Ahh, sorry. I didn't call out the right move. I'm just used to calling [2][6]+[P],[P] his single palm. Not [4][6][P]. ^-^

I enjoy this game a lot. I really do. But I swear, this game is a button mashers dream, lol.

On another note. I've been using Akira lately and taking a break from Kokoro for a minute just to spice it up a little. I'm using him cause I basically know how to do his moves already, just not his DoA combos. But getting a CH elbow into [P], double palm or DLC can get ya some decent damage. His [4][6] throw gets ridiculous damage on counter.

But man, it's a nightmare using him here too, lol. It seems like everyone's moves will beat his if they clash. [P][K] isn't a natural combo, lots of moves on block push you back far enough to where you can't punish with [P], so their moves will beat yours cause even though you were at adv. and they're abaring, your move will just whiff and they hit you on recovery. Block stuns don't seem to be very long at all. So if you want to punish with an elbow, you have to be quick on the draw to get your CH or you'll be beaten by abare/or the many moves that have some wild evasive properties that can go under mids, or spin around your move. I think those DMPK type moves will beat ya though no matter how fast you reacted.

Being able to do his knee helps a TON. People will hardly ever do the mid kick counter, so you can bust a couple/few knees into whatever. Only problem is, you gotta hit em first with something that will stun them.

New patch is terrible, the game is a joke now. Had to drop this like DOA5 after those horrendous patches. They release the game, then patch it to please a cry baby fan base with zero fundamentals, now the game is totally different from it's original state. Team Ninja should stick with action games because they have no idea what the fuck they're doing with fighters. Really pathetic they can't even get the frame data in their own game right. They made changes irrelevant to balance "to force players to play differently and use different, larger frame, less guaranteed moves". Really shit devs.

If that's all true, perhaps some of the 'floating voters' in the 3D world, will drift back to VF now. Looking back to when FS came out, there were loads of DOA players on here, some even laying out the combo threads. Never really saw any of them play the game much though. Sounds like you need a lot of patience to be a long term DOA player/fan these days. Tough break.

    That's cool bro-No worries! ;)

Yes-You are right...Unfortunately, abare can get you pretty far in this game...and I know that frustration all too well when playing Akira there...In general, when coming from VF to DOA, exact frame advantage/disadvantage and everything else you are familiar with is seemingly thrown out of the window in DOA...There are lots of weird things in the game that will make you go: "WTF was that?", "lolwut?" and whatnot.

That said, it is unlike VF in that regard, and that feeling of awkwardness will go on as long as you keep playing...It's just the way that DOA is. Still, even with all the oddities, the 5 series is a great step forward in making DOA a good fighter....With much work to be done of course.

Going back to Akira, there's one thing that I had to learn the hard way: Don't play him like it is VF! Those were my own and what are sounding like the core of your own frustrations when using him in DOA...Contrary to what you may have seen/experienced, Akira can be a beast in this system and he has the tools to win. You just have to play him DOA-style, which will be very different from what you are used to doing here in VF...To give an example, SPoD actually has a use in DOA, as it sets up a nice pseudo-force-tech via with[3_][3][P][+][K].

    Here's a vid he dropped recently-Dat musica:

As for the talk about the 1.04 patch and all...I can see why some players would be really PO'ed with TN over things now, and I'm not too happy with the Kokoro changes myself-Although some good things did come from it...

Yet, Akira came out really well, so I'm good. lol

Overall, the reception to the changes hasn't been the warmest, but it hasn't been bad enough to the point where people would be leaving the game and going to VF...I don't think the ones that have played VF and aren't playing it now, or haven't played it, will be starting now because of this...The game is still going strong, awaiting a new character and receiving continued support from TN! Plus-New swimsuits galore! lol

Pretty awesome that we're getting a new character aside from Marie...Unfortunately, the evidence behind the character's identity is leaning heavily towards Kasumi Clone #986364827... :/

Anyways, here's some cool vids from FSD:

Dat Pai, hahahah, still makes me  every time I see her in action outside of VF. Maybe this gen now with the new consoles, we will finally see the 3D mash-up megamix some fans have been clamouring for since the '90s. Looking at Japan these days... anything can happen!

So I picked up the reg. DOA5 for for a couple bucks. I was looking around to see if there is a decent community behind it. I can't seem to find anything relevant. Is there still an online community behind DOA? Does it seem to be dwindling? Am I just dumb and looking in the wrong places (i.e. doaworld.com)?

Just picked Ultimate up, this will be the first doa ive played since 2 on DC. I'm a bit skeptical so far of the system, as it seems to encourage mashing. But im only half way through training.

I said it before, and I'll say it again. Game is fun, but it's a button mashers dream. Especially online. So many moves that evades/go under attacks. And the push back on block is weird cause it's hard to punish sometimes cause they're too far away to hit em. They mash and hit YOU cause your attack whiffed.. Count that with the fact you can't block after getting hit by 95% of the moves, and yea... Most peoples reaction to getting hit is to strike back instantly, most people will keep going after you block their string.

Game is super reliant on the hold system. But getting thrown while holding does crazy damage. So it's not safe to throw em out so much. Stagger escape is best bet. Though I feel like I'm spinning my stick for half the match, lol.

And if you're gonna use Akira, good luck. He's nasty, but it seems like everybody's moves always beat out his when they clash. I still rock wit em. I still have fun with the game, but it can be frustrating.

I feel like any game that puts limits on blocking or nerfs blocking is not going to work for me. That's what put me off this latest DOA. Soul Edge had the same issue.

Yea. I mean I like the game, it has cool characters with really cool move list and stages. Just that being forced to have to guess counter moves because you got hit with a low, mid string can be agitating sometimes. Since it nerfs your ability to block, like you said.

But that's DoA though I guess.. Sometimes them holds/counters can do some crazy damage too.

I previously read a threads that stated that team ninja was interested in making a legit VF v. Doa game. Let me just be the first (maybe) to say that a blaze mariposa tag duo would be a dream come true.
P.s. the only adjustment I a dealing with on doa is the relative inability to sidestep attacks and having to master the "catch/grab" technique.

Well, I'd hope it leans more towards VF's fighting system. Some of those characters could transition well. Just not the characters that can disappear, lol. Hitomi and Lei Fang come to mind of characters who could leap over.

With the VF characters they have in DoA already though. I'm thinking people would have to use em in DoA's fighting system though. Aoi wouldn't be too unique since everyone can count everything in that game.

One thing that blew my mind when playing DoA the other day. I was fighting a Sarah with Akira. Do you know. This chick. Sabaki'd my one fram knee with her [P]+[K]. Twice. So I know I wasn't trippin. I think that move sabaki's instantly too. Not sure though.

this would definitely give am2 a reason to try out a tag system with VF overall. though cutting the roster might be tricky for VF since everyone in the roster is DRAMATICALLY different.

By courtesy of FSD and SRK, it looks like we'll be getting a brand new character in Marie Rose for console on March 25th and the Arcade-Version will be getting a new character as well this spring...The rumored Kasumi-Clone from DOA5's ending is confirmed! Say hello to Kasumi Alpha Phase-4!:
