Also, remember to check job listings in SoCal! It's beautiful here - and maybe a little less expensive than NY. What ever happens - I hope it's for the best.

PT patch? You mean from the military? I was able and authorized to wear one, but never did. Thanks though, I dont' know if the law enforcement would take me as far as to how I felt after coming back from Iraq anyway. Nothing about contempt for humanity or anything like that though. Haha someone the other day had asked me if I wanted to be a cop, I told them no. And I don't, really, I'd like to be a detective or go SWAT but I have to go through regular cop first unfortunately.

I enjoy kickass jobs.

Man that's bad news, I'm sorry to hear that guys. That's the whole problem with this economy. It's hard for me to even tell people, that I've been unemployed for almost an entire year(after being out of the military), I'm overqualified for a ton of jobs and the jobs wouldn't even hire and there were freezes. Be on the lookout guys.

Thanks to the economy, I already assume that state police probably won't hire me either even with my credentials. So I also have the possibility of going into the fire department, aswell as using my gi bill increase(in august) if push comes to shove. What sucks is that I had left school after the military because the gi bill wasn't even enough to do school these days(they'll fix this come august). So I'm not at a loss, just on an extended break(this stupid shit though is why I kept weighing my status of playing VF cause I felt like I was just cheating collecting unemp not getting hired and all that).

All I can say is I hope things work out for the best and you guys get jobs better than your previous ones, and good luck.

Seriously though, i appreciate the words of encouragement, but i personally couldn't be happier. I had "settled" for this job quite some time ago because i wasn't ready for what i really needed (and wanted) to do: get an MBA, and then start working on the family business.

This lay-off is just the reason i need to move forward with my original plan!

Hopefully, others can use getting laid-off as a reason to move forward, somehow.

Followed the first couple pages of the thread--not sure if we're still talking about the OP anymore but--I do work. 40+ hours per week. Im a Project Cordinator for a social science research firm.

Cant complain though---there's a lot of people going without jobs these days.

 

i am a gynecologist and i should really think about taking a peg to work from now on.

 

I'm a software Epistemologist for a research facility and
Programmer/Analyst for a University

all other time devoted to U NO What!

Currently a Computer Lab manager and a student so wish I had more free time though but the pay is good
