True 120 Hz works because 24 fps, 30 fps, and 60 fps fit in evenly. No need for interpolation. Speaking of interpolation, for SONY 120 Hz sets, turn Motionflow OFF for gaming.

As far as I can tell, you can get a 50" 1080p plasma for ~$1,500, just like you can get a 52" 1080p lcd for ~$1,500.

As long as you aren't in a room with terrible reflections, the plasma image quality, especially in dark scenes, will destroy the lcd.

look at every feature besides 1080p and see if it compares. Btw what brand is the Plasma?

"feature" schmeature. Panasonic plasmas are just as affordable as LCD. Yeah, pioneer kuros are hellaciously expensive, but that doesnt mean all plasmas are.

Pioneer is known as the cream of the crop when it comes to Plasma. Panasonic is descent, Vizio is shit
If you are going to buy a Panasonic plasma you might as well get a higher end Sony LCD.

At the end of the day go with the tv that you like to view.

Plasma all the way. You could find Kuro's for 2G's. Unless you want the beast...The Elite model. The thing with plasma is, you have to "break" the TV in the first 100hrs(That means, no gaming)After that, no burn in's..at all. Trust me, is worth it. I'm upgrading this winter to a Kuro. I'm currently using a SONY CRT 34inch WEGA HDTV. Since I had this TV, no Samsung or SONY LCD's has come close to the quality of my tube. That's why I waited, and did a bunch of research on various forums(AVS Forums and Gaf for example)And they all lead me to the KURO line from Pionner. The latest model got a 10 from Cnet, the highest score they a ever gave to a flat panel TV thus far.

But....If your in a budget(Spending under 1,500$)Get a SONY or Sharp. Their menus are alot more user friendly then that crap Samsung has. Can't stand their menus and overall designs for their LCD brands. But, that's just me. But if you want the best flat panel TV, and willing to save up(Like I did)Get a KURO, nuff said.

Hey Talis I'm just curious but which do you think is overall better. The 52W4100 or the 52XBR6?? I plan to purchase one of these probably after the X-mas holiday.

Get the 52W4100 it's a better value for you.

Funny you asked. I just looked into that myself. I'm tempted by "OOH! It's teh NEW teknologeeee! XBR6!" I agree with Smurf, though - W4100 is better value. It's got what I want in a TV. It looks good, 120Hz, built-in speakers sound good, no quality control issues when compared to, say, a Sharp D92U, and the price is dropping, too.

Samsung's are TRASH, Menu's suck, designs SUCK, fuck them. Get a SONY, Sharp or a fucking Panasonic Plasma. Like I said before, I'm getting a Kuro, is worth the Money. Fuck Samsung and their sorry excuse of Flat Panels.

There's almost nothing in avsforum about that line of TVs. Do a general search for gaming in the Rear Projection section on Samsung DLP. The only other recommendation is to bring your gaming console to a TV store and try it out.
