    Another thing about lag.
    Check the connections and resolution.
    Example on my Mitsubishi:
HDMI from 360 to receiver back to HDMI on TV..lag
Component Cables from 360 to TV better response but still.. lag
360 to TV via HDMI 1080p...lag
360 to TV via HDMI at 720p near perfect

Like I said before... no tv will be perfect. Get what you like and have a nice return policy just in case

What kind of TV should i get for Gaming

sure this has been asked and answered before, but can't find it.

    Plasma? LCD?
What do you fellow vfers advise. 720 right? 1080 isn't going to run with my xbox anyways. Keep in mind that i could really care less about watching movies etc.....the main function of my TV will be for playing video games.

    Help me out guys.
    thanks

I don't need a big screen, also I don't care about 720 vs 1080 so I got myself a Samsung SyncMaster T200HD monitor. It has a TV tuner, so I could connect my PS3 through HDMI, PS2 through RGB, TV through cable antena, and a PC through DVI. They also come with bigger screens (T220HD, T240HD, T260HD, the last two being 1920x1200 - full HD).

What struck me as surprising is that even though the monitor (T200HD) is 1050, so shouldn't be full HD, it allows to display stuff in 1080p.... how come?

I have a 67" Samsung DLP (HL67A750) and it works perfectly for VF. The 750 series DLP's are incredible, because they use the new LCD DLP engine. No bulb to replace, no spinning color wheel. Very rich color, deep blacks, bright whites.

Before purchasing, I actually took my xbox to Ultimate Electronics and asked them if I could hook it up to a few TVs to test it out. They were really cool about it. VF has zero input lag on this TV. There's a special "game" mode that is made to reduce input lag, and unlike my previous DLP, this set brings the lag all the way down to zero.

Paid $2000 for it at Ultimate Electronics. A great set for any gamer who has the budget and the space.

I go a 720p LCD for xmas, just for video games. I had been play on a 13" low def tv/vcr combo before. Suffice to say the upgrade feels like i have a whole new system. 360 is just amazing in HD. Dont know how i went w/o for so long... Oh, dont bother w 1080p, 90% of 360 games only run on 720.... Otherwise the on screen visuals lag or get choppy. U have to go into the system menu and set the display to 720 or face the laggy visuals. Brought to u by burg's phone.

Aarggghhh. I am so technical illeterate. This has only helped to further confuse me. The main takeaway i have garnered, is make sure i can take it back if that shit is unsatisfactory.

    1. Go to the store: "Is this TV good for gaming?"

    Stupid sales clerk "OF COURSE"

Me: "okay, 'chad' (or whatever the dipshits name is) i'll take it. But if it fucks up in 30 days i'll bring it back to you...'chad.'

    2. ????
    3. Profit.

I don't know, when i get back from work trip i'll post up the specs on the one i'm looking at and see what you guys think.
(note: gerns made it sound like as long as your tv is running at 720 lag isn't a factor, or at least thats whay i thought it sounded, is this correct?" another note: i'm really not looking to drop more than 7-800 dollars here.)

I'm pretty sure it was way less than $700, maybe around ~$400... I'm not sure, because it was a gift, but my pops wouldn't have bought me a $700 dollar x-mas present...

I had my 360 set to 1080p and the on-screen visuals were slow or "laggy" but this has nothing to no with the internet. The visuals were lagging from the 360 to the TV. Example: playing pinball, I couldn't trace the ball's path because the screen would drop mad frames.

I was bummed until I went into the system menu and set the display to 720p instead of 1080p and it worked perfectly ever since. If you're trying to display some resolution your HDTV can handle, or the game you're playing is only programmed for 720p, it won't look right. Once you have the correct settings, you're all set to play HD 360 (which is no comparison BTW. It's just awesome!)...

I have a 19" HD LCD, I can't remember the exact model but I love it and it couldn't have been $700 dollars.

I bought myself a refurbished Vizio 32" VO32L VO32 HDTV LCD flat screen for $510. Its sweet + 1080p by means of an HDMI cable. No lag or any of that nonsense.

Your TV model(VO32L VO32)only does 1080i. You should of save for another month, and got your self a Bravia or a Sharp. But, for 510$ for a 32inch LCD is not bad.

Do you mean there is going to a big sell for next month?
    Because of the hd cable??

I don't think human eyes can tell what's different between 720p and 1080i(p) on 32"LCD, but they're totally different when you use over 40".
Btw, yes, Vizio only support 1080i for their 32", but it still good enough~~

SuperBowl season is the best time to buy a new HDTV. Look for a lot of specials this weekend.
