PS3 you won't be playing anything. Core Fighter is PSN only at the moment.

@BLACKSTAR - from what I heard she might be better.

Game is hella fun! Just wish frame advantage made more sense. I'm tired of perfectly blocking 3 to 5/6 hit strings only to have my elbow or move X stuffed by the attacker who just won't stop pressing buttons.

Anyway I'm not discouraged so gonna keep trying. Just have to find a way jacky can deal with shit.

    This, 100%.

Think I'm gonna enter this game at TFC (and get blown up, like at Final Round :3 ).

Also, I hope someone starts a "VF player's perspective on DOA5U" thread at FSD

Hmmm...I think I'm going to try out the F2P version on PSN. If the fighting system doesn't piss me off too much, I might try to get back into it. Any game with Sarah in it is worth a go for me

Jacky's flip kick is chargeable and his launcher.

@Tricky since you play VF2, you should be good to go, since that's what DOA is largely based off, but with its own twists.

Think I'm gonna hold off a little bit longer, unless I get a PS3, since updating for DLC is a pain for me since I don't have wifi for my 360. So I might just wait it out for a "complete" version since there is talk about characters added for the arcade version.

Haven't watch these vids yet, but Denkai stopped by to check out the game and he was teaching me some Jacky stuff. I retract my previous statement. He just might not be ass lol. It's a little hard to cut in, but if you can get an offense going man he is good.

I'm tired now, but gonna hit up that dojo mode tomorrow afternoon to revamp my game.

@steelbaz I'll check it out if the F2P model comes to xbox. That's how I was planning on experiencing the game.

@Rodnutz Yo I'm going to need to swing by your crib and check the game out man! Maybe this weekend.

@Femto DOA doesn't feel anything like VF2 anymore though. Kinda like how VF5 doesn't feel like VF2 anymore.

VF5 always felt like 3, but a lot of things in DOA feel like VF2, namely no teachable command grabs, but I'm probably missing the forest for the trees...

I'm thinking PS3 might be THE platform withis game seeing as how the F2P demo is only on the PS3? I know the guys I game with don't like it, but double flip kicks us almost too good to pass up.

Also, there's a ton of Shenmue fans at FSD.

Had a chance to play with the F2P version last night for a bit. I'm not sure what Team Ninja did, but the game feels a whole lot better to me now. Online is still online (a little better with the connection, but still some work needed).

The inclusion of the tutorial is a god-send for me. Reminds me of the legendary tutorial that was in VF4Evo.

I think I'll pick this up next week...
