how apart were those games from their home release?

SF3, ok how long since that game was in arcades (in japan) it took until it got to home?

SF4, (in japan) how long it took for that game to be released at home?

VF5 (final version , not R) how long did it took for that game to come home on PS3? and then xbox?

VF5R WILL come after it has gotten SOME play. my point is that a company usually will not announce a game until it has gotten some play. with the exception of the new tekken lol, shit was announced b4 it released in arcades..amazing.

be glad that when we do get R it will be the latest version (at the time) it seems for now that R will be it.

    /prediction off

    I think SF3 was about 2 - 3 years...

SF4 was less than a year, probably about 9 months.

And Slide VF5R Ver B. does have gameplay changes.

EDIT: Just checked wikipedia and there was only 7 months inbetween VF5 Ver A arcade release and PS3 Version /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

    Oh ok thanks.

When it was announced I didn't follow it, I just watched 1 or 2 matches that got uploaded and then went about my business. Saw Sarah's new idle stance, and the camera zooms and such.

Gameplay changes, aesthetic changes, blah blah. All that matters is Jacky got another winpose with guns where he says "I always get the pole position!"

    Okay L_A, Konjou

True story follows: when I stumbled across VF 4 in a small town
in Ohio I didn't know anybody who played the game. I did know Tekken players, and some MK players.

I learned the game took myself up in Kumite mode to Dragon Lord /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif and decided to find somebody else in my little town that played the game. I knew there had to be at least two other people because when I went back to the best buy the last two copies of the game were gone /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Here's what I did, because I was kewl with the local sport's bar
I asked him could I put on a Tekken tournament, he agreed (he's a gamer too) I then made flyers that advertised a Tekken and Virtua Fighter Tournament with prize money going to the winner of the VF tournament. I personally put up the $100 prize money.

To my shock we had about 15 Tekken players show, to my greater shock we had 6 VF players show (who each thought no one else plays this). Because the Tekken players wanted a chance to win
they picked up the sticks and mashed (none of them won though) and neither did I /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Anyway I advertised that tournament at the only Mall we have in our little town, and at the town University /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif So although I
thought I was the only one, I wasn't. And to this day we sponsor
at least two public tournaments a year ( I still put $100-$200) up for first and second place. Although the prize money sometimes goes to $1000 through other sponsors. And on a good day we have as many as 15 relatively good VF players show up for our public tournaments. To top it off we 3 females who are off the hook.

We also created a strong VF culture in our little town, we really
use the game not only for fun, but to settle personal matters. Matters that would usually end up in a real fight. We also have
at least one VF show a year where people pay (yep $5.00 each) to watch a couple of our best fighters fight(true story). But its
only because I took the original initiative to promote a tournament. Now we have a dojo that handles everything. But its
easier than U think. All you really need is one monitor, two sticks and one console and a copy of VF. As your tournaments get
    bigger add more.

The places we have our tournaments at don't charge, because we bring customers. We like to do the tournaments at places like BW3, Jillians (Sports bar type places). We bring fighters and spectators who eat (Money for the business) and in exchange they
let us use the location and the big screens. Its really that simple. Just because they're not online and don't know about
VFDC don't mean you don't have lots of VFers in your town. U
just got to find them /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

L_A, Konjou, I'm willing to bet U they sold hundreds of copies of VF5 in whatever city you're in. You've just got to find those people. Do you have a Jillians where Ur at. They're pretty good about sponsoring fighting game tournaments. Yep, probably all Ur
old peeps have left the scene, but there's always new ones.

If you really want to play the game, then sponsor a tournament. Advertise in the game stops, ebgames, etc, Especially now with so many fighting games coming out, You'll find some VF players in your town that don't get online, and people U've never heard of that like the game as much or more than U do.

Once U find these people, it won't matter what version of VF you're playin, really /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

I don't think it's possible that SEGA doesn't know how badly we want VF5R... The email requests Myke set up on the the front page of VFDC has been linked all over the internet, in multiple languages... You can search and see the same for yourself...

If those emails were really getting where they were supposed to go then I bet they got A LOT of emails from all over the world... I think this is the one game that the majority of true fighting gamers want and that it will happen.

For this community to lose people like LA Akira and Konjou would be a crying shame. The universe will not let that happen...

Okay, I've been playing on Wolf's stage for a bit now, and I've been watching R vids on Wolf's stage, and I see no loss of snow or any green.

I think you're talking gobbledegook again.

In january in Japan I talked to 2 friends at sega jp about just how much this game means to our community. One of my friends is a lead on valkyrie Chronicles and has some clout over there at Sega Japan. I made it VERY clear for at least an hour at karaoke with him that alot of people here are banking on R happening for console and if it doesnt come to pass, there are gonna be quite a few people giving the game up. He told me to continue sending those emails to the opinion box as all employees at sega get those mails.

As shitty as it is to say, I think the VF community outside japan is just too small for sega to warrant brining R home and they are not doing well financially right now. Maybe they will wait and we might see some future versions down the line but I am not gonna sit around hoping for something to happen for the next few years. Im 34 and need to worry about my career and other hobbies which aren't dictated by a companys bad luck and poor financial decisions.

The icing on the cake is not allowing anyone to purchase the arcade board of R which is lease only.

The marketing out side of Japan is too small for SEGA. But I still believe R will come out on consoles and it's just about the time.... Take a look at Ver.B, I think SEGA is still working on VF and trying to make it perfect. No doubt we have to wait until the last arcade version released and then home version can come up finally. The thing is that how many versions we need to wait further? Based on the past experience, it usually took VF mature on Ver.C which means we probably have to wait a little bit longer....
I'm glad to see if SEGA announce R immediately but I won't feel disappointed if they don't. The fact is we can't expect the same treatment as Japanese, and we need to deal with what we have so far.

Quiting is a little extreme. Disappointed if R never comes home ? Hell yes. I remeber when VF 3 was cancelled for Sega Saturn. Man was I pissed. I cursed Sega and vowed to boycott the Dreamcast (all they were demoing was Godzilla) , but I never folded my arms and quit VF2. That's like going celibate because you broke up with your girl: a lose-lose situation . As soon as they previewed VF3 tb I got over my frustration and preorderd it.

That was like a 2 year wait. So yeah it could be a two year wait for R.
So It could be worse. Sega hasn't said one way or the other. Rather than stress about R , I would rather just learn another character while I wait.

I'm just glad R exists at all , alot of people doubted there would even be an evo-style upgrade.

Be patient , I say . This is Sega , after all,; they can only do so much right at a time.

    Assasin's Creed
    Tenchu all PS2 versions
    Tekken from 1 to 5DR

And I'm still lookin for 5R I will play video games until the
    wheels fall off /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

I get away with all of this because my girl is a gamer too /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
and she plays 95% of what I play. She gets a little more into
    the horror games like

Resident Evil, Dead Space and Silent Hill

So you Young Whipper Snappers Hold your horses. If U don't know
ask somebody /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif And be grateful that VF 5 for the PS3 is not online or U would see what it feels like to play the real
