Hey guys this is Nick from Arcade Hunters. I had heard about this thread from SpinmasterX over on Neo-Geo.com about this effort to help bring 5R to home consoles. I know my website doesn't have a lot of pull, but this week I'm planning on putting a link to this forum post to try to generate more fan reaction from my fans and hopefully Sega will hear from us and let them know that there's people outside of Japan that like Virtua Fighter. Thanks for your time and I hope everything goes well.

Surely Sugata and his countrymen want VF5R?

 

Just noticed there isn't any mention of this VF5R stuff on Neoempire. Someone should say something over there.

 

Hmn, anyone know if we are reaching the 500 mark?

 

This morning in the shout box, Mike said we are about 40% there. But, this is not counting the efforts Kamaage made on his site, which he said amounts to around 300 posts at this point.

 

Sugata did post, but his request was humorous and not something Sega would take seriously , so it got moved to this thread. At least he supported the effort, unlike some trolls that tried to derail the Kamaage thread and make it about them. VF5R isn't even a two year old game, unless you are stupid enough to consider the months it was in beta form and being location tested. Having your head up your ass must obscure your vision. The difference between beta and final must be hard to discern.
We've heard all the anti-VF5R arguments before, and they are just as worthless now as they were before. Save it. Follow, lead, or get out of the way .

Just a thought: what about asking a journalist guy from WCG if he could post news about this petition?
If this would be shown at wcg.com there might be several translations from regional wcg-sites. The German site uses lots of articles from wcg.com for example.

I'm not trying to derail anything. The thread was originally called "vf5R for console/other projects" when I posted on it. I know its hard to believe but sometimes people disagree with the general consensus and I dont think that really warrants childish antics like which you are doing.

Many people are soon to forget but I was the one who started the facebook posts last may on the Sega facebook page long before the "VF5r console group" was ever created. I also have been playing VF since the first one, took the beta of saturn VF2 home every night while I worked at gamefan magazine and built a lindbergh cabinet/hosted gatherings specifically for VF5. Don't tell me about VF, son.

We got an answer back from the Facebook effort and the answer was no. I simply accepted it and moved on. Sega is still on shaky ground right now from what happened with Sammy last year and laid off 500 employees. Also, the yen currently being as strong as it is hurts any japanese company releasing games abroad.

Simply put, my opinion is right now isn't the best time for something that is (or almost) two years old.

Do you think it would be a good idea to release VF5r against Super Street Fighter 4? A niche game with 2 new characters vs a mainstream game with ten new ones. VF5r would get crushed and give another reason for Sega not to give us a console 6.

SEGA always misses the chance to release VF.....

 

If they don't release 5r for the west they wont release a VF6. Final Tuned didn't have new characters, making a new VF with new chars and not releasing it in the west saís a lot. I don't think the petition will work, but I hope it'll work. In my opinion VF5R won't get crushed if it is DLC. A lot of players like me buy all the main beat'em ups. If VF5R gets released at the same time as SSFIV I'll buy both, which I'll do anyway. Also the release of SSFIV is said to be this year. I doubt sega will be finished with the port in 1/2 year.
