    Yes, OP Sarah got buffs though, I made my friend never wanna touch offline DOA again with Super Sarah!

    Other than that all the other chars I played and tons of other characters all got tremendous nerfs. Marie will have to be nerfed too cause FSD crying, her time being viable is limited, so play her before the next patch!!

    I see Genfu is like the Jean of DOA. The abuse of 1 move got silly pretty fast. While I don't play much anymore I still think DOA5U could be a really good game even more so than FS.

    I seriously wish TN would consider toning down the stun game, adjust some frames to eliminate spamming and reward defensive type players. Adding a proper punishment system wouldn't hurt either. Getting just a throw punish from blocking some of these lightning fast strings that can lead to mega BS or frame traps is kind of disappointing.


    Anyway I enjoyed the vids. Love me some SlyBass!

    Also, I'm in total agreement with you man, DOA has alot of potential and 5/5U has brought it a long way...but, it still does have a ways to go.

    As you mentioned, the stun game really needs to be toned down...Or I say even altered to only have VF-style crumples/stuns...and yeah, just having to settle with throw punishment most of the time isn't that great. Although, I will say that I love HCT, because whenever you land one(Especially Akira's 46T) it's like:

    As for holds, I would like to see them decrease the active-frame window significantly, as it's pretty silly right now. Especially seeing as how you can quickly execute another one right afterwards...Then again, I guess that's the whole point of HCT.

    The game doesn't have to do anything to mimic VF or satisfy VF players. What it needs to do is simply have mechanics that makes sense. For example the counter window thing you mentioned.

    Like Genfu for example if he is gonna have a special counter that's damn near the equivalent of Aoi's YY stance then at least make the recovery window longer. It's so good it's annoying because 90% of the time when someone is going to poke it's with a punch or elbow. So after all his mashing and super good moves that have insane evasive properties you get a small window where you can sneak something in and he throws out his special counter and then you are like FUCK FUCK FUCK. So you try a launcher next time but he decides to keep mashing and it's FUCK FUCK FUCK again. So you decide to wait for the counter... Oh there it goes so you use a delayed attack.... FUCK FUCK FUCK it gets grabbed anyway. So you try to delay longer.... Oops missed your chance he mashes you get CH lol Hitomi and Leifang has this same type of BS.

    Exactly why I gave up on the game.

    I didn't feel there was enough reward for properly defending some of the massive BS in this game. Defending against those ninjas, and all the other ridiculously quick strings and all I get is a throw punish?

    Yet, if I slip and let just one hit of that string get me, I'm now in that awful stun system. It was just mind boggling to me.

    I appreciate that it's a fun game, I just can't take it seriously...

    They really need to go back and take a look at 3.1 because that game was perfect.

    Everything about it made sense and there was no mashing or you would get blown up.

    Sadly in DOA4 Itagaki thought by making the game faster and making it a priority to press buttons more things would be " funner ".


    Boy was he right.... *rolls eyes*

    I don't know much about it, but I've been hearing a lot about 3.1, how good things were..and how things have changed for the worse since then..So I agree that they should definitely go back and check out that type of system.

    For what it's worth, 5/5U is still at least a step-forward away from 4...The fact that they are trying to do things to improve the gameplay is a good sign, though much work has yet to be done, as we all know.

    As for me, I have fun playing it and simply accept it for what it is right now...In hopes that things will continue to change for the better somewhere down the line...

    Another thing about it though, online in this game is totally different from offline...After going to some offline sessions, I've seen just how much of a difference there is with this game. Offline is SO much better! :)

    I think I need to give Akira another shot in DOA5U since I've pretty much given him up in FS. Since the commands for certain moves were so different I didn't want to get confused, but that's not the case anymore.

    Wonder who they'll be adding in the future. Doubt it's gonna be anybody that takes Kokoro's spot as my main, lol. But I'm kinda lookin for a secondary besides Akira. I'm kinda gon stop using him, even though my win rate is higher with him. Phase-4 seems coo, but just doesn't have that thing I'm looking for. There's already some cool characters on the roster. I just don't know who to invest some time into, yet.

    I always thought it was odd that the ratio for pad players were like, 97%. Whereas for every other fighter, stick players are what 97% of the people use.

    And I've already spoken my piece about this game in the last two pages, lol.

    Remember that DOA2 came out practically at the death bed of the arcade, so there wasn't much of a hardcore scene. Most of the scene played on controller with the Dreamcast/PS2, with most Hardcore FG players who would have a modded stick not even bothering with the series due to it's... well ya know. So the scene really came in around the DOA2U era after some startup in DOA3, where the Xbox didn't really have any arcade stick (that was usable) available since it was neither the Tournament system nor the Fighting Game system. Then, DOA4 was released on Xbox 360 as an exclusive before the fighting games started coming on the 360, so you had no business that thought demand was high enough to use Xbox 1 to Xbox 360 controller converters, and no arcade sticks besides the official DOA4 hori stick that had buttons soldered directly to the circuit board making it nigh impossible to replace with good parts.

    So yeah, 97% are controller users, and 70% of them are Xbox 360 controller users.
